Geez, why all the hate on the thread? Because he left your beloved Apple?
More like because he didn’t leave soon enough after his babysitter sadly passed away.

Because everyone on this thread knows better, is more creative and is wildly more successful at running international design agencies than this Ive joker.
Ha! Though there are many on this thread who are much more successful than JIve at recognizing what works better for them in real world usage, far and away from the laboratory and studio environment.

Came here to read the experts opinions in the comments, was not disappointed.
Ive should take some creative tips from people on here, if he listens I am sure he'll go far!
I don’t think anyone would suggest the guy’s creativity is second to none. Lots of people complain about questionable choices like keyboards that easily break and cost 700$ to repair or mice that have to be charged upside down.

Somehow apple managed to reach a wonderful ballance between design and functionality while Jobs was around and had the final word. Now, maybe Ive is responsible, maybe not, we’ll never know, but with his departure apple is allegedly backtracking on things like removing ports from the macbooks, and have already ditched the butterfly keyboard.

Exactly. Folk like @Deliro, @Eightarmedpet, and others can watch next week’s unveiling of the latest MacBooks and start counting the various backtracks away from the minimalist-first form-first “features” from under Jony’s recent leadershi**iness:

-Ports embargo fix (tbd)
-Butterfly keyboard fix*
-T-shaped arrow keys, destroying Jony’s beloved symmetrical keyboard layout*
-Tactile, discrete function keys/buttons (TouchBar, tbd)*
-Return of the discrete esc key*
-Return of the funation-first MagSafe, destroying the lovely port symmetry. (tbd?)
-Let’s see what else

*yes I realize these were introduced/fixed a few years ago, but they remain an undoing of the butterfly keyboard fiasco and clumsy non T-shaped arrow key layout, etc.

I’ll caveat that the TouchBar had its benefits, but at the cost of removal of physical function keys that many including myself prefer, especially the esc key. Too often Apple gives radical new feature “X” by taking away steadfast feature “Y,” where Y has become a standard and should not have been tinkered with.

Because the website kinda sucks. It serves no function whatsoever. It does not even provide a phone number, email or address for the company so they can be contacted. It is literally a fancy font, some pretentious copy and an animated comma.

Just avoid holding it in that way.

I'm inclined to agree, I personally dont think Ive is as amazing as he thinks he is, but the critique of his website and company on here is hilarious. He doesnt need a website, he is Sir Jonny Ive, Designer of some of the most iconic products in the last 20 years, what do folks expect? A contact form to drum up some business?

TBF jobs made a few form over function bad decisions too - the finless G4 iMac, the G4 cube, and prob others.
I also look forward to a few design decisions being reverted - everything @Tozovac lists would be improvements.

No one is saying the guy isn't massively talented. We (or at least I) am just saying that his website is a pretentious bag of nothing that shows that the only thing larger than Ive's talent is his ego.

This team probably walks around sniffing each other's #2s and complimenting each other on how nicely they folded the TP.

They spent 2 years on adjusting a pre-existing font?

At least it explains why they used this gimmicky typewriter effect that was cool 2 years ago.

Ive worked at Apple. This design agency he has setup has no track record. Why would I use them instead of a more recognisable company that has a proven track record?
