im seriously considering JB for custom SMS, but is there anything out there for better notifications? I would like something that shows if i have a new email from the lock screen, is that possible?

Yes - lockinfo. There's a huge thread about it in the hacks section.

Any of you iP4 jailbreakers see a performance hit at all after the JB? I have been jailbroken on 2g, 3g, and 3gs and thought it was essential. My iPhone4 runs so well right now that I am considering if it is worth it. Traditionally, I used SBS settings, had custom icons/fonts/dialers, etc. With the ability to multitask and set wallpapers in iOS4 I am trying to justify if it is worth it . Any feedback on iP4 performance being jailbroken?

Have some apps lost the ability to multitask with the jailbreak? Can pandora and skype still function normally in the background?

I'm on the fence about this until I hear more apps have been updated for the iPhone 4, and there is confidence that nothing on the phone will be negatively impacted.

Real multitasking, Wi-Fi sync, Mywi, custom themes, SBSettings, Google Voice app, 3G Unrestrictor + tons more.

HTF not?

Those are some great reasons, especially mywi. I had tired of the cat-and-mouse game as someone called it above, but I think it's time to try at it again on the ip4. =)

Decided to jailbreak anyway!! But cydia is stuck on the loading screen:(! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jailbroke on my iphone 4 at 6:30pm this evening and...

It is worth it for MyWi alone. If you add Google Voice, WiFi Syncing and a few other apps, it begs the question:
Why didn't I do this much earlier?

:D

What is Sb settings? can someone sum it up in a sentence or 2?

Sbs is an incredibly fast and easy way to change virtually every setting on the phone. Much easier than tracking down a setting in the main settings app. I'm waiting for another jb to be released as it made my phone kind of buggy

Thank you. One last Q, I just jailbroke my GF's iPhone 3G. She is going through the 70000 themes right now, but what are YOUR opinions of some cool apps.

I know we can look it up which we have but she wants to hear opinions. Thank you all.

Mywi is great. So is 3G unrestrictor. Bitesms. Sbs. Lockinfo. Weather icon. Live clock. Infinidock. Categories. That's just a few I had on my 3G

So for all those thousands JB'ing their IP4's when 4.1 comes out with the proximity fix they have to choose between getting a fix or staying with a faulty JB phone right?

Did anyone elses Tethering suddenly become available after they jailbroke? Strangely, mine works right out of the box now...

I JB'ed primarily for Siphon (VoIP), Sbsettings and MyWi. Lockinfo & backgrounder are also really useful.

Apple could easily provide all the features these programs offer and then I'd have no reason to JB.

But once you have JB and made all these changes and additions do they stay there once you update to say 4.1? What happens to the changes you have made then?

For one reason only

I jailbreak for MyWi. Cydia + MyWi are the only 2 things installed (well and there's some other basic stuff that comes w/ cydia ;p). :D

SBSettings, LockInfo, biteSMS, iBlacklist, and a little bit of nintendo with nes4iphone.

Yeah it's worth it.

Oh and don't forget custom text and notification tones.

The PDF embedded font exploit and proximity sensor fix are more important to me. As well, it is always hassle re-configuring JB settings to an updated phone.

Can someone please answer this? I'm wondering this myself.
