What i also dont understand is that no one sees this from a business point of view
You've got the iPad launching in less than 2 weeks
App Store submissions going crazy over iPad applications
Apple Stores reading for it
and so on and so on
and then they'll go:
'Lets just bring out the new Macbooks on the 23rd!'
if they do that on the next few tuesdays, no one, like the casual user etc, except fanboys that are mostly on here and other forums, will notice, because of 'one of their most important products' from Steve Job's own mouth, will be launching very soon
They are focusing all their energies into the iPad until it launches.
Remember when Leopard got delayed until October? it was because of the iPhone!
So anyone actually expecting updates to anything else in the next couple weeks, have a word with yourself ;)

i agree with you to some degree. Thats why if they do update them, it won't be anything big at all. It'll just be slight performance tweaks. Nothing earth shattering. However, i think they are going to want something they can say is the newest greatest thing out when people go to the apple store to buy their ipad. Bait them in for an ipad and sell them an ipad + mbp

The macbook pro isn't a new product... I doubt it'll have an cosmetic changes so it's not a big deal. The average person if they want a macbook pro, they go buy one, plain and simple.

Us more 'techy' users who are waiting for it WILL notice the update and will buy it if needed.

The iPad and macbook pro aren't in the same league. They don't compete with each other because they're two different products for two different uses.

you know what i mean by new macbook pros though, new models, new refresh. Not totally different models
At the end of the day though, this is apple, the slightest update and you'll know about it from the blogs, news websites, and apple dont want that, they want them all to report on the iPad and its launch right now. Only after April 3rd then by all means, THEN its time to think of when the updates will come, but not now, and certainly not from a 'a box is delivered, its saying it cant be opened until the 23rd, must be apple then!' story
Lets just wait and watch the comedy unfold on Tuesday!

Chillax, girl.

I'm pretty chill but at 252 replies this thread is a perfect failure. I guess I never latched onto the idea of unknown box enters Apple or Best Buy and people go ape ****. I am sending a box to a store by FedEx to see what happens.

Jessica, you always make me laugh with your replies. I really had no idea the thread would explode like this, I was expecting maybe 30 replies. I can definitely see why people would think I am lying, however, I am not.

The only thing I can think of is that it is promotional stuff for either the ipad or the new Macbook pros...this appleguy seems to be telling the truth in all honesty...if I were him and I was lying I would have atleast faked a picture...now another thing to wonder is why they couldn't open this package til the 23rd...what I'm thinking is that it must be promotional packaging for the MacBook pros...best buy won't get the shipment on the 23rd if they debuted at the apple store...they would still put the promotional stuff out...that's just my two cents..will see what happens!

You guys are probably much better at guessing than me, but I was thinking about items that match the weigh that I gave, and it hit me. A new Apple TV. They weight 2.4 lbs+ accessories. They have been pulled from the home pages, in this scenario to stop people from buying them and getting mad. They are Apple's "Hobby" so Apple would send them early. Thoughts?

If anything, iPads would be a boost to Mac sales, no? iPads bring crowds to the store, crowds see "OMG UPDATED NEW" Macbooks at the store and whip out their credit cards...

My god, this thread is full of fail. Apple doesn't ship new products to stores that far in advance of announcement.

If the OP didn't make this all up, it's probably new marketing materials to decorate the store with.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that Apple, like any other multinational corporation, loathes free publicity. They'd probably go to any lengths to avoid it.

Quico off topic thing that I didn't want to make an unnecessary thread for. Does this YouTube annotation look pixelated to you? I switched to my 9600m graphic card and youtube videos appear very pixelated.

Again, this is not what i mean.
What im saying is, which makes sense with what else i wrote there, is that they want full attention on the iPad near to its launch, we are less than 2 weeks away from it, from 'one of the most important products' they've ever done apparantly.
So if i felt like that, i'd want everyone and everything to be working for the iPad for now.

My dad is a truck driver for Fedex and just delivered a big box to Best Buy. It was covered in a black cloth and white security tape and said do not open till March 23rd. Think it's iPads or new MacBook Pros or something less interesting.

Schnikeys. A real rumor from a MR member who didn't join in Feb 2010!

This is the light at the end of the tunnel I've been looking for.

On the other hand, now I'm going to have the damnedest time trying to get sleep tonight.

I still want it to be something interesting, but we've pretty much decided that it's almost certainly promotional material. I guess we'll find out tomorrow :). And thanks for not calling me a liar :).

I'm confused there is no way he is ever gonna know.

He doesn't work at Best Buy, and his dad has already shipped the box.

There is no way of knowing.

Yes, very pixelated. But the text is very large so you must have resized the picture using an image editor or zoom tool before uploading it? Of course it's gonna look pixelated in some way if you do that.

what do you mean there's no way to know? Either there's new Apple stuff at BB today or it was all hogwash
