Apple has secured a multi-year deal with writer, producer, and former host of "The Daily Show" Jon Stewart, which will see him returning to TV following his 2015 retirement, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Stewart will once again host a current affairs show, exploring topics at the center of national conversation. There's no title yet for the series, which will feature hourlong single-subject episodes. Stewart and former HBO chief Richard Plepler will serve as executive producers.

During his 20 year tenure at Comedy Central, Stewart won more than 20 Emmys and served as a major voice in American political satire. Since he left "The Daily Show," he has served as an executive producer for "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" and has appeared on other talk shows.

The series won't feature daily or weekly episodes, but will have a companion podcast as part of Apple's efforts to develop original podcast content.

I hope it’s better than Irresistible

It wasn’t politically offensive to me, I think it actually did a decent job critiquing both parties for a Hollywood product, just a snooze fest.

Plepler. If this is what the ex-HBO chief guy can bring to the table, I’m liking this hire more and more.

This is one of the biggest TV exclusives, period. Even though I don’t agree with Stewart’s politics (like Oprah’s), I can recognize his massive popularity and what he brings to TV+ as a spotlight.

Will Apple allow Stewart to say some of the words he uttered as host of The Daily Show or will Apple consider them inappropriate since Apple wants TV+ to be a wholesome family oriented platform?
Like the F word? Or the B word? Or S word? You are way out of line if you think you can pass judgment on Apple having clearly never seen any content from TV+. Morning Show has copious obscene language. Many other shows have colorful language as well, including the wholesome Ted Lasso.

Literally the first sentence spoken in Apple's premiere show... The Morning Show... included the word F#¢k

And the F-word continued throughout the series.

So no... I don't think Jon's language will be an issue for Apple... :p

Most effective news that’s a win-win for the public, fourth estate and government that I’ve seen emerge in the last 4 years. This is like holding a fire to a Biden administration’s feet. Journalism‘s toehold back to investigative reporting has a platform in Apple+.
Laugh because its funny that comedy can only call a kettle black in this twisted reality of a world. Not even the CDC Dr. Fauci has legitimacy in the aftermath of twisted policy.
Thank you John for coming out of retirement. I look forward to your return. I support the Apple+ platform. I hope the show is a massive success for you, Apple and all democratic peoples around the world.

Wow, it would be good for everyone to be able to access Stewart outside of Apple TV. Hopefully it will show up on Youtube or his webpage as well. Unfortunately, as a comedian, he provided more reliable news than any of the big stations in the US
