i added the hehehe at the end

maybe i'll change it to AppleMayhem says the 16th...

Eventually someone will be right :). When I first posted this thread I thought I had found evidence of new MacBook Pro's but now I'm pretty sure that it is iPad promotional stuff. Oh, and the exact weight (found this out yesterday) is 612 Pounds. Speculate away :)

What are the approximate dimensions? weight by itself does no good.

But I would estimate the average MBP box weighs about 6 lbs? maybe 6.5?

so probably between 94 and 102 MBPs. Does the box look like that's how many MBPs would fit in it?

*please say no, I'm not tryin' to wait until the 23rd to get my MBP!!*

We could sit here and bicker about what's in the box for weeks, we already have, but it won't change the one simple truth. There was no box.
Point in case: If this is true, why haven't droves of bestbuy employees leaked the fact that their stores all around the country received mysterious apple boxes?
Further more, aside from apple not wanting something valuable to sit in a best buy of all places for an entire month, why would best buy allow them to use their storage rooms as apple's own personal warehouse?
It's just ridiculous.
Mods, you seem to like playing with your ability to close threads willy-nilly, why not close one that actually violates a rule? Specifically knowingly posting lies.

If there is no box, there is no March 23rd sticker. Nice...

But that is a good point. It's just that he's kept his story going so much longer than the others that I've almost begin taking it for granted that it's true.

While I can't answer any of these questions with a degree of certainty, there are some things you didn't consider(or maybe you did but this is terribly one-sided).
1. I have been here for nearly a year and have made over 1,000 posts. I didn't just make some new account and post only in this one thread. If I were caught outright-lying I would never show my face(metaphorically speaking) here again. I love this forum and plan to use it for many years.
2. What do I stand to benefit by lying? It would be one thing if I was receiving ad revenue from this thread, but I am not. I am just trying to help with a little insider-info that I was told.
3. I have attempted to verify the authenticity of this thread many times from several people (via PM) and not one has came here saying "This guy is a fake"
I really am trying to be a healthy member of these forums. It seems that I receive so much info from this site and I would like to repay some of that intellectual debt. Whenever I hear things about Apple (as in this time) the first thought that going through my mind(well maybe not the very first, but you know what I mean) is Would the people at MacRUmors Forums like to hear this?

Well I suppose we'll find out March 23rd, now won't we?

In the meantime... about those approximate dimensions...

I posted approximate dimensions a few pages back (page 4 I think). Those aren't exact, but I would say that they are pretty close. If my dad delivers them again, I'll get the exact measurement. The pictures are more likely however as my dad just has to walk by the dock to take those.

It all seems a bit strange to me. March 23 seems too late for it to be iPad promo material. If it was iPad promo material wouldn't Apple want the box opened ASAP?

It also seems like they got the box wayyyyy too early for it to be MBPs. If they already had enough MBPs to start shipping to BBY on March 1 then why would they need to wait until the 23rd to release them?

So it seems doubtful that it is either iPad promo material or MBPs... but there isn't much left it could be.

A lot of people have contacted Best Buy about when iPads would be in stock. Many of them are being told that they would not get them until the end April. Apple wouldn't want the box opened ASAP because it would be leaked sooner than it had to be. I would say that Apple (I reported that there were similar skids going there) would probably want their promo material going up a week before hand. Personally I think that promo material being opened up 1 week and 2 days ahead of launch is a perfect date. It gives Apple/Best Buy(at this point I think Best Buy only has it so when people look at Apple Stores and see the Promo Material and then they don't see it at Best Buy it could be confusing) 2 days to put it up and 1 week to advertise.

But what would be leaked by opening promo material? I could understand Apple telling them not to put it up until a certain date, but I don't think anything negative could possibly come from BBY opening the package now that the release date has been announced.

In other words, why would simple promo material have such regulations?

Because it's Apple, they don't make since. There's an element of surprise to it. Just the first surprise iPad ad garners a >325 reply thread, Apple would want to keep that secret to build momentum.
@ Quicksilver867 Yes, I said the 23rd. If any more are shipped my dad will try his hardest(he thinks I'm crazy :) ) to get photo evidence, he only has an iPhone 3g and I don't know how close he can get, but I'll send you guys whatever he sends me.

@appleguy123...

You seem a lot more credible than *cough* some of the past posters on here, who provided us with seemingly-legit info. (which it of course wasn't.) Do what you can to get some photo evidence of these boxes...it would be awesome to see what's up. And you did say it mentioned not opening till the 23rd, right?

If I remember right, this thread was started before an "Official" date to purchase/pre-order was available - leaving Apple an out if there were any discrepancies with their supply. (It would be terribly unprofessional of Apple if BB put out signs saying "Available April ___" and then not be able to deliver a week or two after the date's already been announced)

Apple has the best advertising department anywhere hands down. And they do most of it for practically free by overemphasizing hype for products. Personally, i believe the forum member, about a box. It wouldn't be unlike apple to do. However, the pallate could contain nothing of signifigence, just apple hardware that isn't being updated etc... But, the date is possibly the more important thing. Apple very well could just send a big empty 612 pound box, just to generate buzz

you guys probably already noticed

did you guys see that on amazon.com on 1999.99 MBP there is a 150 dollars discount might be nothing but could be something.

Yeah we'd really appreciate photographs if your dad is able to take some! Tell him he has 100's of fans on the internet ;)
