Hello - thought I would post this here as well as the iPhone normal forum - experiencing difficulties and as I just want my phone back to normal - jail broken or otherwise - is there anyway I can get this thing working again?

    Other thread......

I have a slight problem (to put it mildly) please see this thread -

    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthre...1#post14122600

Have now sorted out the PC side of things (I think although still can't find which other software I installed )

So now I'm hoping someone equally lovely person can assist me with the iPhone side of things?

For a recap - its an iPhone 3G 16g purchesed 2nd hand for my daughter. It came jail broken - which I decided last night that I didn't need and tried a restore.

Phone froze - que issues with PC and installing software re the above thread.... and now I'm stuck!

As I said - I'm a complete novice who should never attempt anything technical (I work with kids and grow vegetables ) so any help really really appreciated!

Thanks in advance for anyone who has some time to spare this morning....

Can be a little slack on Saturday mornings...I'm sure someone will pick this up. As I said, I have never jailbroken an Apple device in my life, but there are a lot of people here who know the process inside out.

I prefer to keep my stuff as :apple: intended it:)

I think thats the best option for a novice like me! We have had 2 iPhones (3g and 4g) and and 2 ipads (1 & 2) all running normally but as I said - bought this second hand to keep my daughter off my stuff and it came jailbroken - If I had known it would be like this would have avoided! lol

There are plenty of genius JB experts who have brought all kinds of dead stuff to life again....This is sort of switch over time between UK members getting up, and USA members still asleep.

I'm in the music, video and photography business so am frequently around in the early hours, or late at night. Hang in there, help will come!

Can you get it into DFU mode (holding home button and power, then releasing power)?

Yes - I can get it in to that - and start a restore but then it just comes back with error code 1015

Just tried calling apple care and they didn't want to know -

No problem, hopefully we can get you back up and working..

Let's do DFU mode again, go through the restore process until you get the 1015 error in iTunes. Once you do, close iTunes completely and open IREB. Click on the" recovery mode loop fixer" tab at the top. Then you'll see the "fixes 1015 error" button.

Click that. It sometimes doesn't work on the first try. Try it again.

What happened when you clicked the fix 1015 button?

The screen on the iphone should show an apple logo and a task bar and then it will boot into the activation/emergency screen.

Ok hmmm. Try restoring in iTunes again. Are you restoring to 4.2.1?

Anyone going to ask him if the ipad bb was installed in order to unlock?
That could be the reason it will never restore to official firmware with itunes.

OPs iphone might have ipad baseband on it which would be why its not accepting normal restore thru itunes.

Op can you try making a custom IPSW in redsn0w? Then do a Pwned DFU restore.

So how do I change my iTunes to 4.2.1 - I just updated my iPad / iPhone 4 last night on whatever OS it is currently on?
