It says you can wear it 24/7. Don't you have to take it off to recharge it?
How long does it take to recharge?
Price is too high IMHO.

This has been done many times before the "Up". There are alarm clocks with wristbands from many major brands with this feature and the app stores are full of apps like that.
I personally owned an alarm clock like this and I think it helpef! Though the placebo effect is often underestimated...

Thanks for the info. You're right about the placebo effect. I think I'm going to give Sleep Cycle a try. It's only 99 cents.

I slept during the day yesterday and it a did a good job tracking my sleep. I took a long time to fall asleep and it caught that as well. Unfortunately I woke up before my band could wake me up due to external noises.

I bought Sleep Cycle just now after reading your post. Let me see how it works tonight.

i've used sleep cycle for about 3 months now...

works great! accurate and cool to see when you wake up.

still waiting for retailers to have UP in different colors in stock...

Just got one of these at an Apple store. When I went to the Boston store on Friday they were sold out of all but the small sizes; however, the New Hampshire store had a larger selection.

I think the design and simplicity are brilliant! It is comfortable to wear, which means a lot to me. It doesn't accurately count steps, but it is good enough for my purposes. It clearly charts periods of inactivity, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it records my sleep patterns. The food diary is cleverly integrated into the iPhone app and easy enough to use that I might be able to stick with it. On the other hand, the programming for setting up alarms clearly needs to be improved, or I just won't end up using that feature.

I'm super active, track every workout, everything I eat & drink. This is perfect for me even though it's version 1.0. If it only does half of what they claim, for a mere $100, it's a great deal. I'll find a retail store & pickup one when it's released.

The funny thing is, Nike already has a wrist band similar to this one. My wife has one. They just never promoted it and it's dedicated to excersize. All they have to do is update the software, add an acceleromter and rebadge it to be worn all the time and they are done.

The Nike Sportband is nothing like the Jawbone Up.

The Up's appeal is it's simplicity and being able to wear it 24/7 for 10 days straight without a recharge. Also, no other divide I've seen has a wake function like the Up, especially at the $99 price range.

I'm thinking about getting the up band but I'm wondering will the device itself get updates or will you need a new wristband all together?

There is a software version associated with both the app and the Up bracelet. This would lead me to believe that the bracelet will receive firmware updates too.

Worthless...

Had it since Friday and really wanted to like it. Doesn't track calories burned and requires lots to button pushing to track activity. Also the indicator lights are hard to see in daylight which incidentally is when you need them. Sleep thing is cool but the vibrate to wake also woke my wife which kills the point (still cool though). Ultimately just not sophisticated enough if you are already an active person. If you need help getting off the couch it may be of value but if you are trying to track your active lifestyle it will leave plenty to be desired. Mine is going back today...

Actually it does track calories. Gonna give it another week.

just checked the 2 targets in my town. The people that work there had no idea what it was, and had none. Same thing at Best Buy. Pretty disappointing...

Yup. Same thing that I encountered. Target had no clue and bb did not have them yet. If you want one just go to your nearest apple store. They had 9 this morning. When I went in they had one left. So far I like it.

picked up 2 yesterday, so stoked!

apple had them thursday, best buy saturday, and select target stores today.

so far, does everything i expected. works great, no flaws that i see as of yet. but, the app can deff use some work. not that its bad and doesn't do what it says its supposed to, just some simplicity would be nice.

also, some better social media integration would be nice. i.e connect to fb and/or twitter so that i can find my friends that are using UP.

in all, solid launch for a pretty cool product.

My boyfriend got one yesterday and really wanted to like it, too--but he has most of the same complaints. Lots of button-pushing required to tell it when you're doing certain things, inconvenient since it's not wireless, and feels awkward on your wrist.

He offered it to me, but I think I'll pass. :)
