You want the specs? It's a piece of aluminum with a screen, no physical keyboard and it runs osx. It's so new and exciting! It's going to change our lives!![]()
More detail please. Clearly you're in the know.

Those of you commenting on the impact of technology on human interaction and the human experience are dead on.
I am starting to feel like the main reason people do anything is to tweet about it or update their facebook status or text someone.
I was out to dinner last Friday night and I was amazed looking around at how many people were at a table with others and had their heads buried in their phones.
All of you commenting on this are 10 years late. Radiohead already beat you to it with OK Computer.
Is it really any surprise that people are this self-involved? The hilarious irony is that tech is supposed to make your life easier but in fact has added more burdens to our lives. All you have to know is that there are people on this forum who will buy this device, without any particular need for it, just because of the hype and wanting the next new thing from Apple. LOL, you even have them justifying the lack of a webcam.
Not only that but everyone keeps acting like it's going to be something from another world. Hello! Tablets are already on the market, just look at those and make them a little prettier, run osx, and put a glowing apple on it and there's your stupid tablet. I have a 13" MBP, so tell me what the hell is a tablet going to do that my MBP can't? I'll say it again, this tablet idea is so stupid and it just goes to show how the market can convince people something is "in" and "useful" when really they are just redesigning old crap and re-selling it to you.
What can your MBP do that my IBM System 3090 can't do?
It can light up it's keyboard? The point is that there is TO MUCH hype surrounding something as useless as a tablet computer. Doesn't matter if Willy Wonka ::cough:: Steve Jobs ::cough:: designs it or not. Don't ignore what's right in front of your face, it's a flat piece of aluminum with a screen and it runs OSX. What's so new, exciting, and game changing about that?
So there's no difference between a Dell laptop and a MBP, because they're both made of plastic, aluminum, and glass? An iphone and a motorola razor? A porsche and a ford?
Computers are judged by their molecular makeup and not by how they let you interact with them to get your work done?
Your comparison doesn't even work in this situation. Ford and Porsche? iPhone and razr? Those are completely different things. We are talking about two machines extremely similar but one doesn't have a physical keyboard. That's it.

Where is the tablet Beta and RC?How do you know? You know nothing about the tablet. Even the fact that it runs "OS X" means nothing. OS X takes many varied forms as widely different as Apple TV, iPhone OS, and Mac OS Server. The iPhone is just a keyboardless tiny device without a keyboard and running OS X, but that description doesn't begin to cover how useful the device is and how it allows one to do things one can't reasonably or conveniently do with a MBP.
First, don't pretend you have any idea what the tablet will be, because other than your description (aluminum, glass, and OS X) you know nothing.
Second, don't be such a spoilsport. The days of looking forward to a new OS release or a new computer release have essentially passed us. Apple is one of the few examples left of a company whose announcements are worth looking forward to, because every once in awhile they still manage to surprise and delight us. And the reasons for our surprise and delight have nothing to do with checklists of features.
The tablet might rock, or it might be horribly disappointing. But Apple is one of the few companies from which we have high enough expectations to allow them to be able to disappoint us, and that's what the hype is all about.

Pricing for the iSlate:
$799 for the 32GB model
$899 for the 64GB model
Mark
Some would argue that the first generation tablet will be the beta and the second generation tablet would be the release candidate. That would make the third generation tablet the true release.Where is the tablet Beta and RC?![]()
Which means what? That you are boring?I agree and I think the iSlate will make it worse. My wife already spends more time on the iPhone at restaurants and before and after sex than she does "eating".
Therefore Steve is evil and should be eliminated.
Which means that Apple is actually listening. Wow.Apple: "We had this excellent product nearly ready for release, but the buzz rose to such a level that the bar was raised to where our product could only be seen as a massive disappointment. So you can all blame it on yourselves. We got nothing, sorry."
Have you seen the prices of SSD? I mean these are still sky high, and thus it will either have less to little storage, or be too expensive for most people.People are saying already NO WAY from what they have heard will it be a low as 32GB. Most think it will be at least 64GB entry - 128GB with the high-end model being 256GB.
No one knows for sure, but that is what most podcasts that have guests on are saying the storage will start at for a tablet type of device. Otherwise, it's just a glorified iPod Touch.

I would; absolutely. If there is email on the slate than it would be nice to be able to attach photos taken right then and there. I can imagine using my tablet, seeing something cool somewhere and just clicking on the camera icon to capture the moment immediately, rather than putting the tablet down, digging out my iPhone, unlocking it and opening the camera app. It would be convenient.
Reading some of these posts is a little like hanging out at an insane asylum where people feel free to shout out whatever thought pops into their heads.
If that's what Apple is going to use then yes, but I don't expect people to purchase a $1000+ non-upgradeable gadget / slate~tablet. Not even from Apple. Or it needs to have some sort of expansion slot.SSD's are different from the Flash storage the iPods use. They are far cheaper which is why you see 64GB in the touch. A 64GB SSD is still very expensive at around $200. That being said, I don't see much purpose in a 256GB hard drive for something that is meant for books. If it is a computer that's different.
Sekots said:I really doubt Apple would fail to put a camera on the new tablet. Apple is a company that seems to put a big importance on photography and video capturing and loves cramming a camera into anything. Hell, even the iPod nano has a camera.
[Pinches self]Someone just said something about population control. No one says anything about population control. People don't care about population control.
I think the tablet will sell well for applications in classrooms and hospitals where a camera could be a distraction or liability, respectfully.
