Apple can simply release an update for all iphones where it will restrict any search or website with the word "Jailbreak".

Ha Ha ... I guess this is legal too :D

I can't seem to find the article, but I remember that there were four guys who jailbroke iPhones in an Apple store, and got banned from the store.
Well, it's reasonable they got thrown out of the store. The employees have to restore the devices which costs time.

Im pretty sure it wouldn't be too hard for Apple to block a certain website, like how they blocked Facebook in the Regent Street Store.

I don't see how this could be considered "vandalism" or even "abuse". All one is doing is navigating to a website and sliding their finger. Remember, Apple advertises the "full internet". If Apple didn't want such a thing to happen, Safari wouldn't be designed in such a way. In fact, I would compare such an action to navigating to a porn site on an iPhone and then walking away.

Unfortunately, such actions of jailbreaking Apple Store phones is probably going to lead to a faster "update".

That would only work for WiFi access. Turn that off and you would still be able to JB the phone over 3G.

That's if you even get a 3G signal. Wow, I just found a way for Apple to combat jailbreaking. Disable WiFi.

I did this back in the day when we were running on the 1.1.x firmwares. I walked into a bestbuy and jailbroke all the display ipod touches. I thought it was pretty funny.

How pathetic. What do you get out of doing it? You's should be banned from the store. Doubt you'd get the jail, even if you did...well your a jailbreaker

Leave the phones alot for goodness sake. Put your self in Apples shoes, would you like some immature person to use your phone and do this (If you don't want your phone to be jailbroken)

wow, JB via safari browser? That means anyone can go to an apple retail store, use any of their many iPhone 4 demo stations and jailbreak their entire fleet of iPhone 4 demos for sh*ts and giggles.

Just lettin' ya'll know.

You epitomize the stereotypical jailbreaker.

How is this pathetic? Jailbreaking doesn't do anything to the device. It's a display model its not like i took some random guys touch and jailbroke. If bestbuy even noticed there being a cydia app now there all they would have to do is plug it in to a computer and hit restore. Give me a break.

The Apple Store is a very neat place with lots of toys laying out so everyone can have fun and try out the products. If you abuse this privilege it will be taken away. It's that simple. Image the new Apple Store, where all of the models are in glass cases running display demos. If you want to try one, you have to ask a sales associate to get one out for you and then he stands there until you're ready to hand it back to him. Is this what you want?

This is a classic example of a few people ruining a great thing for everyone else. I know it's fun to cause mischief that seems "harmless". Just don't be surprised when it has consequences.

Well it does take some time to restore each device......

I too also did it back in the old 1.1X days. Yeah I got a few laughs, but that's really it. You gain nothing out of jailbreaking those iphones/ipod touch other than a silly smile on your face.....but it its tempting to do it once again for the lulz and memories...but.....iunno.

So after doing this stunt, the Apple Store employees have to waste time restoring these phones, which takes them away from doing something productive like waiting on a customer. Great idea!

I agree it would be a little ridiculous to jailbreak 30 + plus devices in an apple store is a little much but when you got one display model in a best buy I dont see any harm. If i was working at the store and I saw someone did this to the display model it would get a laught out of me.

Yes. Exactly. I look forward to the threads of people in this one who see nothing wrong with it complaining in the future that they had to way xx hours to see a genius or that one of Apple's reps was rude to them.

You can't have it both way KIDS. Respect other people and their time as you would want yourself and your time respected.

And if I were a customer who needed to wait because some jack___ was messing with the equipment for fun I'd be pissed.

Have some respect for yourself AND your fellow neighbor.

I'm no lawyer, however I can see "vandalism" accusations coming from this.

You kids have fun, though the question arises, "what's the point"?

My thoughts exactly. It's like the average age of people here is 15. Leave the damn demo phones alone. If your idea of fun is to go around jailbreaking phones that don't belong to you, you need a hobby. Or a job.

Would you want to spend part of your workday undoing the work of some idiot who thought he was funny? Show some respect for property that's not yours.

could just block jailbreakme.com on their networks. same as jobs/schools do other web sites.

Ya, even services like OpenDNS can do this (personally, I wish you could pop in your own DNS settings instead of going through AT&T's DNS servers), or they could block it on the wireless routers.

It was pretty nerve-wracking for Apple employees when they used to do that to the original iPhone 2Gs back in the day.

might be funny but if some anal employee catches you he might call the cops and try to pin some vandalism charge on you.
