Amen. I saw that photo and my initial thought was, "damn, I'm grateful I don't work there." They can have all the rest, if I can't work due to endless, idiotic distraction then it's pointless. But I think that you and I are a certain type of worker who has problems with this. Some people don't care.
Raise your monitors to create a makeshift cubicle lol

Seems not even apple keeps up on the work place psychology research which has shown time and time again that open workspaces actually increase employee anxiety and reduce productivity.

It's just one of those cult mentality things. When you have a corner office with a window and door that shuts (err... the spaceship doesn't have corners, I guess) you don't actually have to live with the consequences of your "open plan" decision.

Apple staff probably spend most of their lives working there, so yea i can see why it's so great. People dedicate their lives to Apple so it's detrimental they have a great working environment.

I don't think you meant detrimental.

I think you can definetly count Philip W. Schiller as one of them, he has been "growing", he definetly need the "Thinning threatment" from Ive!

With the assumption about Phil's rate of 2000 daily lunches, I am relieved about his and Joni's health.
While their productivity/overweight ratio, that seemed slightly alarming, really deserves respect.

This guy has bought into his own press and crawled so far up his own a## that he's a really detached, unlikable person.

Aside from your anguish against Jony Ive. Honest question, how is Ive unlikable if you never met him? Have you ever had a personal interaction with him?

The reciprocity you assume isn't there.
A public figure is widely known about his/her characteristics.
Implying that @BigDO can have an opinion about him, but Ive probably can't the other way around.

"Apple employees have to pay for food, but at a somewhat subsidized rate, the report said."

The reason for this is interesting: Apple was fined for the IRS for providing free meals but not including them as benefits in employee tax forms in the mid 1990s. They had to sign an agreement not to do this any more, the most they can do is provide them at cost.

If you think about it you can see why. The more the IRS allows companies to provide untaxed benefits that the employees would otherwise pay for themselves, the more these benefits will tend to be substituted for wages. But when Bush Jr. came to power the IRS suddenly stopped focusing on things that mostly affect more affluent employees in favor of persecuting the poor.

I'm not being dismissive of the OP's opinion, which I'm not interested the opinions of Ive when I mentioned "Aside". I am interested when I asked legitimate questions based on what interaction Has this individual encountered with Ive.

Yes, they should have moved Apple to a rusty old shed instead so that they can continue to make their products in a more conducive environment.

As Apple nears the $1Trillion mark, Android army unleashes on Apple symbol of success and prosperity. CNN breaking news banner ," unnamed sources reveal "Apple products said to be rusty and poorly made."

The complaint has validity. If they're going to rob the earth of trees at least plant them on the outside perimeter where they're accessible for viewing by the public instead of imprisoning them on the inside. More and more the new campus looks like a fancy prison.

What he forgot to mention is that Apple built this facility so that employees like it better than their home and have more amenities there so they can work longer hours. Just sayin' - that's why companies build campuses like this.
EXACTLY! I'll take my fancy large cubicle any day so I can leave around 5. I refuse to shower/eat dinner/live at my job.

Why would you apologize for the fact you can afford buying more trees than others, who would complain regardless.

Your campus doesn't even have trees, you're killing our view and devalue our property.
Oh, you have too many trees, you supported the local economy instead of importing trees cheapy elsewhere.

Just get lost, stop whining, your property went up by 40% just because of the campus, and you still find a reason to complain.

Did he do the interview in person, or just send a video? The guy is just been "phoning it in" the past several years, with no real innovation. It's painfully clear now Steve was the real design leader, not Ive.

IMO this building looks drab and dingy on the inside. No character and harsh.

What even is the motif supposed to be? Because all I see are clean lines and smooth surfaces and rows and rows of desks. Most Apple Stores have more character than this place does.

If they really wanted to do this right, they should have uprooted to somewhere more cultured and full of character, like NYC/Manhattan or Chicago.

Glad I don't have to work in that environment for sure!

How do you rob the earth of trees? The worst scenario is that people transplant trees from one place to another. And if you planned years in advance with your supplier they can plant seeds to make sure the supply remains more or less constant.

I consulted for Weyerhaeuser years ago, and they plant two new trees for every tree they harvest to make paper or wood products, so I could see Apple making sure that they didn't impact the supply of trees.
