If it's a real ATI Mac X800 and not a flashed card, that adds about $120 to the value. That G5 is the slowest one made, but still a G5. $50 may be a bit cheap for it and the maximum would be $150.

I don't think so.

No, that's going the wrong way.

Yeah it's the real mac x800. Thanks for the info...I'll never get rid of the beast because I'm so happy with it. I know 1.6 is the slowest but it has done everything I've wanted it to so far with no hesitation. Thanks all for all of your replys.....you guys are awesome.

No problem, glad you're enjoying it! I guess another thing with the G5 it's nice not to feel like it's obsolete after 8 months if that makes sense.

Looks like I'm going to have to find a 23" Cinema Display somewhere :p:apple:

I'm waiting for my camera to charge than I will get some pictures up of it. It looks brand new, only cosmetic flaws are on the top they engraved KU and Fine Arts on it. I'm a big KU fan though so it's kinda cool having one of there computers haha :D:apple::D

Can't wait to see your G5 :) :) :apple:

23" Cinema display on a powermac G5...

I love my G5 but soon I will be moving on to a new iMac. I've just built a new desk for it and for the time being the tower is living under the desk, something I hate doing but hand no choice as the desk is not made to accommodate a full size tower.

In the mean time my G5 might need a new LCD, I'm currently using an LG W2261VP which is 21.5" and a good screen but I have noticed with some colors there are vertical lines on the screen. This isn't dead pixels and is uniform, groups of 3 lines. I know it's not the video card as I've tried another LCD and it didn't show any lines.

So my question is Apple aside what is the best 22"-24" LCD for the G5, I don't want to spend too much as I said I'm hoping to get a new iMac 27" as soon as Apple updates them. But I plan on keeping the G5 for the time being to run some software no longer working on Intel or the current OS X. It will be moving to a new home once the iMac is here.

ETA - My G5 is the Early 2005 Duel CPU 2Ghz model, the one just before the first and only duel core G5, I got it used on eBay about 4-5 years ago for 1/3 the original price.

I suggest Dell's Ultrasharp WFP's.

Congrads man!

I had the same G5 as my first. It was an upgrade from my DA Dual/533. I still miss both of those PPC's. I sold them get my 2011 mini. Which is a champ of a computer for what it is. But I missed the PPC experience. Bought this PB 1.5 that I use more than the mini! :D I'm now on the hunt again for a decked out G5 so I can give the mini to my wife to go with her 1.83 MacBook and keep her happy.

That way I rock my PPC tech for as many years that I can get. I'm also in IT, I love pushing gear as far as it will go. Chive it on, stay calm and enjoy the ride if I may say. :D

Forgot to add - I recently bought a Magic Mouse for the G5, as the Logitech was dying. I finally got it working with Leopard. So now I have some touch features on my old G5.

FYI I will be get the Magic Touch Pad when I order my iMac, might get a 2nd Magic Mouse for it depending how much I need one. I like the Magic Mouse but the touch surface is a little to sensitive some times.

What kind of features? The tech at Apple told me that only two buttons would work on the Magic Mouse if i ran Leopard. Multitouch requires SnowLeo or higher.

I wanted one for my G4, and while a PowerPC CPU doesn't exclude multitouch, the Leopard does.

On Leopard 10.5.8 I have 2 finger swipe to go back a page and up/down/left/right momentum scrolling. But that's about it. You need to install an update and then use terminal to activate some features.

At first I couldn't get it working, had no scroll at all, just the left and right buttons. Not sure if the G4 will do it, even my G5 has some lag some times but over all I like it. I think you need Leopard to use the Magic Mouse.

I needed to ask, I currently have a USB Bluetooth dongle to make it work but it's pretty big, sticks out about 4cm and would like to get a micro one that will hide under the edge of my wired keyboard. Yes I also have a current style Apple KB, got it just after I got the G5.

Found a seller on Ebay that will sell me a 23" Cinema Display for 185 pounds including shipping but it doesn't come without the power supply.

How much would a power supply for the monitor cost me?

How do I upload pictures.....I've been trying to upload pics of my G5 but when i click on upload nothing happens?!? If I could have some help that would be great.

Even easier, just click on the "Attachments" link, (looks like a paper clip),
from the box labeled "Upload File from your Computer", choose your photo and then click upload.
You'll need to "Preview the post" before you can see the results.
Works for me every time.

I uploaded them on the original post. I had to upload them online than copy the link because for some reason it would not do anything when I hit the upload button. But like I said right now there's just a few pics of the tower...I will get pics of the full system up once I get my new monitor and a few other things...enjoy the teasers though...haha. :D:apple::D

Nice. :) :) It's cool to hear that I'm not the only one still using a G5 today :):apple:

Having the G5 for over a week now has made me love it even more. Hasn't made one little error. It's so nice since I constantly see malfunctioning computers to come home and not worry about what's gonna happen next. Again thanks for all the posts guys...I will keep you all updated on the status of the beast and post more pics as soon as the project moves forward.

As mentioned in another thread, I too just recently got a G5 power mac, my second, this one should be my last, they do not come much better then the 2.5 quad.
As most others, I too am totally impressed by this beast, it is fast and quiet, important when it sits on the desk right next to your ears.

A point maybe worth mentioning when using "Manage attachments" to upload photos from your computer is...
You have to keep the photos within the max size allowed for each format or it will not upload. I've been caught by this one myself.

How'd I get so far off topic.
