Just Got My White Glass Backplate For My iPhone 4

i'm planning on getting my whole phone converted to white from iresq after i get a replacement phone next week.. :D

may be good quality but is it that much of a drastic difference that it warrants the steep increase? iresq's prices are quite high. adding to the fact that you have to pay 60+ dollars even if you give your black parts is quite a price.

btw, this isn't a shot at you but aren't many of the youtube reviewers who are doing the white "unboxing" getting it done for free by iresq? saw both snazzyiphoneguy, jone4lakers, and mtpflyers all unboxing it. so im assuming its either a coincidence that they all got their phones white or iresq is trying to get their name out.. :confused:

but anywho, getting it down for free is one thing (thats if they got it done for free) but paying out your pocket 55 vs 95 dollars, if the quality is only one or two less than iresq's i would be happy to pay the 55.

As a response, I asked if he can ship me the camera ring instead. I gave him some links to China wholesalers, perhaps he can get them locally. Hopefully that can solve the issue. I'm already sorta "out" $18, so I don't feel it would help by spending $15 (not $3 as he believes) to ship back to China.

well i just decided that i'll do the swap myself haha... bought the back off iresq and the front from ebay. i'll be sure to post up pics when all is complete :D

Mate, can you please link us to where you bought the front?

I'm interested in buying the front but AFAIK you can only buy the front frame, glass, digitizer and LCD all as one.

Just wonderring about what you got and what the quality would be like. Wouldn't want to settle for a screenanything worse than the retina :D

Have you heard anything? I'm in the same boat. Mine arrived with no camer aring/shield. I've never had to actually return somethign under these conditions that I bought from eBay so I honestly don't even know what the deal is (seesm like he should be required to send or at least pay for postage ahead of time), but like you, I sure am weary throwing good money after bad by sending something back and hoping to get paid.

Heck. I would be better off probably taking the loss and selling it on eBay myself with a correct picture and a providing a link to one of the camera ring sites you posted.
 
^^^ thats a good deal 69 plus shiping i am serching on ebay to get my white glass but its that deal is true i good with it
 
Oh, I just realized that it looks like the real kit has a hole in the back glass which is then filled with the camera ring assembly. The stuff the $20 ebay guy is selling is one pice of glass, which is why the flash is able to blind the camera. With the OEM setup, it can't really happen as the glass in front of hte camera is not the same piece of glass as the rest of the back. If this is the case, then the camera ring probably will not work anyway.
 
received my back glass shattered in a few pieces. :mad: the glass came in a thin envelope with a single layer of bubble wrap. very poorly packaged... i just contacted the ebay seller to see if he'd send me a replacment. he better not ask me to send this busted one back.

hope everyone else gets theres in one piece.

Hey guys, so I just found this seller on eBay who sells the white iPhone parts, and I got the back assembly from him and it included the flash diffuser. I have no problems with the flash clouding out the pics, everything worked great and the part looks great as well. Here's a pic.

Just thought I'd share that since I'm sure many of you would be interested. Also, did you guys notice that iresq is no longer selling self install kits or the white fronts, you can only send it in to them now. Clearly they're being greedy and want people to pay for the service, which is a ripoff because it's VERY easy to install the front if you follow a guide from ifixit or directfixs video tutorial. Just gotta take your time.

ALSO, a word of advice. For some of you who already got the back piece and think the flash might be clouding up your pics, first check to make sure that there isn't a little tiny plastic film covering the outer lens, because that will cause it as well. Most of these pieces come with a little tiny protector film over the lens, and it's almost impossible to notice, as well as being very difficult to remove without scratching the lens. Just a heads up. The back assembly from this seller will have that on the lens

Also, do any of you know the best place to get the front? Does any place have them with the ear grille on it as well? If anyone knows, I'd appreciate it. I might just chance it and get one off eBay from another reputable seller with good ratings, there's one seller selling them for 119 but doesn't seem to include the ear grille.

He stated that he cannot get the camera rings himself and that I should either go for the refund or he'll refund me $5 for the price of a camera ring.

I'm still debating, but since the previous poster stated that a true glass backing should have a physical hole for the camera. The camera ring is not just a flat square "washer," but actually has a raised ring with a glass inside that will all mount flush with the hole of the glass.
 
well i received my back housing from iresq and i'm going to send it back. the left mounting bracket (where you put the screws in) was not straight and was facing outwards. I didn't notice it at first but i had a very hard time trying to slide the housing down but i could never get it in all the way. I contacted iresq and i'm probably going to ship it back to them tomorrow *sighs*
 
Several questions.

Second - If installed properly and you keep the original back, is there any way for Apple to know if you need warranty work?

Third - Are these metal backs combined with a front screen protector a good solution to prevent easy glass scratches? (since the back will be metal with no glass)

Anyone who's had their back replaced fora while, I'd love your advice. Thanks!
 
I bought one of those $20 white black plates and its garbage. I installed it today and it didn't look as white as I had expected. It was a milky white compared to a white 3GS and it didn't look shiny at all. POS.

I regret buying it and from the responses from the seller I rather not deal with returning it to him.

I'm interested in that brushed metal as well. ebay has it for $30 + $10 shipping.
 
I emailed iResQ over the weekend to ask whether they'd ship a white backplate to me in the UK and they responded on Monday saying that they don't ship internationally. Needless to say I won't be swapping out my backplate any time soon, but on the flip side I have saved myself $89.00 and the ridiculous amount they would have charged me to ship it.

Shame though...
