whatever iLife updates come I just hope they aren't too heavily tied to MobileMe. I'd really like to see a cheaper MobileMe option... Like for example 39.00 a year just for basic iweb hosting and iphone syncing, no email.

Hey Apple, how about actually following through with that whole Learn to Play/Lesson Store thing in GarageBand? You threw it out there and then let it shrivel up and die. Shameful. :(

It seems like it is time for iLife and iWork to become 64-bit because Snow Leopard was released. However, if they make it 64-bit, they would have to end Leopard support or make two versions

I don't see that happening with the iLife '10 suite. Sometime in September when iTunes 10/X is released.

Ahm, tell me if i am wrong, but Tiger allowed 64bit for services already, and Leopard allowed 64bit for GUI apps. or do i remember wrong?

Snow leopard was more like the last step by making kernel and drivers 32/64bit compatible.

Although Mac OS X is already 64-bit capable in many ways, Snow Leopard takes the next big step by rewriting nearly all system applications in 64-bit code¹ and by enabling the Mac to address massive amounts of memory.

My iLife tablet prediction

Well this rumor validates my post from a couple of weeks ago that called for iLife on the tablet. Nailed it! Ha you know your a fanboi when you're patting yourself on the back for being validated by another rumor.

Anyway this seems like a given - paving the way for a new kind of computing, i.e. NOT media player/kindle or less of the same netbook/pc tablet poopiness.

You can bet that apple's strategy on this is deep (tablet has been the :apple: of steves eye for a very long time now) Their in it for the long haul and are looking to define an industry.

Hold onto your cojones or any udder parts - this goose looks to be layin a golden apple.

Heh, if Faux News told me the sky was blue I'd have to go outside and double check.

Then again, a broken clock is right twice a day.

damn straight!

I have memories of someone going quiet in a conversation where that saying came up. He burst out with an "ahhh"... much much later. was quite amusing. silly kevin lol.

all i want is mbp.

I spoke to a source at Apple this morning, before the invite hit my inbox, who said the event would likely focus on three projects: The tablet device, iPhone 4, and a new round of iLife 2010 software. While we won't see new iPhone hardware just yet, we will see the next-generation software.

Faux Noise channeled a random spirit of a dead Apple employee that happened to be "in the know" and willing to ramble on about any and all secrets... Yeah, sure. *wink wink*

On a side note: Recently Sarah Pailin was asked which Apple product she liked best. Reportedly she responded, "All of them," and began a rambling word salad monolog about the Apple logo and gutting moose in her basement.

Leopard runs 64-bit apps... so they don't have to drop Leopard to move to 64-bit.

I'm just not sure what all the craziness is about 64-bit when recompiling only nets you about 10% at best, and it isn't any inherent benefit of 64-bit, it is just because x64 has more registers than x86.

It will have to be a 32/64bit universal binary regardless.

Snow Leopard runs on 32 bit Macs with the Core Duo processor from 2006.

I'm hoping for a vector program that combines illustrator, indesign, freehand, etc....into one simple program. Adobe suite is way overpriced and desperately needs competition.

whatever it is, i hope it's not a peripheral that needs to be synched to a mac. I hope it's a standalone computer.
However I can't see using a tablet, 'cos 1 hand will always be used to hold it up, like an iphone. Too cumbersome. Will probably have a built in stand, but I can't see that being too elegant—though apple is very creative in that dept.

There's probably something very novel for it to be useful. I would love a computer paradigm shift. I think perhaps it will be a cloud only computer, like google chrome. Perhaps that's the only way to download content, through the cloud. And maybe the internet will be subsidized by media companies so you don't have to buy another service.....much like the kindle.

I love how FoxNews has become are trusted source in Apple Rumors.

I love how it only took 12 reply posts before some "brilliant analytical thinker" denoted that, of all things, a tech report from Fox News has less integrity then say coming from CNN, MSNBC, PBS, ABC, NBC, CBS. You know, the well renkowned bastions for truthfulness and integrity. :D

Before you decry your post, try proofreading before submitting. It'll save you from looking like a @#$*%&!

"...has become are trusted source...", should be "...has become our trusted source..." ;)

There will be a MBP refresh in the next few weeks. I work at an Apple reseller and all of the MBPs are on constraint for the next three weeks. Last week, Apple said there was plenty of stock

How about MBA?

MBAs have always been pretty much an order-only product because there's such low demand for them. Never have more than one or two on hand so they're always heavily constrained.

Those who are doubting this report are showing extreme ignorance. "OMG Fox Nooz iz teh SUXXORZ!!!" The author is Clayton Morris, a very reputable journalist well regarded by everyone from Leo Laporte to Tom Merritt to Veronica Belmont to Partick Norton.

Obviously, this is a controlled leak by Apple to make sure journalist butts are in seats next Wednesday.

So who cares who Clayton works for? YOUR boss is probably McDonalds, so **** and get back to work.

You forgot the always unbiased NPR. ;)

Disclaimer: I back Fox News 100%.

@ Rocket Rion: Way to take a good argument and completely bomb it in the end by adding a personal insult.

A ~10% faster processor on a 13" MacBook Pro is $300 - or 25% more. That's quite a bargain to get 10% in software for free.

As someone with a Macbook Pro and an iPhone, I can't imagine anything this tablet offers that I don't already have in an easier to use device. Apple, you had better pull off some pretty mind blowing features to make this worthwhile.

Needs of the Many, Needs of the Few

Of course this is a controlled leak from Apple, never doubted...:D

It's Faux's long standing reputation for conservative swill, misrepresentation, opinion instead of news, obvious republican support and clandestine journalistic behavior...... yeah but that's for another forum of course :D

Disclaimer: I'm not a huge fan of some of the stuff of Fox News.

I totally agree with your response to Rocket Rion. He had such a great argument and I liked what he had to say. But ruined it in the end.

^ lol

Also, why bash Fox News so much? The point of this thread is to talk about the media event.

This thread proves that most Apple users are liberals.

Thankfully, I can justify my purchase by saying that Rush Limbaugh loves Macs.
