Tablet as in input device

What about iLife 10 with a drawing package that uses the iTablet as an input device. Maybe running an updated version of the iPhone software that also lets the iPhone work as touchpad for the desktop Macs.

I can see the keynote. iLife first, with a new input device, press a button on the tablet and it turns into a fully featured portable, big cheer from crowd.

That's what I think...

So, how will the tablet be will be determined by these three factors:

Screen:
- It has to be color and multi-touch
- If Apple wants to aim at ebook and magazine reading, it has to use e-ink (are there color, multitouch e-ink screens out there?)
- If there is no e-ink screen (likely), aimed at videos and games, casual reading

UI:
- Touch based, iPhone-like
- Accommodated to bigger screen

Casing:
- How will it be held: with one hand, invading the screen? meant to use it on a surface?
- External buttons, ports, inputs: microphone, speakers, mini-jack, minidisplay?, USB?, dock stand?

If iPhoto is ported to it, I really hope it has a USB socket. Save taking my MacBook on holiday just to download photos when my memory card is full.

If it's about iLife x, i only care for FASTER performance! I want native cocoa iLife apps. I want iphoto not being a pain when editing full size pictures..

iPhoto runs fine for me, but even on my Mac Pro iMovies crashes and is pretty slow to use. I hope iMovie get some SL type treatment.

Editing 15mp photographs in iPhoto is just a no go for me. Every 2 pictures the load bar comes up for about 30 seconds. And i just got a new unibody macbook. I'm getting 4GB though in a few days..

iLife + iWork + iTablet + expanded iPhone OS + art/note capabilities + right price = SALE

No, it could only be a sale if it runs a 'real' Mac OS X. I won't ever be buying another device running with a castrated DRM OS again - the iPod Touch was lesson enough for me.

Has there ever been attempts to make a true Object-Orientated 64-bit Kernel?
Most Kernels are C/CXX hybrids originally written in 32-bit then ported.

Kernels are now very object oriented in many aspects. Object Orientation is something how it is programmed, not in which language.

OSX has a micro kernel anyway, so it is very small and structured anyway already by that. Just there are also many things where is no place for OO. like boot routines, or the whole interrupt handler (which by design are callback functions), sure it would be possible to make the code part of an class and ignore the fact that it is an object. but what for?

Album art making in iLife 2010

I'm thinking that Apple is going to easily make our own album art using their iTunes LP format in iLife 2010.
The format is very cool, now it's time to make it easy to do.

I really hope they update the MPB's!

- I would love an affordable 256GB+ SSD. Or just a 30GB one (for booting) and a HDD for storage... But that's asking to much.

- i5 / i7

i'd support the dual HDD option, 1.8" SSD + 2.5" HDD or even 2*2.5" even if it would mean no optical drive.

IMO if they remove the optical drive and use the space for one more HDD and a bigger battery, and put some more USB/etc. ports where the slot is now, it would be a quite favorable MacBookPro.

How often do you use DVD/CD? by myself use them like every other month, and for that an external drive is good enough. Don't like the spinning sound, and see no reason why we have to carry that still with us.
Floppies anyone?

And what is wrong with the current case? Tell me one thing you would like changed about it? They shouldn't redesign it just for the sake of doing so. If there are some specific issues... fine. But there aren't.

Please. I know there are some classic cheese graters that are still awesome, but come on.

There are inexpensive generic cases you can buy with far greater expandability than the now SEVEN YEAR OLD PowerMac/MacPro case. For the shameless price Apple charges for the much touted, easily beaten by off the shelf PC components Mac Pro, I do believe a redesign is long overdue.

I think the rumours are pointing to Apple trying to usher in a new era of social networking, with the iPhone/iPod and iSlate devices at the hub.

I think, we will see a webcam on the new iSlate, which will run a modified version of iChat. iChat for windows will be announced to coincide with this, and on the side, possibly a new service by Apple which incorporates VOIP, and will compete with services such as Skype/Vonage/Google Voice. :apple:

maybe the outside is 7years old, but i for my part think it is a pice of art, timeless design.
the internals were reorganized with the intel switch.
If you own(ed) one you should know they are really well organized and clean.

Dont blame the viewer, Fox did this to themselves.
Fox has a record of fabricating news so one needs to question the source...

Actually, Fox News' detractors have a record of fabricating news that Fox News is fabricating news, giving Fox that rep. I'm not saying Fox doesn't miss facts, but no more so than any of the other MSM news outlets - and I watch them all. However, on the NEWS portion of its shows I've never seen a fabricated story. And they are less biased as well. (That is less biased, not not biased). Now if you are complaining about its OPINION shows, different issue since those are not sold as cold, hard news, hence the opinion tag.

I sincerely hope new MBPs will be released on this date as well. Why not lead into the big announcement with a few 'smaller' ones, like an updated iPhone OS (though I doubt 4.0) and a new MBP product lineup? Then Steve can put a cherry on top with 'one more thing' in the form of a sexy tablet!
