Are these ownerships why you're asking, Sceeter?

Tiger INSTALLED

The shot of the manual in front of the G5 was done yesterday when I
received Tiger...I shot most of the others today when I got Tiger on the PB.

I installed Vonage last week and just got a .wav on my email saying it was a mistake, but several other copies had gone out...I don't want to give the person's name or get them in trouble.

I just did a quick search under the word "log" and there is no installer log !
Does it now have a new name ? It's running fine...but still busy with other things on the G5.

Screen Cap of My Tiger Build Number

...as requested...this is the build number off my laptop...I'm going to nuke
my G5 as neither TT 4.0.3 nor Diskwarrior helped...it's my damn system drive that's the problem...not Tiger...it's beautiful on th PB.

Whats the specs on your pb? want to get an idea on how it will run on mine :D

PB Specs on Tiger Machine

Basic 1.25 GHz 15" aluminum...just more RAM...neat the way there's a sound of crunching paper as the trash empties...haven't had that much time to play with it given 4 large prints on the G5 and running TT and DW...going to sleep
but have to bite the bullet and decide about nuking the G5 system tomorrow.
Uuugh. Oh, well.

thanks. good to have confirmation from a real person instead of the rumors sites :)

heh

Its funny, my teacher (who is also the dean) was walking around today with the tiger discs.. He got the school a sweet deal with apple. All the students are getting tiger for free :D (yes, legally)

Its weird. I just got my copy, but it doesn't seem to work correctly in my eMac. I'll start up with the OSX install DVD, and after the part where I select the language I want to use, it just sits there for about 3 minutes, and then it shuts my eMac off.

I don't have anything strange plugged in (i unplugged the net connection as well as my printer), so I don't know whats going on. The disc doesn't look scratched or anything.

I'm sorry

I'd like to apologize to eric535g for doubting him. You've proven your possession of Tiger. Thanks for sharing!

Tiger Now on G5

...no need to apologize...even when I opened the box and saw it --Tiger -- I still doubted it !

As for the saga of getting it on my G5 that had a partition problem...I want to honor the system, so I'm nuking the internal system partition and doing a clean install...better now than have hassles later.

Tiger Is on My G5

One word of advice...when the DVD boots you lose your wireless (BT) mouse.
A screen came up showing what looked like batteries being inserted in, but it didn't work for me so I put in my old USB mouse and keyboard temporarily. Of course you can get it back.

Tiger is running now on my G5...ended up doing a full fresh install, and now having to bring in prefs, reinstall certain programs.

I'll be in Wash., DC Tuesday evening doing a talk at the Charles Sumner School around 7 PM--if there are doubters still, show up and I'll let you have a look at it on my PB.

Spotlight is great, Mail is great...but I'm going to be busy next day getting ready for DC--sorry I didn't do speed tests before and after...but that's sort of meaningless to me. I love Apple, and I can't wait to get up and running with iChat.

So not that I'm one of them, but what about all those people Apple sold a mac to recently, since they started pushing the wirless combo where you get a really good deal on BT/wireless kb/wireless mouse but no wired HW? :(

Congratulations Eric. You just owned 95% of the posters on this thread.
Apparently they don't read http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/

There were a couple of people who have reported accidently receiving copies of Tiger too soon. The retailers seem to ask for them back, threaten the customer by saying Apple won't support their machine if they install, then promise free goodies for the trouble. It's kinda funny if you think about it.

You know, up until Steve Jobs smites them, as he is known to often do. :p

Keynote 2.0.1 and Tiger

One interesting sidenote to my fresh install of Tiger on my G5--I installed Keynote 2.0 from a disk, and cannot update to 2.0.1.

My assumption is that rather than compound the problem, Apple has chosen to have Tiger "deny" the update. On the other hand, as I did a simple Tiger "upgrade" on my laptop, I can run KN 2.0.1 on it as the Keynote update was done under 10.3.8.

I think I read somewhere that a KN 2.0.1 file would not play on KN 2.0, which could make for some interesting situations...I have yet to test this or determine if there is some other reason Keynote would not update to 2.0.1 on
a pure Tiger install.

Awww, I'm not going to have Tiger for ages :(

All you lucky people ....

There is definitely an option, for anything that is installed by the package installer (not drag and drop) to only let users upgrade on a certain OS build range. I know the author of at least one piece of freeware that uses the installer specifically stated that he had done this until he knows whether or not it will b0rk a Tiger system....

Tiger and FoldersSynchronizer

And for anyone who uses FoldersSynchronizer, latest version 3.4.9, it won't run -- comes up on both my PB and on the G5 saying it needs Lucida Grande 10 pt. which is not, apparently, in the Fonts folder.
