Okay, if that was machined from a single bloack of Aluminum it would have been approximately 3'X3'x6' or 54 cu ft of Aluminum. If they left 5% of that block that means that 51.5 cu ft of waste (approximately). I like the recyclability factor, but maybe something that is artisitic and efficient is in order?

They waste a LOT less with the design of the MBP's. And for the record, yes, I know the waste is recyclable. Still that's a LOT of wasted energy.

It's not just "recyclable". In aluminium production, the biggest cost factor is the amount of electricity needed to extract aluminium from bauxite. Once it is extracted, that 51.5 cubic feet of "waste" is just melted and you create a new block from it at a tiny fraction of the cost for the first block. Turning bauxite into usable blocks of aluminium is expensive. Turning scraps of aluminium into usable blocks of aluminium is cheap.
