He got kind of scare because he thought he broke the screen completely.

He was aware of the crack and didn't offer to fix it?

This is a tough one. If he didn't know about it, I would say mention it to him and give him the opportunity to make it right. But since he knew it was cracked, bringing it up is going to create some tension. It just depends on how much the $110 is worth to to you.

Being "the boss" at work, if I broke one of my employee's phones, the first thing I'd do is offer to replace it.

What would you do if your boss drops your iPhone 6 that you just got not even a month ago? And cracked the screen on the bottom. Is not really noticeable but I know that the small cracked is there.

Eat the cost. Learning lesson for you, don't let people handle your expensive phone to anyone else. I sure as hell don't let anyone touches my iPhone, not only this prevents potential damage, I don't have other people's germs on my phone, and it also eliminated picture swiper risk.

I feel for the OP, but I agree with the above. It's best to not let someone else handle your phone. I'm not giving the OP a hard time, but it's a reminder for all of us.

Oh yes he was aware of it. When he get back Monday I'll break the news down to him.

Any update?

No he is gone until Monday..

My tech gear is never shared period. I've got too much time invested in setups that are to my liking. Too much risk involved. I find its very simple to say no... And that's a respected response. :)

I can't even hold mine without the case. But, have arthritis. I am in different situation being retired from one career and me and wife drawing SS. So, I probably would have looked at him and said "well that is going to cost you" with a half grin. And go from there.

Hope it works out though--:)

Did you purchase it using a credit card that offers 90-day accidental damage protection? If so, file a claim.

Unless it's a single hairline crack (with no impact point indicating that it's been dropped), in which case they'll replace it free of charge under warranty.

I think the type of people who don't feel the need to pay you back when they owe you something are just scumbags. I can't really understand how some people can live their lives this way. If I owe someone anything, whether it's money or having to pay for damages I caused to something they own, I am going to take responsibility every time.

No it's a knockoff the apple store buys in bulk on eBay.

Come from the same factory :p

So, for a $110, is it worth it. You know you boss better than us, if he is the type to replace it and be cool fine, if this causes issues at work and you really like your job, your call

What would you do if you boss crashed you new car? Suck it up, kiss ass to keep your job? Or burn his house to the ground #?
Why did you boss have your phone, did you offer to let him handle it or did he ask to hold it? No matter let him pay to fix it.

If I dropped an employees phone and they didn't get upset I would probably lose respect for them and mentally I wouldn't lose sleep if that's who I had to fire next. I want people working for me who stand up for themselves and speak what's on their mind. On the converse if I didn't feel I could tell my boss to replace my phone or felt my job would be in jeopardy I would probably look for another place to work.

He needs to be accountable and own up to his actions. I'd mention that your phone was in fact damage and ask him to reimburse you the cost to get it fixed. Any responsible human being would step up to the plate and take care of it.

Thanks for the info. And yes it's the original screen not after market.

Your absolutely correct.

----------

Lol, I'm going to start doing the same thing and not let anyone know that I have one as well.

I want to thank everyone who place a comment on my situation. Thanks for the help friends!!

Good luck. You obviously have a lot of good karma yourself. It's too bad your boss doesn't, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Hats off to you and best wishes.

Geez. You'd be an absolute horror to work for: Bust their phone, disrespect them, fire them and then get a good nights sleep! :)

Joking aside, I get your point, but if that really happened and I was the boss, I'd be questioning if I'd made myself unapproachable.

Of course that would never happen, because I'd be ordering them a new phone online in my office.

Who knows, maybe you'll suddenly have twice your monthly income on your account some day? :p

He knows that he damaged your phone so he's either thinking about how to handle the situation or he's avoiding it.

wow!!

WOW guys after all the frustration and the going back and forth about my issue with my cracked iPhone 6. I went to the apple store to get my screen fix and to find out that my screen was not cracked. It was my glass screen protector that i had on the phone lol. I was so relief that i did not had to pay 110 for a screen. So its worth spending 35 bucks for a glass screen protector everyone.

I got my iPhone 6 right before a business trip and I was nervous the entire time having a naked expensive phone to the point of keeping it in bubble wrap in my purse, lol. As soon as I got off the plane back home, I went to the Apple Store and bought a case and screen protector. Phew, what a relief! :D
