The problem with CL is, that there's a good chance that if the deal is unreasonably good, you are putting yourself in a dangerous situation. This is compounded by the fact that the motivating factor is greed, whereas, although there's nothing inherently wrong with greed, it can become your undoing, and often is. A perp knows this, and uses it to his advantage. If the deal goes south, you have only yourself to blame which is greatly exacerbated by the knowledge that the perp knows this, and is most likely laughing about it.
Definitely. It's easy to get so caught up in rushing for a "good deal" that people forget to take proper precautions for personal safety or the legitimacy of the product. And thats why the attitude of the OP is so disturbing. These CL scammers prey on trustworthy and naive people who believe every excuse for why they're selling products at heavy discounts. And since the OP is bragging about his deal and giving attitude to people who question it then he could have easily been victimized because he has all the traits of someone thats easy to scam.

If it is indeed a legit trade, I congratulate the OP on having snagged such a deal!

However, as with the others, we are merely concerned, not bitter or jealous. I know of a form of loansharking where a person buys (or is made to purchase) expensive electronic goods on installment plans (because these tend to have fairly high demand), then sells them for cash. The end result is easy cash up front, but you will struggle with the huge credit card bills which follow.

I wonder if this was the act of a guy desperate for cash?

Either way, assuming the ipad wasn't stolen, it likely will be none of your business, so just enjoy your new ipad. :)

yea that's why you need to pack a gun when dealing with crazy good Craigslist deals. just got a apple TV 2nd gen for like 23 bucks (I low balled the hell out of it) the guy sounded really pissed so I'm like damn gotta take my 9mm with me.

I'm a craigslist addict but ever since the story with the craigslist killer you can never be too careful.

If he is that pissed, why is he even selling in the first place? Unless he is really that despo for quick cash?

Thread Starter-

I think people are in general very weary of Craigslist. It's almost scam-central, and things that are too good to be true usually are, unfortunately.

If I saw that deal on Craigslist, I would reason that it:

-was stolen
-was an iPad 2 in a new iPad box
-was a scam in some other way.

Congrats on the deal though. Have fun with the new toy.

I bought a macbook a couple of months ago for $350 on ebay. Did not really used it much and decided to trade it in to Best Buy for a $560 Gift Card and bought my new ipad with it. So about $350 for a new ipad, I think its a decent deal. So yes the deals are out their.

seriously?!

I think at one point the OP claimed it was an iPad 2. Sucks to be him. I just bought a referb off Apple.com for cheaper, but non the less he got scammed if he thought it was the "The New iPad" when he bought it. That would explain the price if it was a 2 and the seller was saying it was the new iPad "3" just to make it sound good and if that was the case then it might be legit ie not stolen and the OP is just a dumb ass sorry but had to be said.

jeezus, why can't people be happy that one of us forum readers got a good deal???

It's as if somehow by him getting a good deal, we all lost something? Are ya mad brah? That you paid full retail? I certainly ain't. I know that there's no chance mine is stolen/fake/blah blah blah. But still, I say congrats to the man who got a great deal off CL!
