Same! I found my way with a map but happily use gps now. As for Visual Intelligence, I’d much rather walk up to a restaurant and check out their menu. Maybe it’s useful for other things but I haven’t really tried it much.
I live tech. But it has to be a clear improvement.

What I'd love to know is who are these adults who constantly need some device to remind them to keep motivated? is there a whole generation of people out there with learned helplessness who constantly need devices and people surrounding them to make sure that they're doing what past generations would call living? I really do hope that this all crashes and burns then takes down all the other dopey crap that has been pushed out by Silicon Valley such as those 'health rings' and AR/VR headsets, the fixation regarding AI which is pushing up the price of everything etc.

Kinda hope they eventually release a walking pad. Could be a good device to tie in some ai smarts to track health and fitness goals. And or maybe something like apple health / Google fit etc to tie into it all.

Jony would have done better just taking his riches into a quiet retirement.
So we were promised a “cabin in the woods” but now it turns out it’s going to be a “motivational” speaker. I’m sticking with my previous prediction that this will be more like Matt Foley in a “van down by the river.

I think there are simple, mundane uses for cameras. For example, I have a simple motion detector on my living room lights. You get used to having lighting follow you around the house. But the motion detector is stupid. It does not know why someone walked into the living room; it is because they want to stay there or maybe just passing through on the way to the kitchen? And also, who is it? I like to have the light brighter than does my wife. And then what is the person doing? We like the light about medium brightness, about maybe 3,500K color, except if we are cleaning or doing other work, then more light at about 6,000 Kelvin is better.
To optimally control lights, the controller needs to know who is in it, where they are going, and what they will do. I can say the same about heat and A/C.
A camera can also see the front porch and notice if a package is delivered. A good AI can know who ordered the package and send the notice to the best person to fetch it based on who is home and so on.
And the last exampe. I want to ask the AI that lives in my house "What did I put my car keys?" It needs a camera for that too.
I will stick with my Echo units, no cameras in the for a start and at the moment, no Alexa+, so fine for me. I don't need or want this A.I rubbish. Standard Alexa is as far into A.I as I want to go

Amazing, maybe it could remind me to wipe after I’ve been potty or give me a nudge to brush my teeth in the morning.

I really get the feeling that Ive was stagnating at Apple without Jobs to really challenge him. Now Ive has moved on and I’m yet to see any substance with this whole project. Sure the Ferrari interior is impressive but I suspect there were some top minds at Ferrari that had some strong views that helped.
A speaker with a camera is hardly revolutionary, besides I don’t really want a camera like that in my house. Especially as I doubt OpenAI has a privacy focus even close to Apple. This is a hard pass from me

I would never buy anything I cannot see first so asking a speaker to buy something for me is a non starter. I also don't want to be watched 24/7. Nor do I need to be told when to go to bed.
The desperation around AI is sad.

"Brilliant. AI can shout 'Put the bins out Friday!' every time you walk past. It will watch you 24/7 so it doesn't miss you walking past and will phone the council if you forget - we can sell it for $999."
