Nice! Makes me wanna get one!

i've just got to hold out until those shuffles start coming through...

*counts the seconds until someone does a disection of the 2nd Gen Nano...*

On iLounge they have already done a disection on a 2nd generation iPod nano.

Also, for everyone who is upset about the 8GB model only coming in black, you could buy 2 nanos (8GB and 4GB in the colour you want) and swap the shells, then sell or give away the the 4GB black one.

Got mine today *2gb Silver* its a stunning piece of kit ---love it---

One thing is bugging me though my old (soon to be sold) 1st gen Nano 2gb has a capacity of 1.85gb whereas the new nano 2gb only has a capacity of 1.78gb thats a whole 70mb less quite a significant amount.....

I'm glad I got the black model it is definitely my favourite from the choice:

Appleinsider has loads of pictures of the black model here.

Nope, step 1 in the instructions is "download and install iTunes from <some url>" Kind of a bold step by Apple, selling hardware with no software--although they would probably mail you a CD if needed. Well, Apple is nothing if not a little bold at times....;)

I hope it doesn't go any further than this. I'm happy about the reduced packaging (good for the planet) but it seems that design is overtaking usability. The lack of an AC adapter in the iPod video and nano boxes was appalling in my opinion. I think they could have adjusted the volume of the box to fit an adapter without adding too much material.

They should provide the software on minimum-size USB sticks or something.

The new design looks awesome. I don't know *what* they were thinking with the original Nano. That crappy scratched-up plastic just looked so wrong, I never liked it.

Right now I'm trying to justify the purchase of a 24" iMac when I already have 3 macs. I don't need a 3rd iPod... no really, I don't... (goddammit they do look pretty though...)

It annoys me when people have such an issue with the fact that Apple stopped including AC adapters with iPods. When Apple stopped including the AC adapter in iPod boxes, they reduced the price of the iPods by however much the AC adapter costs to buy seperatly, so you can buy one if you want one, but if you do not, you have saved money that you would of spent on somthing you didn't want.

Nice pics, thanks a lot! I love the green they used. It looks like lime green, which is my favorite color. The packaging is sweet, too. :D

I agree. And most people now might be getting a second or third iPod, they can just reuse the chargers and not need 3 separate ones. I think it was a smart move on Apples part.

Just checked them all out at Apple Soho and the green is easily the best color in my view.

I second that the green is really nice, would have defiantly gone for it if it was available in 2gb,

As others have stated, the full color spectrum should have been readily available in all sizes ... my first choice would be to get the 8GB, but I will be delighted with the 4GB in that mouth-watering green.

I had the green mini. I always liked the way it looked and was reluctant to part with it when the nano cam out. The white nano I have is a far superior machine but the green is endearing, white (or black) is...hohum.

I'm undecided whether to sell my old 4 gb black nano to get one. Only bad thing is I think that the armband and case won't fit the new one :(

Well, I got mine today (after an ultrafast shipping) and I just wanted to chime in to say that I'm amazed. This thing is beautiful!

I don't need it and I still love my white nano but I got a silver 2GB and it's really really sexy!
The black one looks awesome as well, but kinda pricey for me as I really didn't need another iPod!

The only weird thing, apart from not getting a CD, is that when I plugged it in it said I needed to update the software... a 20MB update, nontheless. I mean, I can cope with not getting any software at all in the package but you would assume that a product released 3 days ago would at least sport the appropriate software on it (and the only piece of supported software, as far as I know). I found it pretty weird.

Oh yeah, mine did that too. I agree, you would think it would have had the latest. But, oh well. :)

Does the original nano dock work with the 2G nano? If I eventually upgrade, I'd rather not pay an extra $30 on the same item.

hmm it may look cool, but in the end it is still an unreliable MP3 flash card player that ties you to 1 computer.

I just hope you never try to charge it with a PC - It is just the worst experience ever. Although Apple would never admit to their failings!

You're not tied to one computer. Set it to "manually manage songs and playlists" and you can go from computer to computer with ease. You lose Auto-sync but that's no big deal. You just drag songs and playlists to it in the source list and select songs then hit delete to get rid of them.

Stop trolling and ask questions. Just because you can't figure it out doesn't mean there isn't an answer.

Its got nothing to do with "not figuring it out" - please dont make such nieve assumptions.

Having to lose function is a problem, and one the manufactures should have thought of. Also I dont have to ask questions, a forum is not restricted to that, I was responding to a comment, and posting my own utter frustration with this stupid, overpriced MP3 player
