Thanks for backing me up haha.

I can't deal with the people who keep claiming that their screens are pristine after years of usage. Our friend here is even saying that they place their phone FACE DOWN a lot and that nothing happens to the screen. You will literally get a microscratch or whatever within a week of ownership. Do people just not know how to look at the screen at an angle in direct sunlight? It's so frustrating to me. There is just literally a 0% chance that their glass survived a year of usage without a SINGLE blemish. That's not how glass works, especially when there are so many other things that can scratch the glass, most of them being tiny and hidden way whether in the air or in your pocket. Ugh!!

I baby my phone and when I don't use as screen protector I always get some lighting scratching in the coating. Can't be seen in normal light conditions but if you are out in the direct sun, you could see them.

I guess but unlikely. I would pocket my phone and never have anything else in my pocket and over time I ever got a few light scratches in the oleophobic coating.

I agree. I can definitely tell you I couldn't pull it. Like you said, all it takes is for a little bit of grit to get in your pockets (or even on your fingers).

Maybe this guy is just super clean lol! :p

I'll place my inputs on this thread - people who say there are no scratches, there are. Either you aren't looking hard enough for the sake of keeping that thought that it's scratch free, or you're not placing it in different angles under the sun. "But if I have to adjust how I view the phone, who cares about the scratch?" It's still a scratch at the end of the day, and that's that.

Now for people who are arguing, please just stop. It's just a phone - you're supposed to use this thing every day everywhere you go. To have the phone not damaged even in the micro-level is bad habit and will drive anyone insane. I encourage you to either participate in your mobile carrier's upgrade plan, or Apple's own. Use your phone however you want, then trade it in after 6 months or a year.
