Can confirm this worked for me.

Here's a good set of instructions.

PREPERATION STEPS - Highly recommended you do these first.

Launch iTunes with iPhone/iPad plugged in and make sure it completes a backup of your device.
When the backup is 100% complete, quit iTunes, unplug your device, replug your device then follow the instructions below.

Doing that first will make for a much quicker process.

Completely new guide for noobs. I just found a way to do it on my iPad 2 [Wifi only] on iOS 5.0.1..
1) Download the file above in step 3, then extract the folder to your Downloads. (Start Menu, your name, then on the left, downloads.)
2) There should now be a folder called: "cinject_0.4.3"
3) Open up CMD and type this (Without "" quotes..): "cd downloads"
4) Then, do: "cd cinject_0.4.3"
5) After so, type this command into cmd.. "cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig"
6) On your device, click on install, and when prompted to type in a password, just click next, with no password in.
7) After so, type this command: "cinject.exe -j payloads"
8) Just wait a little bit. ( Don't freak out, or jizz ;) )
9) Now after a few minutes from step 8, now type this command: "execute the command: cinject.exe -w"
10) On your device, after doing step 9, toggle the "VPN" switch on in the settings, in about a few seconds after, it should say error.
11) Wait, then it should restart. Cydia is now installed, and your device is now free!

Worked on my iPad 2 5.0.1 fine.
Trying on my 5.0.1 iPhone 4S.

It's been at Creating backup for ages but I will assume it's all going well. Will update with what happens.

Nice guide Kimlo. :) Just when I get the error at number 10 my phone doesn't restart. Going to try restore my phone and try again.

I would try the cinject process from start again and see if that makes it restart, even try restarting yourself after the error and see if Cydia comes up, or you could juhst restore if it's not a big hassle to put everything back on.

I am just doing it now but the last step seems to be taking awhile to finish. I think this is normal.

Let you know soon.

Well Dare, I must say out of the 100's of posts I've read, even though I can't get this rolling yet you have been the most helpful...I think I've tried what you mentioned with the "CD"...can you check the pic one more time and let me know where I've gone wrong? If you would be so kind, type out the actual command for me. Thanks in advance.

Hey Fuzion11, this should be the exact CMD to type in.
cd downloads/cinject_0.4.3

In that EXACT formatting as well. Tell me how you go.

You could change the name of the directory to something simple like "jailbreak" and then just cd to it. You change the name of the directory by renaming the folder.

And stick the folder in c:\jailbreak\ or something very simple.

havent been able to access greenpois0n once since it went up on both my mac or windows machines. hmmph :(.

First, browse to the downloaded cinject file. It's in rar format
, so unrar it and make a note of it's location. Is it in downloads etc?

then

cd c:\users\james\downloads\cinject_0.4.3

that relies on the folder being in downloads of course.

Google the exact name of the file and you'll see heaps of other websites having the download available.

Between Kimlo and Dare, you guys are freaking geniuses...Been trying to do this for 2 hrs now and it finally worked...thanks so much to both of you!!!

yet another reason why I love my iMac so much. but on the rare exception when the JB process comes out for Winblows first? no problem, I just reboot with Bootcamp to Winblows and I'm good to go.

too bad Winblow users can't do the same. :D

Pleasure mate :)

Now I'm stuck on "Creating backup" ... Bah.
Forgot to make a backup on the iPhone first.

I don't know if I should just wait or unplug my iPhone, restart, backup in iTunes and try again. Or restore if that doesn't work.

Actually yeah you can, you use VMware with Windows, boot into Mac OS virtually and you can run the jailbreak tool that way ;)

thanks, yea but dont you need to go to greenpois0n website to finish the jailbreak? at least thats what ive been reading?

No mate, I can't access the greenp0ison website but I've just (literally 15 minutes ago) jailbreaked my iPad.

But I did do it through the command line interface(CLI) method because I don't have a Mac.

Here is a problem I had that might help others. If you erase all settings from the phone and then don't connect and set up as new or restored phone through itunes the jailbreak will not progress.

Worked for me now. Time to donate. So nice to have the cydia icon back!

Still getting the "A configuration error occured." when turning on VPN however after this my phone won't reboot or anything.

Make sure when you open iTunes your phone is set up properly - I.E. Should not show the Welcome page.

Once you're past the Welcome page, on the left hand side of iTunes right click your iPhone and press backup, make sure it fully backups.

Download the cinject_0.4.3 again, off chance you may have downloaded it corruptly.

Quit iTunes, unplug your iPhone, hold down the home button and power button until you see the apple logo, let go of it, when it's back on go into settings > General> Password Lock and make SURE you have no password lock on your phone.

Once you have done that, replug your iPhone and try again.

Summary,
Restore
Set up
Backup
Re-download Cinject
Quit iTunes
Unplug
Disable password lock
Restart iPhone
Plug in again
Try CMD all over again.

Tell me how that goes.

This is where I get stuck. I do step 7, the cmd says some sort of failure, not sure it that is suppose to say it, then do step 8 and I get an error

That happened on my iPhone too because I forgot to backup, but I backed up on my iPad and it worked perfect and it took a few seconds.

Now I've had to start all over again, this time making sure to backup.
