Do not forget that trump’s base is about 15% of this country. About 1/6 commenters is going to be pretty far out toward the right. ‘Course, the reverse is true as well, they just don’t get triggered quite as easily due to MR leaning liberal on the whole. (I’ve been watching these forums for some years now and it is a thing)

I think Trump's base is closer to 30-40% in all honesty. I'm not here to editorialize on that – I'm sure that sounds wonderful to some people and absolutely terrifying to others (I have my own strong feelings but try to contain myself).

Current affairs = liberal politics. Not sure how successful it will be if Biden wins and Democrats control all of congress.

Lots of gentle, harmless ribbing and maximum obfuscation aka The Obama Years™️.

It will be interesting to see the direction this goes. Colbert/Stewart used to give stage (albeit satirical) to Conservative/Liberal voices, respectively, but it has since become far less balanced.
They were great, never missed not one single show from them. But this new(now old) dude in Daily show is terrible. So obviously bias it hurts. Hoping for this show to be critical to all sides, but under Apple and Tim Cook i doubt it.

This news is enough to leverage my paying for a 2nd year of Apple TV. With the current DC regime that’s hijacked reason and truth, Stewart’s “Voice of Reason” has been sorely missed for the last 5 years. While the other late night talk show hosts (Colbert, Kimmel & Meyers) have been entertaining, none have the view and delivery of Jon Stewart.

Prayers to the Entertainment ________(fill in your own choice of deity) seems to have worked — Stewart is taking to my screen again!

Like the conservatives won't still be doing stupid things after that. Plus Biden isn't some golden child who will never do anything stupid. They will always be good material in the US political system, one could say there are good stories on both sides.

Apple stay neutral and no political side like Stephen Colbert. Stewart is way better than Colbert.

Will Apple allow Stewart to say some of the words he uttered as host of The Daily Show or will Apple consider them inappropriate since Apple wants TV+ to be a wholesome family oriented platform?
Wait - you actually think Jon would have signed on with Apple if they wouldn't let Jon be Jon?
C'mon man. If that were somehow an issue, there is/was a long line behind Apple that would be thrilled to have him on their team.

And you actually think Plepler would sign on with Apple if they were only doing family-friendly programming? The competition is stiff. Family-friendly will be but one category of their service - as evident by what they currently offer. While it obviously won't be for everyone, TV+ seems intent on being for more than just families.

That's because the conservative side has become more and more ridiculous and corrupt. Their core is to steal from the poor and give to the rich while pretending that's not true with very clever three word slogans. The liberals have some ridiculous and corrupt stuff too, but they are swamped by the conservative side these days.
1986 called...they want their cliched criticism back...

US based folks throwing the word “liberal” around need to be reminded that our British and other European friends have a VERY different understanding of what liberal means. Example: the Liberal Democratic Party in Britain is a laze-faire, pro market “moderate” party that is (in theory) to the right of the Labour Party but to the left of the Tories. Liberal outside the US is generally regarded as centrist or center-right.

Macrumors does have a pretty large readership from Britain and I know there are a few readers from mainland Europe also.

The only 3 word slogan I can think of is; "Hope and Change" :)

Sadly, “conservative” media outlets here have been working doggedly for decades to make “liberal” a bad word. They’ve got their followers convinced it’s the same as socialism (it isn’t) and that socialism is horrible (it isn’t). My Australian friends tell me that the US “right” is pretty crazy far right, and the US “left” is somewhere between centrist and slightly right, compared to the rest of the world. And a lot of our “conservative” media (like Fox) are... pretty close to State TV in an authoritarian regime, with how incredibly slanted and misleading (and often outright untrue) it is.

These kinds of comments are frustrating because like so much of social media in 2020 it’s not grounded in any kind of reality. It just sounds like an echo of other rumors & speculation about the service—and not even recent ones. This feels like a comment someone would have made a year ago, before Apple TV+ launched. But speculation like this has been made moot by the content they’re actually streaming. ATV+ shows have blood, guts, violence, adult situations, and plenty of bleep worthy dialogue.

You’d think it’d be obvious with Jason Mamoa being given a show on the platform.

I, as an American, actually learned this the hard way 10 years ago after hearing about the formation of the Cameron/Clegg coalition government. I still remember being confused how “liberals” could share a government with “conservatives” because I was indoctrinated into the American meaning of the word. Needless to say, I spent a lot of time over the last 10 years learning what “liberal” actually means and why, in many ways, a parliamentary system might be a bit better.
