I see he did post a blury photo of the manual. Still not so sure i'm going to believe it but maybe that's just me being stubborn. Let's put it this way, why in the world would Apple make the 17 day delay if they are sending boxes to retailers already? It doesn't make sense. Ship the thing earlier then. I know supply might be shipped as they get it, but one would think just maybe they're just holding back to throw out hype, which in the end just irritates me because we've waited long enough, now Apple just delays it more. Pretty irritating.
Delay it more? I didn't think Tiger had been delayed at all. Weren't they always working towards a 1H '05 release? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

It wasn't delayed, but if other people are getting legal copies of it means they're not slacking on supply. so why not send it to those who have preordered it too? I don't know, upsets me that others are getting it and i preordered the thing the second it became avaible for preorder and i'm not getting it until the 29th.

That always happens with Apple. I remember when the G5 first came out: people who pre-ordered were still waiting while anyone could just walk in to a store and pick one up. Pre-ordering is a recipe for heartache.

I had a friend out in NZ and what happened sometimes was that if I sent a letter out there they said it would take like 10 - 14 days on average. Sometimes it turned up in 2 days cos it just so happened to catch all the right flight connections and fell into all teh right baskets. It could just be that Apple shipped early expecting it to take upto the maximum ship time but it was alot quicker than they expected.

I think this is different. Those who pre-ordered will get Tiger on the 29th I'm betting. There will be some who get it a day or two early/late, but that's to be expected - the logistics can never be perfect.

I think Nermal's case is the only legit copy we've heard about MR so far. I think Nermal's assumption is correct - his reseller in NZ just decided to send out the retail copies as soon as they got them, which could get that reseller in trouble if Apple found out and wanted to take action. You are always going to have leaks and people breaking the rules.

Would I like my pre-order copy of Tiger to show up today? Sure. Does it bother me to wait until next Friday? No.

I'm with buryyourbrideau, the anticipation is part of the fun. Plus, Apple has done nothing wrong. They said 1H '05, it is on time. They announced it would be available April 29th and I'm confident I'll get a copy by then, give a take a day or two.

Wow, so jelous right now.

Hope they send my pre-order a couple days early, that would be awesome.

You try holding a book steady at arm's length while also trying to look through a cheap camera (which you also have to keep steady) and see how blurry it comes out
I took a few photos and that one was the best :(

why in the world would Apple make the 17 day delay if they are sending boxes to retailers already?

If I had to guess, they probably want to make sure that all the resellers have plenty of stock on the 29th. And then, as we've seen, some smaller stores sell it early :D

A guy in Ireland says he got it too.

Nermal, you may be the first person on MR to receive your copy, but considering your case is not unique, I'm sure there are tens if not hundreds of other NZ'ers who have received their copies as well.

I remember i got panther a few days early from my school store as well, so i find it quite possible for Tiger to go out a bit early.

Yeah, there are only about 5 members here from NZ, so there are bound to be lots more cases that we haven't heard of :)

Hehe, we'll see how it goes after a clean install :) Panther 10.3.0 + update after update + haxies + Tiger upgrade is a recipe for disaster

Wait, what's this then? My copy of Tiger doesn't say Tiger on the box anywhere. What's this it says? Hmmm....Long...longho....Longhorn???? All right, is somebody playing tricks on me? ;) :D

Tiger Would Not Install

Well now I'm sure no one will believe me...could not install it on my dual 2 GHz G5, as it seems the partition on the internal drive where I have 10.3.8 is not repairable by Disk Utility...the Mac tech support wouldn't believe me, either...what a hoot...

I'm in the process of making some large prints on my Epson 7600 and want
to try Norton Systemworks 3.0 (which I don't have) before giving up and nuking my drive to do a clean install.

But, in the meantime, I'm going to put it on my G4 15" PB...will send screenshots later today, hopefully.

Norton Systemworks should do a good job of nuking the drive by itself...

Ouch! I'm sorry! :( You've tried fsck, since disk utility wouldn't help you, right?

Hmmm the site says you won't get it until the 29th just like the rest of the world. I don't think a reputable store like Macmall would put its relationship with Apple on the line over something stupid like that.

I'll believe it when I see it.

That being your first post doesn't make it any more believable either.

He's not the only one. You guys need to calm down.

This is rubbish, not only do I not know when my Tiger is coming but now the Apple store says it can't find an order with my details (I copied and pasted the web-order number from the conformation email).

Everyones gonna have 10.4 and I'm gonna be stuck on 10.3.9 and get bullied :(

More Tiger Pics

Here are 3 more Tiger pics...so far so good on my PB...but ran DiskWarrior on my G5, said there were two overlapping areas it could not repair...so going to update Techtool 4.01 to 03 on my bootable backup and try that.

If TT doesn't do the job I'm going to nuke the system drive and go thru the hassle of reinstalling everything. But so far I'm very very happy with Tiger on the PB.

Looks like you found the golden ticket! Congratulations for getting it to work on the powerbook. That's hilarious (and depressing) that Mac support wouldn't believe you had a copy!

Save the install log!

When you install, save the install log. I'm interested to see what the first six lines is of the log. Here's one below that isn't from a boxed product. Can someone run the install from a boxed product Tiger and post their first six lines?

Why are there two pics of a PB running tiger and a third pic of a desktop monitor running what looks like tiger with a tiger manual infront of it?

I don't think that's Tiger... but what do I know -- I don't have it!

I think the point was to show this thread (on his G5) with the Tiger manual.
