I think the show is great. However I don’t think the characters optimism is his defining feature. His best feature is that he knows how to bring out the best in others and wants that for them. That’s what really sells the show - his sincerity and the thought the character gives to actually helping people be better. But the show also works because the other characters are amazing. And interestingly all characters act like real people. There is not a lot of artificial drama for the shows sake which is a a welcome relief.

Apple probably already has the “Golden Globe winning” graphics ready to plaster everywhere, lol. Haven’t checked the show out yet, but look forward to doing so. It’s one of the few shows on the service that sounds interesting to me.

I'm embarrassed to say the trailer for the show led to believe I wouldn't like it. Last week I was bored so I watched the first episode, I couldn't stop watching. I ended up binge-watching the enitre first season. Loved it, one of my favourite shows now.
I started watching it on Saturday and I'm surprised how much I enjoy it. It's just a nice show about being nice, and that really hits the spot right now.

Quite possibly, yes
I'm on episode 7 of Ted Lasso and struggling to justify finishing it. I feel like it's either bad acting or poorly casted. Everyone's probably 10 yrs older than their characters should be. I can't seem to fall in love or care about any of the characters. It's got this feeling that it's everyone's first acting gig. What's up with the coach's assistant? He might as well be invisible.

If everyone's all abuzzed over this lackluster product, maybe they should shuffle on over to the Lifetime Channel where they can swim in this type of sappy mediocrity all they want

We are watching it as a family with our high-schoolers and laughing out loud often.

Besides enjoying Jason’s performance, as Buffy fans, my husband and I are kind of excited to see Anthony Head again and think he makes a really fantastic antagonist. Hannah Waddingham is an amazing actress playing such a well envisioned character.

As with “The Morning Show” every character is given due consideration and development and a chance to steal their scene. Thanks to the folks here who recommended this show to me.

I’m glad Jason won and I hope this win helps Apple establish its legitimacy as a streaming service provider of quality programs.

If you look up the ages of the actors, which I did, because I’m nosy that way, they’re all about the ages of their characters, give or take couple of years. I think British actors just don’t shoot their faces up with Botox and fillers, while they’re working in Britain anyway. It’s refreshing.

Congrats to Jason..I don’t watch award show of ANY kind..too much political involvement. I shall comment no further.

Set your self about 5 hours (plus drink breaks) to watch the first episode. You’ll need it.

I get that some won’t like the show, but 7 episodes? There’s some movies where and can’t get passed the first two minutes. If it wasn’t your cup of tea, you should’ve jumped off long ago and moved on.

It's ok but are you a subscriber for the Prime Videos or the other benefits? There isn't anything on video that would make me subscribe.
It's just one Prime subscription. I signed up to get free shipping and stuff. Prime Video and Music (which is ultra trash) are included.

I liked Hunters and The Boys on prime... why bash it completely? I loved Ted Lasso and I didn't think I would as I don't watch sports and I'm not big on comedy shows which it kind of is or is it?

I was baffled at why people where so in love with this show and wanted to really give it a chance, but in the end, my initial reaction was correct - the show was junk and a total waste of my time. I give it a C-.

The only shows I liked on AppleTV+ was Long Way Around (A+), Long Way Down (B), Long Way Up (B+)

Am I the only one that thinks this show is rubbish?
I wouldn’t call it rubbish but it does have a very thin, predictable storyline and many over the top caricatures. Combine that with childish humour and a thick layer of stereotyping and yes, you’ll end up with something slightly better than mediocre. The main thing holding this thing up is Jason and his naive optimism. But it’s something we can all use right now I guess.

Apple TV + is the only streaming service where I feel like I can click into literally anything and it’ll be 10/10. Can’t say the same for Netflix or (oh god) Prime.
I describe it a bit differently: Apple TV+ is the service where I know that the production values, casting, etc. will never be the reason I do not like a show. I may not like the genre or story idea, but even then it will be well executed.

Wow. I am not sure we watched the same show.

Definitely does not match my experience. What made the show amazing to me was how interesting the characters were and how then usually did something unexpected (but once it happened it made total sense for the character).

He is amazingly optimistic, but I would not say naive at all.

Well deserved, I binged watched the series in 6 hours over the holidays
It is funny. We very consciously watched only one episode a day (or two) to make it last as long as possible. I do go back and watch the darts scene every few weeks. 🙃

”Be curious, not judgmental.” Even when he wins he does not gloat.

Yup. It makes some of his actions later in the show, much easier to accept. While they were unexpected, they felt totally earned.
But the show also works because the other characters are amazing.
Amazing and fully fleshed-out.
And interestingly all characters act like real people. There is not a lot of artificial drama for the shows sake which is a a welcome relief.
So completely agree. They are flawed, but in ways that make sense, not in ways to make the writers’ lives easier, but the opposite. The writers almost always made the more interesting choice, but despite that, the choices always worked.
