If he says it does, you can always get a refund if it isn't.

Even if you have to make a dispute, you can prove he said it was glass back.

Exactly. Worst case is I lose $20 but most likely eBay gives me my money back. Best case is it is a glass and real OEM for only $20. (probably least likely though ;) )

Well, that was rather quick (I think).

Did he give you any tracking information? And what part of the US is it shipping to? Thanks!

No tracking information, just stated that it was shipped. So, I received it in the mail today in a nicely taped up styrofoam box from Hong Kong.

Unfortunately, I can't install it on my iPhone. I just got a warranty replacement yesterday and didn't notice that I received it with one of the screws completely stripped and something rattling inside. Going back tomorrow for another replacement.

Anyhoo, the quality is decent, especially for its price. It's a glass back, white plastic trim, and the back is painted white metal, including the bottom holsters for the screws. The font and details is pretty close, very difficult to differentiate from the original, unless at close range. It does say "Model NO:..." and the back of my iPhone just says "Model ... EMC 308A ..."

No, it does not have a flash diffuser, but it is glass and not holes in the glass. The grey backside of the glass looks like it's designed to prevent bleeding of the light of the flash.

I'm very curious to see what it looks like installed, so I think I'll wait until my wife's asleep and take hers apart temporarily... ;)

That's the $20 eBay one? Looks like it doesn't have the camera ring?

Don't strip out the screw on hers too!;)

Just got my $20.00 ebay white back housing, it's missing the diffuser and the camera is missing that black foam around the edge. Not bad for $20.00, also the seller told me it was glass, but I'm not really sure it's glass. It's kinda like a piece of clear plastic.

Can you please post a side by side picture of the original and the $20 one? Also, does it fit well? Does the camera work okay with it?

Well, after easily installing it on my replacement iPhone 4, I immediately took to the Camera app to see what the effects that a housing minus the camera ring and the flash diffuser would result in.

Not good. The sample photos are included below, and you can see that the forced-flash image is heavily washed out.

I don't think the flash diffuser is as important as the camera ring would be. The camera ring, according to the original eBay photo, is an opaque rounded square with a smaller hole.

I believe that opaque "shield" prevents the flash from washing out the image by providing a narrower field to capture the image at hand.

Since the product doesn't match the photo he showed in the auction, I've decided to pursue the matter by requesting a better replacement. The seller has noted in his auctions that he is on vacation until October 7, so we'll see what he has to say when he comes back.

In the meantime, I've reverted back to the original black housing until I can find or create a makeshift camera ring.

other than the missing camera ring and diffuser, how is the over all fit and finish of the backing? can you please post pics of it installed? also is there a way to transfer the camera ring from the old black backing?

For the $20 white back plate that is missing the camera ring can I just buy this camera ring from here and attached it to the back plate?

I ordered my back plate already from ebay so I wonder if this will be a solution.
