For me, this is what is so infuriating: had it been clearer what models were going to be uber-backordered sooner (even say, by the 15th or so), I would have abandoned ship on the SG and gone for something else. [...]

It's certainly frustrating, but there are only so many things you or Apple can do in this situation. And while I am right there with you (ordered on 10th morning, won't be here until late-May), all I can do is sit and wait patiently :D It's only been like three business days... but so far I've gotten some good news.

It's a little unfair to think they can respond in ways that prevents burns of a few single persons out of millions, just as it is unfair to say, "They should have waited until..." when they've shipped out 300k+ orders in a half week. Should those hundreds of thousands of people waited until Apple could have filled you order? If not, should they have waited until they could fill all 1.x million of them on "launch day" without having an estimate on the amount of purchases they would get? Would I make the cut since I ordered on preorder day just after gate opening or have to wait until they could fill them all, including those who waited to try on? The possibilities get crazy if you dive too deep and while I still happily regard Cook as an operational expert, there are limits to him and Apple the reactions from every decision.

Plus, I'd much rather see as many get into as many peoples' hands as soon as possible because then I can see how the orders are being fulfilled and if I can expect mine early (earlier, since i got one email telling me my June date was being pushed forward).

But I'm here waiting with you, man. We're all in this together... at least until I get my watch :p

I'd guess those are still probably orders that were placed in the first few minutes. I'm many hours behind them in line.

I ordered mine (42mm White Sport) at 9:30 pm ET on the 10th. Moved from June to 5/14-5/20 yesterday, shipped today for delivery tomorrow. Likely you'll get it the first 2-3 weeks of May, but I'm almost positive it will come by the end of may (as I stated above).

Anyone had movement on a 42 SS with the Milanese Loop band? I ordered mine 4/11 at 8pm (Georgia) and haven't had any updates.

thanks.

New to the party here.

I've been waiting to order mine because I really wanted to try it on, and finally had the time yesterday to get to a store and have a session.

The Apple rep asked me if he could help me pre-order mine since they are backordered and I politely declined.

4 hours later, I couldn't stand the waiting anymore and ordered my SG 42mm Black Sport.

I think they can make an awful lot of watches by June...so im very optimistic that its going to be here before that "June" date.

My boss showed me his white 42mm SB this morning. It's been on my mind ever since, but I don't see myself liking the white band too long nor it staying clean.

One of the news I had read earlier was by June the rest of the world can pre-order their watch. I will be extremely upset if they receive theirs before mine. And another thing, why wasn't it available in there stores, only to a select ones. I mean, what were they thinking?
Why not sell it in there stores and not to a select ones?
Oh well, atleast theres a fight this May 2 to get my mind out of it.

Too many different configurations to stock in the store and then determine how many of each to stock. My assumption and I could be wrong.

Ordered mine a week ago.Watch sport 42mm with blue band.Yesterday changed from June to ships 5/14-5/20.Do you think that it will come sooner that 5/14-5/20?Saw some other with the same and changed to preparing for shipment.
wish you all to have the watch as fast as possible

Thank you

I'm between the 2 of you - on the 12th. I'll update if I get an email, Randal. :)

I second that. In the past, when my items go to preparing they ship either that day or the next day. Hopefully this will be the same. I'll let you guys know when I hear.

It just updated and shipped!!! I can't wait for it to come in!

EDIT:

Just got this text: "Apple Store: Good news! Items in order WXXXXXXXXX have shipped and will deliver by Apr 29, 2015. For more info:..."

Apparently they're going by overnight shipping now? I don't mind it's just always been ground for me.

Well thanks for keeping me (and the rest of us) updated! Much appreciated!

And congrats on the shipping so fast! It doesn't surprise me at all if they're switching to overnight because of the delay in deliveries. But this is even more confirmation that I'll probably still get my watch earlier than the new May 14-20 window. I would bet I get it by Friday, or early next week.

As far as all these comments about how they're ordering deliveries and it taking too long, just calm down! I'm just as anxious as the next person to get my watch! I'm terrible at delaying instant gratification! But I'm sitting patiently because I know the watch I want is on its way and it will get here when it gets here. I've lived without an Apple Watch for this long, I can wait a few more weeks. The anticipation is killer, yes, but think of it as a learning opportunity. Build some character here, people!

As long as you didn't get the Space Gray Sports model.. Your good. It could definitely be sooner than 5/14-20. I ordered the Space Gray 42mm on 25th & I'm still stuck on the June date, yet my other 38mm Space Gray that I ordered the same day has moved up to 5/21-6/4 from the previous June shipment.

Just FYI - Happy story:

Wife did the in-store try on and ordered a silver 38mm white sport on 24th with June shipping.

And she was fine with that - it was the exact model she wanted and in the right timeframe (too much going on at work right now to consider learning a new toy)

Anyway, shipping moved to Late May-Early June a few days ago.
Moved to Late May yesterday.
Shipped a few hours ago. Delivery tomorrow (29th)

WTF Apple? Are there that many cancellations?

Classic tale of Apple's desire to under-promise and over-deliver. Came sooner than expected and now you're happy, right?!

From what I've seen they've been tending to ship on the earlier side of the timeframes, so I would bet you should be good. But this launch has been completely different, so who knows?

I understand that, but going from "Sometime in June" to "Tomorrow" sounds like they were either sandbagging (which may have worked against them) or they simply have no idea what they're doing. Another explanation is that they've had a TON of recent cancellations. It's all very odd.

Hey; happy wife, happy life! No complaints from me. :)

It sounds to me like the website is still set to default all estimates to June at the time of order, and then they send updates as they become available. So they probably just need to reset the estimates on their website to be more accurate. But it would make sense why they wouldn't do that until they're past this initial order phase. What if they suddenly get another flood of orders or something get in the way of manufacturing and causes delays? Then they would be backordered to June again. It all sounds like they're just covering their ass in case anything happens.

I just want my watch!!!!!!! Ok, I got it out, thank you for your time....

i have a bad feeling our june shipment watches will ship out june 27-30 and arrive july 2-7 :-\

especially since the 42MM SS silver link watches take about 9 hours to assemble

its gonna be a long spring!!!!
