Taking Lives was the only movie she was in that I didn't feel was created completely for children. The Tomb Raider series she was in was mildly entertaining but was obviously more hollywood hype than actual content.

:)

You're alright efoto.

Haha, thanks. That is probably the nicest vague statement anyone has made about me on these forums to date, I almost blushed there for a second....but didn't so don't worry ;)

Something just occured to me about all of these "Month Desktops" threads. When we hit June of 2006 and someone posts the "June Desktops" thread again, is everything kosher or will we have spontanious system overload?

The true question being, does MR allow having a post of exactly the same title more than once? or in the future will we have to amend the month with the little '06 and henceforth refer to these threads by year?

I'm new to the mac, but here's my Mac mini desktop:

I guess we will find out in August won't we?

not really - you could have 100 threads with the same title, its not the identifier of the thread - its the unique thread number that gets you there. So you could do more than one, but that's when the mods would come in and merge them or close the second....

That makes a lot of sense.

Wow, only 1.4GB free? What do you have stored?

Yeah, I was also wondering that. It's not good to run them that low on space, is it? It seems like I remember someone saying not to go below 10% of disk space.

Oh it is SOOOOOOOOO easy to get your HDD full....I also have an 80GB HDD and I have only 500MB free...

And that is after a good clean ;)

Mine is a pic that has been around the net a few times but I still love it.
Care to share that one? I haven't finished reading through the thread, so I may stumble upon it. I've been looking for a copy if it for a while, though.

Thanks.

Threads are marked uniquely by an automatically generated integer index.

This thread, for example, is thread # 129506, as indicated in the "t=129506" portion of its URL:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/129506/

Knowing that, I'd bet good money that the software doesn't give a damn what the title of the thread is. I'd have to dig through the PHP source to verify it, but I'd still bet good money. :)

So would you merge the '04 August Desktops with the coming '05 August Desktops? Personally I would like to see them seperate but if its easier and the mods prefer to combine them, I guess there is no problem with that.

For the monthly desktop threads however, if you do prefer they are the same you should let everyone know because someone will undoubtedly start a new one which creates more work for you :(

That's, not good, both you and keymoo needs to clear out some more space. Mac OS X typically needs 4-5 GB for virtual memory and temp files on the boot disk. Any less than that and you get VERY reduced performance and may even crash the machine (or cause it to hang indefinitely).

I know it's a struggle, I have a 60 GB HD and a 36 GB iTunes library. Holding 5-6 GB free HD space is really hard... ;)

I know.......need another HDD.....Windows actually seems to cope with it OK except large PS files :p

Good, good... other HD aren't a problem (although it's not good to fill them completely, either), that's why I specified that I was talking about the boot disk, and with 500MB left you're in for trouble. ;) And from keymoo's screen shot above it definitively seems like he's way overdue for a spring cleaning, too...

I would/will be loading over files to the other HDD so the Boot-disk will have space to play. ;)

Now: any other nice desktops

That's why I'm sending it back to get an iMac G5 20". Nothing much, just photos, music and my documents. I do take a lot of photos with my Canon EOS 10D. Half of my stuff is still on my Windows machine waiting to be transferred - I'll do that when the G5 turns up sometime next week. :D

I'll post my new iMac desktop too.

Yeah. You can take a performance hit if the system isn't able to allocate information to virtual memory.

Also, how did you get that powerbook icon on your desktop? Would love to do the same

one last question, did you see michael schumi in the GP of Canada today?
