They better start churning the hype train early with these leaks so people can wrap their heads around this new tech they don't need, want. or understand

Guys really!! why all the hate and disbelief in jon? All the comments saying they don’t believe him, apple is just trying to get the source, they don’t believe that a product as AR glasses is even happening and impossible, did you even think before commenting.

If any of you are following apple rumors or even if you took a minute to read the replies under mark tweet you would know that it’s a fact that apple is working on AR glasses, mark himself acknowledged that in a reply to jon under his own tweet , kuo who is the most trusted apple leaker and analytic has been saying for more than two years now that apple is working on them. It’s not about if it’s just about when will apple release such product. Mark himself said it’s happening 22/23 so did kuo.

Those who say it’s impossible to create such products, are you aware the first computer was as large as a big room or the phone in your hands is billions time powerful and efficient than the first spaceship to the moon computer.

Those who say that apple is trying to get the leaker, jon himself said he’s been working on this leak for a couple of months even before the release of iPhone se, he was just waiting to confirm the info. If apple is trying to flush out the source by feeding false info, then this may happen in the future when jon receives new info and takes the bait not an old one from couple of months now. If you believed his last leaks then you have to believe this one too as they are within the same timeframe.

Also he himself said he has two videos one for a prototype and other for the os (starboard) which was revealed last year IOS 13 has a traces of it in it’s code. It’s impossible to think especially in these times where the world is facing a pandemic and the whole world on lock down that apple put resources in creating prototypes and a working OS for it just to flush out a leaker.

This case is just about two persons having different sources where one source is having more updated info than the other, most likely two from different teams working on two different prototypes exactly like the first iPhone and only time will tell which is the one that will get released.

Apple could introduce a ‘limited edition’ Steve Jobs-inspired plastic phone case (complete with Steve Jobs’ silkscreened signature in plastic faux gold) for $20,000 and they’d have no shortage of mobs that will sell their lives to the devil to obtain one.

What better to honour the man who disliked cases than offering a case with his name? Genius!

Agreed, some of the people in this thread saying as such shows they don’t know the facts and this product.

Jon hasn’t lost any credibility as he’s been spot on all year.

gurman seems a bit bitter that he is no longer the main apple leaker and he seems to be running out of ideas to report On things.
Gurman still reports but he doesn’t really get leaks like he did before. And I always got the feeling he doesn’t really know the inner workings of Apple so often times outside of the specific rumor he gets things wrong. John Gruber really took apart his story on Apple employees returning to the office.

Apple Glass name is too ordinary for a revolutionary product.

iLens is more appropriate as the naming scheme for Apple wearable Augmented Reality Glass.

Apple doesn’t do new iThings anymore.
Of course never say never but at the moment that naming scheme sounds like an old idea.

This is BS for multiple reasons but the main oneis how the hell could they fit all the components in a frame that thin? They can’t even make an Apple Watch thin so something as complicated as this certainly would need a much larger frame to fit all the components in.

It’s hilarious to see so many people take this seriously.

lol, Intel already made workable prototypes of their own version two years ago

Remember, the idea is that all the processing is done by your phone, not the glasses. You don’t need to fit much in the frames.

This is funnier to me than it should be…he fell so easily for a trick after Apple decided they wanted to get rid of him.

Oh well!

Seriously? You guys at Macrumors are buying into this idea? I mean this is just the icing on the cake of really bad rumours.

Well after watching that video, i sure hope it’s nothing like that. There is no consumer device in the Intel prototype. That’s something that may have appeal for industrial applications.

I'm confused as to what you expect Apple Glass to be, then? It's going to be a heads-up display, fed by your phone, inside wearable glasses that you can presumably interact with in a (very) basic way. Just like the Apple Watch...which is basically a device to let you quickly see what's going on with your phone. Nothing more.

Details seem way too specific for a product to be launched in 18 months. Product names are marketing details that don't get finalized until late in the product launch cycle. This "leak" is likely to be a canary trap scheme where Apple feeds specific information to find leakers.

While I agree with you that most of the time product names aren’t finalized until the last minute, I’m guessing for products like this, the marketing name has been decided a long time ago.
The iPhone was probably gonna be called the iPhone two years before it came out. Same with the Apple Watch.
However, a product like the iPhone 11 promax probably didn’t get that name until after it was designed and ready to go.
I agree that this leak might be a little far-fetched, but everything else sounds pretty Apple like to me. That price might be slightly off, and the release timeline is extremely unclear, but everything else sounds like something that Apple would do.

That would be so unlike Apple, but who the heck knows anymore.
Completely unlike Apple. Even the iPhone X wasn't the "10th Anniversary Edition" that some people expected it to be. Apple looks forward, not back.

Plus, the Apple Watch Edition was not a marketing stunt in the way some people think. Apple released it to get the fashion industry to take the Apple Watch seriously. There is no way the Apple Watch would have graced the covers of Vogue and GQ without it, but Apple never really cared if anybody actually bought it or not (although it was of course happy to take their money).

Tell that to the hundreds of gold Apple Watch’s that were never sold, the homepods that are refusing to sell, and the new MacPro that even some of the most enthusiastic Apple fan boys can’t even buy.

Companies don't decide on a marketing name until close to launch in order to maintain secrecy. Especially Apple.

There is a reason Apple uses codenames like N421. The moment you assign a marketing name, nobody uses the codename and the secret is out. So it makes zero sense to have a product scheduled for 2022-2023 already have a marketing name.

Each year, nobody (except maybe Phil Schiller) is certain about what the annual iPhone is called until late summer. There is an operational reason for this.

Important detail here— he said they aren’t using a projector of any kind and are just using some kind of display inside the glasses lens. This is actually impossible. Breaks the laws of physics impossible. Your eyes can’t focus on a screen at that distance without another lens in between to focus your eyes. That’s why a VR headset is so bulky. You can get around this by projecting images into your eye, however...
Actually, that IS possible, in fact, it’s the cutting edge of HMD optics. There are new “wave guide” systems that are unlike the conventional “optical mixing” AR methods where you use prisms or semi-silvered mirrors to project an AR image over the real scene. There are other new technologies, check them out on the Wikipedia article.

Which is irrelevant

It’s about now. It’s took Jon until now to get into the leaking business. Past success and how many leaks before doesn’t mean much it’s about the now

If it's about the now, let me tell you a secret. Apple Car's seating arrangement is similar to the back-of-the-limo style where everyone is facing each other. There will be no front row seat looking forward because it's going to be a full self driving car.

Who cares about my past right? It's all about now. So you have to trust me now, by your logic.

Where is that statistic posted?
Google AppleTrack. I don't think I can post a direct link as it might be a competitor to MR. (I have no affiliation to that website)

You can buy the original Steve Jobs glasses here
https://lunor.com/en/collection/classic-rund/ platinum or antique silver
As previously mentioned I have a couple of pairs of them. I bought them for the quality and uniqueness, not because they were Steve Jobs’.
Anyway near me there is no retailers who sell them. So my first pair I had to buy from the only distributor in the UK. I went for antique silver because I don’t like the shine platinum gives. Research into the glasses beforehand suggested that Steve had platinum ones. Speaking to the distributor who has very close ties to Lunor, I explained why I wanted them in that colour, she explained to me that despite it being reported that Steve had the platinum version, he actually had the antique silver ones, and explained that he did so for exactly the very same reason as I did.
If you read his autobiography there is an example of him preferring brushed steel over stainless and chrome because of his aversion to the shine those metals create.

Steve also had multiple pairs, and over the years he had many many different ones, more so than any normal person would wear over their lifetime. Apparently the people at Lunor we’re under the impression that he wouldn’t wear the same pair for 2 consecutive days, quite like how some people refuse to wear the same leather shoes for 2 consecutive days.
