If Apple wants to display confidence in their programming, they can start by not dropping entire seasons worth of episodes. If I eat one marshmallow per week, I will appreciate it more than getting an entire bag all at once!

While this is great for Apple and Jason, what's even greater about it is that the award was given to a show that dared to replace snark with heart.

There's hope for humanity yet!

Apple already predominantly releases episodes weekly. There have only been a few exceptions to date (Dickinson S1, Mythic Quest S1 being the bigger shows where the entire season dropped at once). Dickinson S2 has been weekly, and Id guess Mythic Quest S2 likely will too.

I'm embarrassed to say the trailer for the show led to believe I wouldn't like it. Last week I was bored so I watched the first episode, I couldn't stop watching. I ended up binge-watching the enitre first season. Loved it, one of my favourite shows now.

Interesting... I haven't watched it as the trailer put me off... based on what you've said I'll give the first few episodes a go.

could not agree more. It was a terrible trailer and marketing for a show that is incredible. The casting is flawless.

And let's not forget that it was all based on a terrible NBC Sports promo...

I, too, was shocked that they turned it into an entire series. But I was pleasantly surprised!

Excited for Season 2... I need more Lasso! :)

ONLY reason I have Prime Video is because it’s including in their prime package. I rarely open it.

Same here.

I remember watching one of the earliest Prime shows "Alpha House" with John Goodman. That was 7 years ago!?!?

And I watched the first season of "Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" in 2017.

But that's it. Prime doesn't get a lot of play from me. I have Prime for the shipping. :)

I started watching after Adam Savage gave it a triple AAA review. I have to say I found it cliche ridden, simplistic and cringingly sentimental. I managed about 4 episodes before bailing.

One thing about a show like this is that it's really not about football. You don't have to like football or any kind of sports to enjoy the show. Just like (in a *completely* different vibe), you don't have to like or know anything about American Football to enjoy The League.

This forum is Comedy Central. People here constantly trash AppleTV+ yet Apple's shows keep getting awards. Note to self and everyone else (while I've never followed any advice here for good reason) never listen to MR members blowing a bunch of air out of their rears, because that's all you're getting, air.

I didn't really get into it until a few episodes in, but then I wanted to keep watching. I think it was character development that I needed because the first episode just seemed strange when I watched it. I really do think he did a great job with the part and had me believing he was actually Lasso by mid season.

All of that said, I thought the last episode was stupid. I still laughed a few times, but the game scenes were pretty lame. I'm glad the rest of the show didn't focus on gameplay. It's fine I guess as they needed it to set up season 2.

After watching the show, we needed more Ted Lasso so I searched for the two promos. They were funny, but no where near as good at the show itself. I am glad I did not see them first, as I might not have watched the show. :)

While I had not seen the commercials, I had seen the trailer and probably would not have watched the show were it not for the review I read on LoopInsight.com

Me too.

Great light-hearted, feel-good show! I'm glad Jason got an award for it too.

I find it odd that this happens though:
1. Person hates Ted Lasso
2. Person clicks into thread about Ted Lasso

That'll show the internet! Go get 'em tiger.

And he was blaaaaazed. 😂

I was also a little skeptical, but by the end of the scene on the plane in the first five minutes of the first ep, I knew I was hooked.

He deserved the award, but the show? Not feeling it... Maybe I watch a fair number of HBO shows with some depth... this isn't it. Insanely predictable story. Ridiculous over the top script (Lion or Panda and Rebecca's interaction didn't add up - you don't care and don't have time, and suddenly... you do.). Darts... their pulling 180s, and doubling out on 170 in a pub? Come on. The needled the script to mention Apple stock amongst product placement? The team beat my Everton at Goodison - that's not a highlight of a team learning to win - that's a predictably horrible Everton bolloxing it up again.

The trailer and initial premise was of no interest to me but I thought I'd give it a whirl...worst case scenario it was a 30 minute or 60 minute loss if we tried a second episode.

BUT....we really liked it. Cliched parts, sure. but I felt the acting was SO MUCH better than Mythic Quest. We are looking forward to the next season(s).
