Jaguar and Land Rover will soon offer CarPlay and Android Auto in both new and existing vehicles in the United States.

A spokesperson for the brands confirmed to MacRumors that, from the 2019 model year forward, all Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles equipped with its InControl Touch Pro or Touch Pro Duo infotainment systems will be available with an optional smartphone connectivity package including CarPlay and Android Auto.

Jaguar and Land Rover say the smartphone connectivity package will be an optional installation in new vehicles, either at the factory or port-of-entry, at a cost of $280 and up depending on the model and trim level.

There's also good news for existing owners of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles with an InControl Touch Pro or Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, as the spokesperson confirmed a retroactive update with CarPlay and Android Auto functionality will soon be available at authorized dealerships in the United States.

The spokesperson was not able to provide an exact date when new vehicles with CarPlay and Android Auto will arrive to U.S. dealerships, or exact availability of the retroactive update, but did note the rollout should be imminent.

The retroactive update appears to already be rolling out to select Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles in the United Kingdom.

2018 has been a successful year for CarPlay adoption, with Toyota and Lexus, Mazda, and now Jaguar and Land Rover beginning to offer the Apple software platform as a preinstalled option. Apple's website says CarPlay is now available in over 400 vehicle models in the United States, from almost all major automakers.

I currently drive a 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV, and its CarPlay support is fantastic, with a much larger screen than most other cars. That said, a Jaguar I-Pace with CarPlay would be a huge upgrade…

I have a 2018 F-Pace with in control touch pro (which sucks) and not having CarPlay is the only thing I don't like about the car.

I am so happy they will retrofit earlier models.

CarPlay is so nice. I'm stoked.

I test drove the F-Pace and really wanted to like it. But was completely flabbergasted at the decision to put window controls on the sill. It was an ok car. Hope you like it.

Ummmm, 2018 Toyota's DO NOT have CarPlay...they have (gag) enTune. Toyota did recently announce that the 2019 Avalon will have CarPlay and there is some mysterious path to upgrading "older" Toyota vehicles...TBD / TBA.

Please get your facts straight.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) need to concentrate on manufacturing vehicles that don't keep breaking down. Especially when you've purchased a brand new custom build for £105k.
My one spends most of its time in their dealerships up and down the country but no one can repair the damn thing! JLR remind me of my first Samsung Note 3, it worked for 6 months and literally died even Samsung were confused what to do with it! I never touched a Samsung since!
#JLRPlague, what's next? The #JLRCarPlayPlague (Sounds rather cool :D)

At first I thought that you've got some nasty popup and tried to dismiss it. With no success though

This is good news, I bought my wife a Velar last month and the dealer mentioned this us... Told us they would add it for free once it becomes available in early 2019.

I've had "carplay" for years by hacking an AUX cable into the car's stereo, and plugging that into my iPhone. Best of all, it's free!

Better late then never for the 80 or 100 grand cars! In fact CarPlay will probably be the most reliable thing in these cars, they’ve dived in quality reports and customer satisfaction since they were taken over by that Indian group.
Sales have also declined and their profits, but its ok as they have just repeatedly blamed Brexit... or in other words used Brexit as an excuse to cover up their own incompetence! Yet endless idiots believe them when they blame Brexit, winds me up!

Jaguar Land Rover are crap. They grew up the ladder and now just cut back on things like cars that don’t break down. I see the new Defender will be pushed up maket to be a premium SUV, so much for the rugged farmers car it started out as!

Don’t worry, just do what Land Rover Jaguar do and blame it all on Brexit...

Still waiting on Mazda to stop lying about it, and deliver the firmware update they have been promising for over a year.

These days I would simply not buy a car that didn't have it, nor even rent one, unless it has a really amazing navigation built in. I am sick of automakers offering us worthless navigation systems as part of a $3000, 'technology package' and you end up with a GPS worth less than $99.

Praise Jesus! I was just getting depressed with how ****** the infotainment system was in my new Discovery.

Has anyone actually found out what percentage of new vehicles bought actually have CarPlay?

I'm feeling like peak-CarPlay is coming shortly - as Tesla (which I seriously doubt will ever offer CarPlay) eats into the market, the number of cars sold offering it will decline.

This news should make the 1%’s happy.

As for everyone else ...... meh.
