No. One of the reasons why I don't want it. Do I need an iPhone/Mac/etc to take full advantage of the data it gathers? Can it be used/processed/analysed on the actual watch itself? Will people end up playing Candy Crush and Angry Birds on their watches now? Will watches be banned from classrooms during exams? No thank you. I rather not buy a watch that requires constant recharging. Hell, I am sick of replacing the battery in my current watch every so often. I am getting a mechanical automatic movement next.

I am almost certain the watch you are describing (android wear style) is absolutely not what the iWatch will look or act like. Apple isn't making a tiny smartphone for your wrist.

Nice dissertation professor, but I'm not sure what any of that has to do with my comment on Apple managment clothing style.

Just the straw that broke the camel's back.

Thanks for proving my point about conversation though.

Johnny boy is right, I just canceled my order of a $50,000 Rolex for a couple hundred dollar plastic iWatch

What Rolex did you order for $50K? The white gold GMT Pepsi dial is only $42K USD and Platinum Daytona is ~$75K. I can't think of what Rolex slots in at the $50K segment.

Looks like the d**che bags are out again flaunting their wealth and about what they can afford. Lol. No one cares what you wear on your wrist. Does it work for you? Great. If not buy something that will. I can't believe forum members are actually arguing about what Jony Ive allegedly said. Well this rumor worked. This thread has over 400replies.

The best thing about picking on Switzerland is they can't fight back. They have to stay neutral!

I still don't get the hype behind this new wearable 'i' device. It genuinely fascinates me how excited some are getting, I can't wait to see what apple have actually created.

Personally though, I'm 22 and I love wearing my watch with the good old fashioned hour/minute/second hands.

A solar powered face, radio controlled timekeeping and sapphire display (Yes my Citizen Eco-drive beat apple to it!) is as 'smart' as I want. Couldn't be happier, and it looks great!

He was buying a Folex

I agree with you on the Eco-Drive. I'm looking for the Healthkit aspect, as rumored. Home kit too! (I'm an old X10, then Zwave home automationist.

I dont wear watches. Im not going to suddenly start now... All of the wearables I've seen thus far are just watches....and basically a nothing new to see here feel.

Shutup Ive nobody's going to cross shop a Swiss watch with your cheesy gadget.

I noticed this isn't playing over on Macfacts.com

There is something marvelous about a fine mechanical watch. Digital watches, not so much anymore.

does this count as a post about a rumor that we should not post about?

if apple is making it the battery life will only last 8-14 hours, great idea for a watch

watch out Rolex,Tag, Omega you're in big big trouble

heck I dont even think Timex is scared of the iWatch

I'll keep my ultra reliable Tag I bought in 2002 over any smart watch. I get 4 years battery life out of mine. Smart watches can kiss my ass...

As much as I'm anticipating the iWatch, I'm not sure I'm about to abandon my 38-watch collection (from new Tags, Raymond Weils, to mid-1900's vintage watches).....then again....I'm torn....

I think the biggest obstacle is getting a lot of people to wear the same thing.

Therefore it seems mandatory that there is some easy way to customize whatever the thing is.

That might be the ability to change bands. Or display surrounds. Or if the entire thing is a display, a background theme.

Apple do love their self-promotion.. I wonder how many times "incredible" and "beautiful" will be used during the keynote.

Anyone for Keynote Bingo on the 9th?

The world's first Swiss watch made in China.

Revolutionary.

Regrettably many "Swiss" watches are made in China... At least if my mailbox offering me $200 Rolexes is anything to go by.

Personally I love Swiss watches for their avant-grade ingenuity. However I see great beauty in many of Ive's designs and can envisage an iWatch becoming my regular daily wearer for its potentially greater facility.

This said, it will be interesting to see the price points of these watches. Whilst one can justify several thousand dollars for a Swiss heirloom, the same cannot necessarily be said for a device with a two-year lifespan (and the time is ticking on your depreciation from the moment you put it on).

People that buy $10,000-$50,000 watches aren't going to not buy them because of Apple.

There was an interview with one of the luxury watch vendors CEO back when the first digital watches came out in the 70's. The interviewer asked about the threatening competition from digital watches, and the CEO gave back the answer "We're not in the watch business. We're in the Jewelry business."

The Swiss watchmakers have nothing to worry about.

Kudos to your recognition!
Apple really has learned how to make their phones statements of art from the Swiss watches. In fact, most female owners of iPhones buy them because of the jewelry like quality, and the male counterpart, for the engineering innovation.
