Only Glass Backplate with silver ring is included.

Notes
Part Number: IPH4-BKPLT-WHT

*This glass panel does not come with camera lens, volume button, hold button or any internal parts. The user will remove all the parts from his old back glass and replace onto the new glass. This is a fairly easy process (Remove the two screws at the bottom, lift off back).

**The camera is NOT attached to the back glass and does not need to be removed.

It's just the glass. I'm sure of it.

If it is just the glass and not the entire back assembly, how is it installed? Does it completely replace the back, or will the back need to be removed and then itself taken apart to switch out the glass?

A little confused...

I think what you have to do is remove the back plate then take a heat gun to the glass and peel it off the bezel. That's my guess.

Would anybody happen to have a white backplate-d phone and a orange bumper who wouldn't mind snapping a picture?

That's the phone I wish Apple had made. Strongly dislike the white front.

If you are thinking about getting a back plate from eBay, don't. All you get is the glass panel and that's it. On top of that the quality of the paint and graphics is crap.

The problem with that case is the cut out for the flash is too small. There's a few threads on MR about other cases with the flash cut out being too small and causing flash artifacts.

That's an easy fix with a dremel tool and about 5 minutes. 5 minutes = $100, I would go that route.

Flash Defuser

If all these backs are Genuine Apple items why is it just a hole where the flash is and no defuser?

I am thinking about buying a complete back but don't like it just being an empty hole, especially for $120+

Could someone maybe let me know if they have bought a COMPLETE back and confirm if they have the defuser or not?

Thanks

Mike

To each his own. Plastic back vs OEM Glass. Glad you found an alternative.

I received my plastic back casing yesterday. Total junk, flash is washed out, and it fits really tight. I was afraid it would scratch up my phone so I quickly took it off. Had issues taking it off as well. I'm not putting it back onto my iPhone - glad it was only $.99.

To xraytech, thanks for your video, that was great that you did that. You say that it's OEM, but it doesn't have a "diffuser". Just what is a "diffuser"? Is it really necessary IRT flash? What is the impact on these third-party pieces that don't have a diffuser, is it just a hole for the flash?

Maybe when the white iPhone releases the demand will go down and the price as well.

I posted this in another thread:

Just a little FYI, My sister's friend dropped her iphone 4 and cracked the back panel. Ebay currently has half of China selling OEM glass back panels (without the 16 and 32 gig labels on them) for about $9 bucks which sounds like a deal and really is... the only problem with this is that it's JUST THE GLASS PANEL and not the Plastic Panel that is attached to the Glass panel. I took the back panel off only to find that the glass is attached to the back panel with ADHESIVE. The plastic frame panel is attached to the glass panel along with some metal striping and other layers of film. I personally think you're going to need a lot of heat to detach the cracked glass from the back frame panel.

oh and another observation:

See the two little holes on the replacement glass back panel that houses the camera ring and the LED flash? They are permanently glued onto the glass which means they don't come off the glass which means no silver ring and no optical flash extension/dispersing.

Also, there seems to be a metal strip that lines the back of the glass panel on the iPhone.

The $9-$20 glass panels on ebay and fix-it sites are a no go so don't waste your money on them. I have one and can't use it.

No diffuser on my white replacement back. Not an issue IMHO, if anything it will make the flash brighter.

I can confirm this with "ellsworth". Any "Glass Replacement Backs" less than what www.iresq.com charges, stay away.
