Reuters reports that the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has issued a decision in the patent dispute between Apple and Nokia, ruling that Apple has not violated any of five patents cited by Nokia in its lawsuit.
Apple Inc (AAPL.O) won a round in its patent battle with Nokia (NOK1V.HE) on Friday as a U.S. trade panel ruled that the U.S. company did not violate any of five Nokia patents.

The patents were for electronic devices, including mobile phones, portable music players and computers.
Nokia initially filed suit against Apple in October 2009, and the two companies have escalated the situation by filing countersuits and new suits citing an increasing number of patents and in a number of jurisdictions. Most recently, Nokia filed four new suits targeting Apple in European courts.

ITC staff have already issued a preliminary position siding with Nokia regarding Apple's countersuit claiming patent infringement, but an agency judge has yet to issue an official ruling on that case.

This wasn't going to end any other way.

A US International trade commission - that's an oxymoron - would never rule any other way.

It's funny how US bodies generally agree with all US companies.

I don't understand all this hate against Nokia. They are a decent company making some good solid phones. Perhaps their smartphones as nor in par with the iphone or the droids but they are certainly trying.

To be honest I don't think there is anyone here naive enough to think that apple have not ripped some of their ideas... But should this be actionable? Perhaps it would be better for them to sit down and work things out...

...or maybe i'm the one being naive:rolleyes:

Trying means nothing. They never emerged from 2004 and are failing. They then chose to partner with another visionless under-performer, unless of course MS wants to turn their new Nokia WP7 phone into a gaming console with virtually no relationship to their other products.

The last paragraph says:

The score so far is 1-1 -- stalemate.

Agreed but likewise, the EU always rules against all US companies. Any bets on how the EU ITC will rule on the next 4 Nokia vs Apple complaints ?

Nokia still exists??? With all those wonderful products they have, one would think they are making a killing in earnings. Oh wait, thats why thery are suing Apple.
More than a hint of sarcasm here folks :)

Yes, maybe you are the one being naive. Knowing nothing about the lawsuit you feel comfortable stating opinions based on...what?

It seems a judge (who actually reviewed all the data relevant to the complaint) decided that Nokia didn't have a case.

But hey, why should anyone give credence to those who have actually reviewed the relevant material? Your silly little "gut feeling" that Apple must have "ripped off" Nokia is of infinitely more value than the pesky little facts of the case and the decision reached by those who are actually qualified to make such decisions.

Why did you even bother posting? You are not in a position to even state an intelligent opinion, knowing nothing about the details involved.

He/she is in the exact same position as you, and has every right to post on their opinion on this thread. There is no need to call somebody an idiot just because they hold a different opinion as you.
