Can someone please answer this? I'm wondering this myself.

You have to wait for the jb team to come out with a jb for 4.1. If you update to stock 4.1, you lose your jb. It's no big deal to wait though since the jb usually comes out very quickly after an update from Apple. If you do jb, make sure you use pkgbackup to back up all of your jb apps (it backs them up as a contact in your address book). Once 4.1 comes out and the dev team releases a jb for 4.1, you jb again, install pkgbackup and run a restore from within the program - that will reinstall all of your jb apps, repos, etc. Super easy.

But once you have JB and made all these changes and additions do they stay there once you update to say 4.1? What happens to the changes you have made then?

i'm new to this, but i believe you have to wait for an updated jailbreak before you can update or you will lose your jailbreak. like other people have said it's a cat and mouse game. when apple updates it usually "breaks" the jailbreak but shortly after that an updated jailbreak will be released...

what i don't know is if you have to jailbreak all over again to go from a 4.0.1 jailbreak to say a 4.1 jailbreak... do you have to redo all your settings and redownload all your apps? or are future updates (once jailbroken) somehow offered through cydia?

Has anyone else had any issue finding older apps on cydia?

(Specifically Tlert and GrIp)

I used jailbreakme . com and the cydia install took minutes to connect to the internet, couldnt find any of the most well known apps, etc etc

I really only jailbroke for those 2 apps but they don't seem to exist.

I felt like I got a new phone when I JB'ed my 3GS (about 8 months after I purchased the phone). I'm going to stay stock for now and prob JB in a few months once things are more complete. SBSettings, mywi and quickreply are the only reasons why I want to JB today. LOL:eek:

i really suggest you post these questions in the iphone hacks section. its all about jailbreaking and you will get much better responses. as far as grip goes, it is not updated yet for iphone 4 full compatibility. hopefully it will be soon.
