its an iWatch, Apple Watch, Expensive useless jewelry, the first thing i think when anyone that jumps on it being call an iWatch is...

It doesn't matter anymore what negative bias you keep wanting to spew. This thing is already the most successful Apple launch in the company's 30+ year history, and this is only just the beginning.

Like others have mentioned already: don't like it, don't buy it. But there's nothing stopping this train now.

So, you like to watch, heh ? It's ok, everyone is entitled to their own fantasies.

Its all you can do once the battery has gone flat until you get back to a wall socket, unlike a normal watch or pebble that you can wear for a week whilst camping or holiday without having to worry about charging .

i like the "idea" of apples watch, that battery life is just a blocker to me, it takes the watch from a useful "smart watch" to "an expensive jewellery accessory)

maybe one day apple will spend some of their billions on new and improved battery tech instead of ways to make their products into annual disposable items.

I cannot believe that if Steve Jobs was still at the helm that he would have thought a single day battery life was good enough, it feels to me the watch has been rushed to market to appease share holders (something Steve didn't give two hoots about) and because the apple brand needed something "new" to keep share prices up and they couldn't innovate on the existing product lines

I want the apple of 2008-2011 back, that was the sweet spot, they produced good solid products, and were not driven by a need to have Form of Function that seems to be evident in the Johnny Ive/Tim Cook lead firm.

I had no idea so many people still go camping with zero power sources. I have a portable charger I use for my iPhone on vacation and running the battery down taking a lot of photos. I think that would do just fine for the watch while camping, too. People usually have a vehicle while camping and that vehicle has a lighter port that works great for charging. Call me crazy but I usually sleep in a hotel room every night on vacation and they have outlets there!

Neil deGrasse Tyson should have one

It will be a crime if Neil deGrass Tyson isn't given an Watch:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghLa9rwZQVI

jump forward to 10:25 (although the first part is interesting too)

He talks about why an iPhone is better than Android and how he's been an Apple user forever. He pretty much sums up what it's like to be a long-time Apple fan.

Note to those who say no one wears watches anymore: Both of them are wearing watches.

I'm getting real sick of seeing these celebs with their free and early Apple Watches. It's a real douchebag move on Apple's part. The watch is clearly selling fine without giving away free and early watches.

The natural continuation to purchasing the mother-of-all-douchebags brand Beats.

But it IS expensive jewelry. Do you usually take all your expensive jewelry camping?

That's like saying "Brooks Brothers suits are stupid. I mean, they're fine in the boardroom, but do crossfit in it once and it's ruined."

I now want to see a basket ball game played entirely in brooks brothers suits !!!

man that would be awesome.

but at least you admit its Jewelry, not a smart watch/health monitoring device which is what apple is trying to sell it as, its a fashion item with a couple of non-pro, simple tools thrown in... as gimmicks.

at least until they sort out a battery life that makes the device useful rather than a toy

I think we only MOSTLY agree.

It's clearly a fashion accessory first. It's positioned that way, it's priced that way, and it's being marketed that way in social, PR, and with influencers. Apple touting its features is not how they're selling it. Those are functional benefits, but they're not its main selling feature.

It's also a smart watch, and a pretty powerful one. But its smartwatch functionality is not why you buy one. You buy one because it's a fashion accessory, and it's got more cool factor right now than anything else. But to call the Smartwatch part a "gimmick" or a "toy" is not giving it its due credit.

…except for sharing your heartbeat. LAME.

Apple is the KING of taking something you don't need and positioning it as something you can't live without, logic be damned.

That's why I bought one anyway :)

Not really. Whilst i agree that having a smartphone and a tablet may have been luxury items when they were first released, for my needs that are pretty much essential. The iphone for obvious reasons, and mu ipad has replaced the need to carry several books and research papers, journals around at work. I also have gone virtually paperless, thus have many work docs on Evernote, which whilst.
