Jail broken iPhone 3G - failed restore....

Yes as long as you don't click update or restore you'll be fine. You can still load music, apps, videos, etc!
 
Ok fab! Got a happy daughter back and from now on if I hear the word 'Jailbreak' ill run a mile! Best left to people who know what they are doing :)

You didnt install the ipad BB but the person that sold it to you already jailbroken might have.
And sounds like you have no idea about JB tools, custom JB ipsw's, how to create one and with what and what to do with it.
So I'd advise you to bring it to someone more technical who knows a little more or the person who sold it to you jailbroken might be able to help.

Thanks macman - have a new found respect for IT types now - also feeling pretty pleased with the outcome! It's running faster than it was before too so added bonus!

Sim still not working but I can cope with that - although part of me wants to 'fix' this too - but I'm leaving well alone for now! I do not need anymore techy dramas! :eek:

You are correct in that I have no idea :D - thank goodness for this forumn is all I can say!

I feel like I've learnt a whole new language today!!!!!!

Lol - well I did post on Facebook earlier and say I had become an expert (tounge in cheek like) and one of my friends asked advice on her iPhone 3G battery! If you knew me you would know how ridiculous it is to ask me this type of question! I did however give her some tips (and a link to a thread on this forum;) )
 
Lol, my Windows is so rusty now...Especially Vista ( awfulf OS) but I'm not really a techi. I'm a musician and producer....I did work in the industry, as many here have and do.

Forums like this are great places to sort out issues like yours, and to learn things. I was actually toying with the idea of JB'ing my iPhone 4 as I have the 4 S now, but after what you went through yesterday?

I'm sticking to " as is " Apple stuff.
 
I love that a musician fixed my PC - lol!

I don't really get the whole jailbreak thing - but I do like the way you can 'pimp your screens' - other than that - I'm not sure of the benefits - I'm sure there are plenty - if you know what your doing that is! :eek:
 
The old man just synced and 'updated' the software! Crash!

Here I go again! FFS! Have to start from scratch as got rid of all the downloaded stuff!

Not happy! :mad:
 
Nope - had to retrace my steps and do the whole process again - to overwrite the software update I presume!

On the plus side - only took half an hour today rather than hours like last time!

Were back in business! Now next time we sync - do not update software! :eek:
