If there's another app store or a way to install apps outside of Apple's app store, it doesn't mean you have to get the app through them. Don't feel comfortable getting an app from the developer or another app store? Then get it directly from Apple.

Clearly you don't like having options and competition.

Why would every app be on the App Store?

Epic wants to have their own application store. If you look on the Android side, hundreds if not thousands of application store exists. And not all apps are on Google's store.

Having a lot of options are not great. I want one place to do everything.

Go Epic! Thanks for fighting the fight, for the fairness and dignity of all developers big and small, and for an OS that allows installing everything we want, as it should be.
If you want an OS that allows you to install everything you want you can
1. Use Android
2. Make your own

Stop trying to force your flawed system on those of us who prefer the alternative. It’s like demanding automakers stop selling automatic transmission and only sell manual.

So should iOS be forced to open up and be like every other platform?

Or should they be allowed to do their own thing?

iOS should be open. My iPad Pro is a complete joke because of iOS basically. If it was running OS X, then it would have been a great device.

The only reason the M1 Macs exist is because of how much Apple is holding back the iPad Pro with iOS.

Perhaps you should build one of your own and do what you want, or even better, don't give the money/business to Apple but to some other company that suits your "needs"
But we know you won't.

An exercise in futility. Apple will emulsify Epic. Then let them back after publicly flogging them for 6m. Epic will have a new CEO after this folly. ;)

But ultimately this is all being played out under the watchful eye of regulators who are already investigating Apples App Store monopoly.

That is the threat to Apple not this suit. This just adds more fuel to the fire of the antitrust cases.

They are owned by monopoly Tencent who censors in China.

Apple do that too?

Apple isn’t a monopoly in any sector. They sell less iOS devices than Android devices and less macOS devices than Windows devices.

The App Store doesn’t censor anyone. Apps that have been banned were involved with racist movements or trying to break rules to get your data or break your privacy.

In fact, Apple should be removing many apps that cause harm and they haven’t because those apps have big VCs behind them.

Go to FortniteRumors.com with that opinion. EPIC is lucky to even have the option to sell their game on the App Store. Apple can do what they want, they are a private company. They can ban Parler, they can charge 80% commission for all I care. Nobody makes EPIC sell an app. Follow the rules or get lost.

Not that I'm not on your side here, but Apple isn't a private company. Valve is, defintely not Apple.

Its interesting. Epic stopped updating their Mac version of Fortnite - which was installed by installing Epic's game store installer from their website (not Apple's App Store). If you launch the game Epic literally lies to the user and says Apple won't allow them to update it (which is totally untrue) - since it's not an Mac App store App, its a direct installer from them.

I wonder if Apple can bring the fact Epid has purposely crippled the Mac version up in the trial.

They meant "private" as in "not owned by or directly connected to the government" rather than "doesn't have publicly traded stock"

And a finding for apple could blow the wind out of the sails of the other “investigations”.

TikTok sends data back to China by copying your clipboard info and many other apps track your every move (Facebook) to sell to advertisers. So malware is already rampant on iOS.
Thats more of a negative reflection on your use of TikTok and Facebook. Many of us do not, and have never used those app's.

Many folks have understood that "free" app's need to make their money somehow, and if you use them, you should understand that your personal data and usage information is the vendor's source of revenue. Nothing is free, as money has to be made somewhere in the process. As long as you keep that in mind when selecting the app's and services you choose to use, you should not be surprised or disappointed.....

Well, if iOS is forced to open up, it will be a precedent for other platforms involving transactions, especially game consoles. It can also be argued to the app level. Let’s say I want to buy an in-app purchase. Then I should be allowed to buy it outside the developer’s confines with whoever I want to. The developer should allow other people to sell their in-app items without their involvements. The developer shouldn’t hoard all the money for themselves, right?
If we go up to the next level: a win for Epic would mean there cannot be any exclusives. Period. Epic is IMHO too greedy and stupid to realize this could bite them in the butt.

Totally untrue. While the M1 shares code it is not the same as the A series.
