Apple Store app says it ships with Sierra.

Hello,

Bought Macbook m5 on november 15th on online Apple Store here in France and it came with the last version of El Capitan. Even tough it is advertised with Sierra on their web site. Guess they had to clear stock...

There should be a label with manufacturing and import months. :)

If not, still, Coconut Battery can tell you when the Mac was manufactured.

Here in India, I asked one of the dealers, and he gave me a manufacturing month of October 2016. That laptop might be coming with Sierra, I wonder.

Got mine about 3 months ago. Core M7 with 512Gb SSD.
Very happy with it so far. Got used to the new keyboard quite fast.
Battery life is fantastic (at least compared to my Lenovo T450s).

The 13 was great but the deciding factor for me was the smaller size. I fly regularly and every little bit counts.

Of course. One full pound is one full pound. I am quite torn between the 256 Pro vs 512 rMB as well, with the 512 being able to comfortably fit in the bag I will carry.

However, the keyboard - the keyboard on the new Pro definitely hits a very sweet spot for me. I will take time to adjust to the rMB keyboard, spatially speaking, but the 13 Pro felt very much at home. Add to that the flatter response on the rMB, which I would have adjusted to, but the response on the Pro is really a good balance.

So I think I would take the 13 Pro. This also means I will have to forego one lens in my pack. :p

Haha if you travel as much as me, one pound means a lot when you don't check bags. Just wish they made the MB with the 1TB SSD like the MBP I returned. I still have the late 2015 27" iMac at home and a mid 2012 Air that is now regulated to a shelf in the closet.

I do not fly frequently, I don't take the train frequently, but since 3 months I am driving thrice weekly and I was using my iPad as my office suite for all this while, but now need to use InDesign and hence I need to have a more portable laptop than the 15 inch Late 2011 I currently have. It is a beast of a machine in terms of power still. 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD really rock. But together with the power cable and charger, this machine gets noticeable, and I am now frankly bored with the MBP I have, ONLY because of the display. Everything is working just fine, but lately I feel the non-retina display has changed in reproduction of colours. The vibrance is gone, increasing the brightness just hurts, does not really change anything else. Contrast feels like it has reduced, if that is even possible. Looking at the new P3 display, which is retina vs my non-retina, now that is really a treat. All other things that I am getting are bonuses.

New Pro will last me 5 years again, but I have a little bit of apprehensions with the RAM, is all. The lesser weight of the 12 rMB is a very good thing, and it is making me think, but at least in terms of direct lifting, the new Pro 13 does not feel that bad at all.

I'm not much for the 5 year theory as I have too many laptops in the closet already. A Dell XPS 13, a SP 3 and the Air. The 13" MBP was the best I ever had as far as laptops, although the wife insists her 2015 15" is still better, enjoy yours.

Well, to add this thread I hope I like mine. I got a 12" rMB 2016 M5 512ssd refurb from best buy.com. It should arrive Friday and will post a new thread on my thoughts. Couldn't beat the deal, but hope that best buy "delivers" as it is an open box certified excellent refurb.

If not, I will return it and go with a new one. But i saved close to $250 going this route.

Ugh people living in the states have it good as far as Apple goes. Deals abound everywhere and liberal return policies. I hope you enjoy your new MB.

el capitan feels faster on my core m5, so i downgraded back to el capitan for the time being.

Just reporting on the MacBook forum that I finally brought home a space grey MacBook...Pro.

13 inch, and that too Touch Bar. Figured I will really have buyers' remorse if I do not get the Touch ID. Bar is not important at the moment, but ID is something I will love to use every time.

Well, I finally got to play with a new MBP at the Apple Store in Glasgow and as relatively new owner of a MacBook I really struggled to tell the difference between the keyboards. I thought the MBP keyboard felt a little more spaced out, but if you put them side by side it's not. Maybe the extra space around the sides makes a difference, but I found it just as alien to type on after using the old keyboard on 3 MBAs and my iMac for so long. The key travel felt very similar, but the MBP keyboard felt a little louder and clickier, so perhaps there's a little difference there. I quite liked the Touch Bar, and could see that finding it's way on to all models eventually, as well as copied by other vendors, but the £700 price difference for a 512GB SSD model and the M5 MacBook I picked up just couldn't be justified.

I've had my MacBook well over a month now, and I'm still really struggling with the keyboard. I love everything else, and I'm sure I'll get used to it, but it still feels like a downgrade from the Apple keyboard of old.

Even with the slimmer frame, the MBP still feels bulky compared to the MBA, so I'm sure I made the right decision with a MacBook, which is so light and thin, and much more MBA-like to me. I still think the MBA chassis was just about perfect, and with a retina screen would have been the perfect laptop, but that ain't ever going to happen. More chance of the 14" MacBook, and maybe by that point I'll have finally got used the butterfly keyboard :D

I think by the time Apple comes round to deliver a 14" screen, they'd be ready with first generation caterpillar keyboard with its own set of pros and cons. :D:p
