Ugh. I got out of a cab the other night, not realizing my iPad was on my lap instead of in my bag. I had the Joy case on it. It fell out of my lap onto the street. I thought it skidded at first, but when I got home, closer inspection revealed 2 nasty dings on the bottom corner, in a spot that was ostensibly protected by the case.

Certainly, other cases would have protected it even less, but given the fact that the corners are fairly well covered by this case, my faith in the Joy in terms of protection is now pretty much non existent.

I guess your iPad is certainly defective now afterall... you should have cried about durability instead of display.

I've heard a lot of negatives about the smartsuit3, people saying that it doesn't fold back flat and the magnets don't hold very well. I just ordered the connect the dots case and should have it in a few days. Has anyone else got it? I'm just hoping this one is better!

I have got the Khaki Connect-the-Dots case.
I love it, besause it looks and feels nice, works good as stand and a lot of other good things. (my opinion...)
The magnets on the back are not super strong, but strong enough in my opinion.
And it doesn't fold flat, but that doesn't bother me.
So I think it is a very good case!

I'm flattered you'd venture all the way out of the iPad forum to stalk me and yet again add your special brand of insipid commentary. Wait, did I say flattered? I meant creeped out. It must be a rich fulfilling life you lead.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like a really nice case, I'm looking forward to getting it. It would've been nice if it did fold flat though, but it shouldn't really be a problem. I ordered the black one.

Someone on this thread mentioned that the material of the joyful wish case felt very cheap and wasn't very good, and I assumed that it was the same material as the connect the dots case. Turns out its not though.

Can you guys elaborate so basically if I have the case open and folded back it wouldn't be able to lay/sit on my lap as the back doesn't lie straight? It doesn't fold back and lay flat down on a surface e.g a table? I'm starting to have some regrets now

I don't know about the material of the Joyful Wish case.

No they're not the same. Here's the link to the review:

You can also tell if you look closely at the pictures on the joy factory website.

I'm not quite sure as I've not got it yet. I'll let you know the details as soon as I've got it, which could be as soon as this Friday.

Which case have you ordered?

Mine is laid flat right now so I don't know what they're referring to  I have silver Smartsuit 3.

I just purchase my first iPad (new) and so far I love it. After reading the reviews I ordered a black Joy smart suite 3 case from Amazon. I've heard comments that the new iPad can run a bit hot. I'm just curious do you think having a full body case could negatively effect the iPad's self cooling ability?

This case was NOT as I expected maybe it's isolated to a few of us only but I've got the same problem as the poster above my front cover when folded back in book mode does not stay fully flat like I would like. I mean if I'm holding it very firmly with 2 hands it does stay down but if holding with one hand it somewhat slides down off the magnet slightly, and the bottom section kind of bulges out if not squeezed with a firm grip. I am getting a RMA on Monday and sending it back. If it were 30-40 or 50ish I would probably keep it but for nearly 70 bucks it shouldn't do that.

Yes, that is what I was talking about when saying that I'd doesn't fold back flat. It doesn't really bother me much as I hardly use my iPad in portrait but they could have easily avoided this problem. All it needs is a larger hinge so it folds over better. I'm not sure what you mean when you say it slides down off the magnet but i don't think I have that problem.

I guess it could but the good thing for me has been that I don't feel the heat so much when holding my iPad 3 in the case and mine does get rather warm which was an annoyance for me. But yeah, I've wondered about that. I got the Apple Care + for this very reason. Also, I think if they start having battery life issues with the new warmer-running iPad, those problems will affect most everyone and Apple will have to address/rectify them so I'm not going to spend time worrying about it!

Exactly yea could have been avoided with a bigger latch, maybe itll stretch out over time who knows. Im leaning towards the Bridgeway though.

If anyone wants pictures of the case just let me know.

I would really appreciate seeing photos, as well as your impression of the case now that you've had it a few days. I love the look of the Vintage Blue, but am concerned about how far back it folds for book mode, the cover closing and staying closed. With so many returning it, I've pretty much dropped it from the list, but...

Thank you! :)

I really like the Smart Suit. My local Micro Center had both it and the Dots one. I did not care for the Dots version at all. I used the Smart Suit case for almost 30 days in black and it performed very well in my travels and work use. Ultimately though it began to tear just slightly at the joints for the smart cover and the back casing. I was inside the 30 days to Micro Center so I took it back. I ended up with an Incipio Feather and leather Smart cover I purchased off the bay for less than the Smart Suit.

I'll try and upload the photos today. It's perfectly fine folded back in book mode and the magnets that stop it from flapping are really useful.

The thing about it folding back flat is really not an issue at all, and the majority of cases will have that problem too, so I wouldn't let that put you off.

I have the case in black. The material feels really good and the case overall looks great. To be honest, I don't think you will find anything better. I had been looking for a case for ages and eventually settled on this one (joy factory connect the dots) which is near perfect for me.

sorry, I forgot to put the photos up earlier. Here they are now though. A couple of the pictures are showing how it doesn't fold back flat. the case actually looks a lot better in reality than in the photos.

Thank you so much for this, it is really helpful. It folds flatter than I expected based on some of the comments.

Again, thank you! :)

Also, when you're holding it you don't notice it. The magnets that keep it stuck to the back are really useful; there aren't many cases that have this feature. That's one of the reasons I went for it.

I agree with you totally, about this being the perfect case. I have the SmartSuite 3 in black, and am very happy with it. Why anyone would need the cover folded flatter than what is depicted in your pictures, is beyond me, considering the many other great features of this case.

Well, no one "needs" a case at all or "needs" to have dessert or "needs" a Rolls instead of a Mercedes. :)

Point is you pay premium (overpriced IMO) price (~$70) for an item where there are dozens of other ones out there for $15-$30 that don't have this issue so obviously it was carelessness in the manufacturing process. Be it a case or a car or an iPad itself, the "fit and finish" should be as close to perfect as possible and the more expensive it gets the more care one would expect should go into it's manufacturing. Had it been $15 or $20 I wouldn't really have cared based on "it's cheap, what can I expect."

My reason was that it looks silly with a hump on the top. It looks like there is something wrong with it and it shouldn't for $70+. That plus the fact the magnet didn't stick that great when folded back were my reasons. I found another case with a back magnet 2x as strong and that was perfectly flat when opened or closed for half the price which proved to me that with a little effort in the manufacturing process this truly could have been MY perfect case.

Would you have accepted your iPad if when you opened the box the front glass was slightly protruding from the frame on one corner or the back had a mar under the surface ?
