Oh would you be quiet with that common sense garbage.... /s

Everything can be taken too far and often when something (like thin-ness) becomes institutionalized as a "feature" of the brand - it can become a "required" feature without doing a reality check on the need for that "feature". Doing that can give you phone's so thin you have the camera protruding even though it didn't have to be that way and would have still been a thin phone. I hope they push back on this drive for thin-ness in the future. I could see them bringing back Titanium for strength though.

Capt. Obvious, i know ;)

Ditto! Hoping for a 6S in 5S form factor, but chances are, we'll have to wait until 7. They've never changed physical shape between # and #S devices.

In the meantime, I had to buy a used 5S back after selling mine too early, before finding out how unappealing the 6 is to me.

The vast, vast majority of people wouldnt notice the "lines". Criticizing this one feature spreads through this particular website because people read it, notice it, and generally parrot it without much thought. This website is a small microcosm that is not reflective of normal people's thoughts, reactions etc.

indeed.

The new 6 design is stunning, with clear character.

I think most of the local critics want it to be plain and generic looking.

When are some of you going to get over the antenna lines?

----------

someone should ask him directly if he likes the protruding lens.

if he says yes, then he is a liar and a poser

:confused:If he didn't like it he wouldn't of released it.

While the I like the design of the iPhone 6 and 6+ with its rounded edges, the styling is nothing new.

Look at the Fifth Generation iPod Touch, with the exception of the back top and bottom edges having an separation frame, the styling is almost identical to the 5GiPT. Both even have the camera lenses sticking out from the back of the case a bit.

Put a cell phone chip-set, microphone, speaker and the right antenna design, you could make the 5GiPT a "iPhone 6 mini." You can already make Skype called from the 5GiPT already with a headset.

Well, every single review I've read/watched has seemed to note that they don't look so hot...

I just wanna know why the couldn't color the lines differently, so they'd blend in better. Surely color has nothing to do with their function?

Did you ever think that it might take better pictures if the lens protrudes? :apple:

Most real cameras protrude! :D I don't think he is a liar or a poser! Those DLSR cameras have some really horrible protruding lenses! :)

Speak for yourself! Ever hear that Beauty is in the eye of the beholder? :apple:

Enough.

The iPhone 6 is 6.9mm thin, and the thinnest smartphone camera module ever made, without a lens, is 5.5mm thin.

Exactly... the design is amazing and nothing more needs to be said. VERY happy with my iPhone 6, it's the best phone ever IMO!

About the theft of intellectual property... in 1789, people understood it. Why not in China now?

Exactly... WHAT antenna lines? I like the back of my phone. All phones have an antenna and the DESIGN of the antenna is pretty farking amazing because it has more bands and better reception than any other mobile antenna on the market.

Ok, now that you got phablets out of your system, please bring back a normal size screen with iPhone 7! I went to the store and played with a 6 and it is just way to big for a phone, which is what just about all of my friends are saying too - even the ones who bought a 6. (The 6+ bendy phone is just too silly to even consider.) I'll be hanging on to my 5S until there is a 4" model again, or better still a 3.5". Jobs was right about that.

I take it you like the ugly recessed look?

I prefer the 'no extra junk sticking out the back when I want to lay it on my desk' look. Why is that hard to understand?

Apple made bigger-screened prototypes years before, but they were "clunky."

Interesting choice of words by Mr. Ive considering the massive amounts of bezel still present in all iPhone models since day one.

I bet you dollars to donuts there will indeed be an "iPhone 7 Mini"...

I'm probably in the minority, but I wish Apple would return to their roots where they kept mum about everything. They're in the limelight way too much nowadays.

They're really too big to fly under the radar these days. Biggest company in the world, or close to it I believe.

I didn't like the antenna bands on the iPhone 6/6+ at first. But when I saw the device in person, I think that photos just don't do it justice, it's a gorgeous device.

On the iPhone 6's rounded edges, Ive says that Apple opted to go back to rounded edges because they were necessary to make the device feel less wide. Apple made bigger-screened prototypes years before, but they were "clunky."

That makes sense. The early big phones were clunky as hell and that's what Apple meant by saying they wouldn't make one until it made sense.

Ive said, 'Apple made bigger-screened prototypes years before, but they were "clunky"'.

So, it seems his priority was to balance the ease of holding larger phones (by making them thin with rounded edges); include a great camera (needs a degree of width to function)—all with sufficient to good battery life (which they've achieved, IMO).

That one comment where he mentions missing weekends with his family to help produce these products really made me stop for a second. When we see super successful people and people who make enormous amounts of money, we tend to not consider their ongoing sacrifices. We see someone like Ives and we often just assume that at his level, there is no longer a need for continuous late nights and weekends working.

You just figure that they work a few hours a day and then go home to take a dip in vault of money or whatever really rich people do (Think Uncle Scrooge of Duck Tales). You know for sure they don't work weekends. The fact is when you get to the top, sometimes you have to work harder than ever before to maintain that status. I actually really admire those who continue to be driven, even at the top and don't just become totally dependent on the hard work of the young talent around them to get things done, then show up for the award ceremonies.

I have worked with super rich. And I can tell you that those people work all the time any time. Even if they are at home they will be doing something job related.

I do believe that they deserve the money that they get because they work really hard. This is not to say that there are other people who work very hard and not make much money but the rich people deserve their money.

One wonders did the late Steve Jobs had design input in the early design of the iPhone 6 and 6+ models. Given his mantra of being able to operate most of the functions of the phone with one hand, I'm not sure if Jobs would have approved going to the 4.7" screen size for the iPhone 6, even if the thickness of the phone was reduced.

You know what the problem with this statement is? It's the "I do believe".

Why does Ive seem like his thoughts are not coherent? Don't get me wrong I love the new phones. just seems odd he can't put together a sentence without having to stop in the middle.
