Why is the "9" in the 3:00 position on the watch.

I'm guessing that's the date?

As for Ive wearing the gold watch... Considering that a million people pre-ordered the device he designed without ever even seeing one, I feel like he's earned it. Clearly, he provides immense value to the company.

And maybe he just likes gold? If I had big bucks, I wouldn't be terribly interested in a rose or yellow gold Edition, but I would definitely like a white gold or platinum model. Different people just prefer different finishes, and if he can afford it, why not?

Surprised Tim doesn't have one. Guess he think it's too expensive... or it could send the wrong image. Steve also looks like the type who would've preferred the SS model.

Tim doesn't sport one because he doesn't want to send a message of superiority. Jony seems like he loves everything luxury so it suits him. Plus he's not the CEO so doesn't need to care about image as much.

Why do we have to assume there's some ulterior motive? Maybe Tim just isn't a fan of gold?

Why do you assume Tim does not like gold???

Why do you assume he's purposely not wearing gold to not appear a certain way?

Everything is about perception

I prefer people to be real. Since I have nothing else to go on I'm going to assume Tim Cook is wearing the stainless steel watch because that is his preference not because he thanks wearing the gold watch would make him look a certain way.

Why do you think he should wear an edition version ? I said I respect him for his choice. Though as you will not let it go, justify to yourself why he should wear the gold version, being the individual that will give his wealth away to charity! You see what I did there? Read up on Tim Cook mate, he made his intentions public, and would explain why the edition version would be out of character for him ;)

Hmm...in this photo it looks like he may be wearing the SS watch.

This is from a "luxury convention keynote". I think it is only fitting that he is wearing the gold one since the discussion was mainly based on the gold model.

Hard to tell if it's gold or stainless. Could be yellow gold with midnight blue buckle.

I've seen him wearing rose gold with white sport band but that obviously wouldn't look right with a suit.

I would think he has a dozen combos for whatever he's wearing. I would too if I was a multi millionaire.

That's the date. The date (and day for watches with it) typically goes at the 3 o'clock position. Take a look at watches like the Rolex Datejust.

Reading the forums lately is painful how many people never even know what a regular watch looks like. Now all the kids think they're cool.....even though watches have been around for a loooong time.

Regarding all the comments about gaining weight, it's no secret that the neck gets fatter as men get older, even if they maintain the same weight. It's just part of the normal aging process especially in men. You might want to think twice before concluding that he has ballooned up.

Likewise, the earlobes get longer as one gets older (women too).

He's 48...

Maybe he doesn't like gold but I'm sure his PR people wouldn't want him strolling around in a $20k watch even though he's the CEO of the company that built it. It's about appearing humble and down to earth and approachable.
