Considering how thin the rims on Job's glasses were, where would the AR hardware go?
Perhaps all the processing would be done on a phone or watch, leaving space for the glass projection, small battery, and wireless.

Details seem way too specific for a product to be launched in 18 months. Product names are marketing details that don't get finalized until late in the product launch cycle. This "leak" is likely to be a canary trap scheme where Apple feeds specific information to find leakers.
Indeed. Tim Apple is probably mad at the rumors matching up with reality.

The Lunor Classic Rund spectacles depicted in Gurman's Twitter sculpture are lacking the bridge pads. It's painful just to look at.

I like John Prosser, I think he seems genuine and has had some really good ‘insider information’ on Apple products, but he’s got to be smart enough to know he’s being baited. So my guess is, maybe he’s following along with this, because This just creates more of a frenzy and a notoriety for him. Ultimately, does it hurt his reputation? We won’t know until this actually comes to fruition, if at all.

Apple could introduce a ‘limited edition’ Steve Jobs-inspired plastic phone case (complete with Steve Jobs’ silkscreened signature in plastic faux gold) for $20,000 and they’d have no shortage of mobs that will sell their lives to the devil to obtain one.

And by that point people will have forgotten what he said. And even if people remember, he can just say that Apple changed their plans which wouldn’t be weird at all.

It’s really a win-swim for him.

Lol it wouldn’t surprise me if Apple has two different teams working on two different prototypes of the same product at the same time with no communication between the two. That would explain both Prosser’s and Gurman’s leak lol. Great way of figuring out where the leak’s coming from

95% of the product will leverage the iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch. The display will have a wireless power receptor and the inline displays will be microLED based composite layers that provide a heads up display feature set.

The whole thing doesn’t make sense, logistically. Why would they want to produce frames? What are the odds that a large segment of the population will want one of a handful of styles, and be fine with looking the same as many others?

We’ll find out soon enough.

So you’re Jon Prosser’s source

Apple works in mysterious ways, and you’re right, they could totally change the trajectory of how they release this product, when they decide to release this and/or we know they are in the testing phase behind the scenes if there are multiple products or just one. There’s so many unknown factors, I don’t suspect this will hurt John Prosser‘s credibility, but like I said before, he’s had to be smart enough to realize nothing would come this easy for him to have access to such a secretive product like the Apple glasses.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Apple begins to feed Prosser with fake info to discredit him.
But wouldn’t Prosser be able to figure that out? It seems like others in the rumor mill basis are jealous this guy is getting scoops. 9to5Mac wont report on any of his stuff.

Having said that this latest rumor does seem unlikely.

Wow some of you guys....just hating on Jon Prosser. Seriously.

maybe stop coming to a site called Mac Rumours if you don’t want any rumours?

Could he have in an incorrect source? Who knows. Yes? No? He has been working on this story since before the SE launch

9to5mac doesn’t even report on him, that might be a better site for those of you who are keyboard warrioring your disdain for Prosser to visit, if you’re just going to complain about information. He has been pretty rock solid, he didn’t just wake up and make this report. He has been working on this for a long time. He is confident in his sources. Let’s see if he’s right or wrong.

Also it’s important to note there is no beef between Gurman and Prosser, they both respect each other and have said as much on Twitter, beyond these comments in the story.

Important detail here— he said they aren’t using a projector of any kind and are just using some kind of display inside the glasses lens. This is actually impossible. Breaks the laws of physics impossible. Your eyes can’t focus on a screen at that distance without another lens in between to focus your eyes. That’s why a VR headset is so bulky. You can get around this by projecting images into your eye, however...
