She may be trying to motivate everyone to settle the case![]()
Nope. Doesn’t matter if they breached if the contract is invalid as a matter of public policy, for example. If that’s true, doesn’t that throw out they’re entire case?
Thank you, I was wondering why the judge was pushing it. This makes sense. Any other insights? how do you think it will go (seriously)?
Because console market is not a general-purpose market and console is sold with a very cheap price and counting on the cut from sold games. This is not the model on general purpose market.I could be wrong but I thought I had read somewhere that Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo also ask for 30 percent for similar transactions. If so why is this even an issue.
Consoles aren’t that cheap. And Apple argues that it’s phones are not any more general purpose than consoles. They are information appliances. So far the judge isn’t buying this distinction, end she will be the one who decides what the relevant market is.Because console market is not a general-purpose market and console is sold with a very cheap price and counting on the cut from sold games. I'm teaching my kid with python. I wish I can have a native python ide on ipad. And I also like to play MAME with all open roms on my phone. No way!All I want from this is a switch in iOS that allows me to install apps from sources other than the app store at my own risk. This shouldn't be too much of a problem. The ‘geniuses’ in the Apple Stores are already well-versed in blaming OS malfunctions and battery drain on third party apps. Surely they can extend their diagnoses to apps that come from outside sources...
The problem is that IS too much of a problem. If Apple allows this then there will be a crapstorm of people complaining that their iPhone isn't working properly and try and blame Apple when it's really the 3rd party unsupported application that is causing the issue. And without a doubt (especially from this forum 🙄) not a single customer will accept any blame or responsibility and expect Apple to give them a new phone, and if Apple does not these same people will come shouting on social media that Apple screwed them over......when it was really the customer's fault in the first place. All I want from this is a switch in iOS that allows me to install apps from sources other than the app store at my own risk. LMAO if you truly think THAT many people who are gamers game on their phones enough for Apple to lose customers then you're definitely the wrong customer for Apple. If gaming was going to lose Apple business the Mac would've been long gone years ago and only a memory. Get real!Apple doesn't realize that they're just driving customers that play Fortnite away to gaming PC, Android, etc.

Maybe it end very fast also, as Epic created their own situation. They needed more time to get and review evidence. This is a very fast timeline for a federal case.
$500 for a PS5 is a very cheap prices? New iPhones can be had for roughly the same price.Because console market is not a general-purpose market and console is sold with a very cheap price and counting on the cut from sold games. This is not the model on general purpose market.
You read that from Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic.Cool, and I read somewhere that this is an entirely different situation because gaming consoles are a different business model and the hardware is heavily subsidized by the companies with the prospect of future games sales...
The Mac is a general purpose computer, while a smart phone is not? People expect to be able to load whatever they want on their computer, while anyone who has purchased an iPhone knows that they can only get apps from the app store. They also know they can go to Android if they want to side load programs.Really? How do they manage to avoid this with the mac?
Really hope apple is put in their place. It's time they stupid with the monopoly behavior.
Oh , so its even worse then no ? MS compensate their low margin HW via game developers ? why cant MS take the hit ? why would the game developer need to pay extra for that low margin ?Cool, and I read somewhere that this is an entirely different situation because gaming consoles are a different business model and the hardware is heavily subsidized by the companies with the prospect of future games sales...

Totally! Either way an interesting precedent will be established in the world of online transactions.I am very interested in the outcome of all of this
I'd rather it be a whole other build of iOS for those that wish to do so. Keep my iOS tidy please. All I want from this is a switch in iOS that allows me to install apps from sources other than the app store at my own risk. This shouldn't be too much of a problem.
