What are your opinions on it? Why did you not take the smaller rMB? Congratulations on your shiny new design marvel.

I am with the OP on this. I am just as excited with my machine as he seems to be. Part of it is just because it is something fresh. I also like the keyboard and find it fun to type on. I have had many mbp in the past and getting a new one was never much fun the past few years as it was just more of the same. This machine is something different for sure.

Probably the most fun I have had a new computer since the original unibody macs were launched. The cables and port aren't a problem for me. You plug your iPhone into a socket and let it do it's thing over the air. I don't think I would go back to plugging my iPhone into my computer out of habit again. doing it this way is so much cleaner. If you move around a lot when you are on the computer not having your phone plugged to it is actually better in some ways.

I have one hub for USB when I do time machine back ups. That's it. i do this maybe once a week or if I feel the need so really no big deal.

What you are left with is a machine with only one cable ever coming out of it and a tiny form factor that is great. It is as people have said somewhat of a tablet replacement due to it's size. Very comfortable for using curled up in bed or on the sofa.

The individually backlit keyboard keys are nice at night as well, very little leaking. They help to make this a more attractive computer than any I have seen lately. The variety of color choice while not a reason to buy is a nice option. Was getting a little tired of the 'pro' silver.

This machine is great for the average consumer like me and designed to be a fun little machine. The mbp is what you want if you want an octopus with cables on all sides. This is your on the go laptop free of all that. I am thinking of maybe adding a Timecapsule to my line up to help cut that final cable and calling it a day. Add some airpods (whenever they are ready) and I am beginning to completely understand what Apple had in mind for this device.

I have an ATV for when I want a big screen so that is no problem. I don't see them ever adding a second port to this thing because it isn't necessary for most people. When I first bought it I really wished there was a second port on the headphone side but the more I use it the less I want to plug anything into it. Maybe I am becoming delusional like Tim Cook is said to be but I could care less about it having a headphone jack once some wireless buds that are good come out.

Okay that is a lot of accessories to buy to make it slick but the ATV I had already. The TC is useful for more than one machine and the airpods I wanted anyway.

Like the OP I just got mine but so far it has been nothing but a joy to use for me. I can't believe that I am this happy with it. In a time when most things Apple are being griped about this is one I feel they got right.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us all. I have had the same experience like you. The touch pad is really good and long lasting keyboard. Enjoy it for long time.

I feel the exact same way that you do my friend. This machine is one that Apple got right. Could they have added an extra port or something? Absolutely - but this machine is meant to be on the go, productivity device. Wow, I just typed all of that in like record time lol... I love this freaking keyboard. It's so different, but once you get used to it, you type at record speeds lol. I wish they had these keyboards when I was in grade school. I would've nailed those typing tests lol.

I am so glad to hear that you're enjoying your computer as well! It's such an awesome laptop!

I picked up a used 12 rMB, have had it about a month and I love it. I have AC+ till 2019!

Yay for that AppleCare!!! So glad to hear that you're enjoying your computer as well.

Geez, I can't decide on buying a MacBook m3/m5 or a MacBook Pro non touch bar 8gb/16gb.

My needs are nothing hardcore; e-mails, web surfing, Netflix, streaming, youtube, word/Excel/PP and Hearthstone.

Advice needed!

Today, it boils down to choosing between fan and fanless, wider colour gamut display or not, better keyboard or not. That's it. ;)

Size-wise they are roughly same ballpark, but weight-wise Pro 13 is 400g heavier. Also, Pro has two ports against one for MB 12. That about sums it all up.

went to the apple store today, and played with the touch bar 13" (so... what did we decide? "TBrMB"?...).

i think, in a few years, all macusers will be using the touch bar, but right now, it feels like novelty. am used to looking at the screen, working the keyboard & trackpad. with the touch bar, i look at the screen, then the touchbar, then the screen.

but we'll adapt (apple will make us).

meanwhile, am happy with my 12" MB. the lighter weight, smaller size... near-perfect. for what i use it for, never feels sluggish (i do music & video work on a MBP). i take it everywhere. so am happy (for now....)

Here are some pics... if these don't sway you nothing will. I really have no idea why my roommate thinks my phone and pink Mac are sort of girly.

Dear all, kindly help me with a humble request of mine.

If possible, would you be able to tell me your ambient temperature and CPU temperature? That will help me judge a lot about the possible running temperature here in India.

Cute little fluffy ball you got there.

I was in Egypt over the summer and have noticed it ran a bit hotter, but then it was 40+ C (ambient) compared to 10-15C in Europe, nothing serious or worrying mind you but certainly noticeable! I live in New Zealand now, it's ~20C and never any issues. Generally speaking I've never had issues with cooling, I heard you're supposed to get some sort of warning if it gets too hot and I've never gotten one or felt that it was worryingly hot. Hope that helps.

I wouldn't worry if I were you, I'd say you'd be fine unless you plan on using it in direct sunlight, outdoors, on an Indian summer's day :p

Egypt is where it's at! I am in India, so yes, we also see the same summers with 40+ ambient. But no outside use at all. Never ever have I opened my MBP outside, simply because of the dust we have here. Thank you!

If you tell me the best way to find that out I will do it for you.

For CPU temp, iStats Menu should do it, the trial version. Ambient temp.. I don't know, I just use my Air Conditioner for that .. it tells me the ambient :D

I've had my rMB 2016 for nearly 3 weeks now and I love it, but I'm concerned about 1 thing: the battery health. It's already down to 96% from the 100% it started out on day 1 (showing as normal). I've had 8 cycles on the battery so far, rest of the time it's plugged in. That seems *very fast* to lose battery health. (Yes, I've "calibrated" the battery by running my fully charged rMB down to where the laptop shuts off, then I waited the recommended 5 hrs, then plugged in and let it fully charge up while off.)

As a comparison: My 2013 MBA (purchased June 2013) is at 87% health and 265 cycles.

Don't worry about it, it'll settle around 95% ;)

Try not to run the battery too low often if you can help it. Google how to care for lithium polymer batteries, always good to have the knowledge on how to look after a product while it's still new :)

Don't let that bother you one single bit. As long as you have 80%+ health and 1000 cycles you are within spec. If it drops below 80% anytime during this first year, apple will replace it.
