I got iOS 5 the day it came out for devs and I've just started to notice over the past 2-3 days that it lags quite a lot during random times. It was working fine until now. Maps seems to lag all the time. Touching a location takes a few seconds to load it, kind of feels like my iPhone 4 is like my old iPhone 3G...

That plus the whole system just seems to hiccup every now and then. I'm going to wait for the next beta to see if it gets better. Otherwise, I'm downgrading back to 4.3 until it releases this fall.

Yea thats the same for everyone. Chill out. The next version will be much better and if we're REALLY lucky, it will come out today

I'll weigh in some of my notices: (I only have iOS5 installed on the iPhone 3Gs 32GB, as of this post)

- Netflix doesn't work.

- During Sync, the phone slows to a crawl. The good part, you can still use the phone while it syncs.

- Notifications work for Facebook & Twitter, also with Phone, Words with Friends, etc.

- Facebook works fine. At least for me.

- Newsstand has no Magazines and the "Store" is greyed out.

- I have iCloud set up with Lion DP4. It syncs all my Contacts, Calendar and other information perfectly. I make one change on the computer, it shows up on the iPhone and vise versa.

- The iCloud Back Up seems to be broken. It took 1.1GB for my iPhone back up but it never completed even after leaving it overnight.

- I don't have anyone with iMessage to test. (Anyone wanna give it a try? Lol)

- Radio applications I use daily include: ooTunes & DI Radio & Pandora. All seems to work without any issues.

- Camera's photo roll count doesn't update when I save a photo from MMS or taken a photo from Camera. Restarting the Photos app fixes that.

- Beejive works fine. I do get AIM disconnects but I had that issue under iOS4 as well.

- Under iOS4 and iOS3, when you activate the EQ under iPod (Music now), the volume is decreased. That seems to be fixed now.

Just to list a few...

Thanks for all of the information; especially Netflix. I hadn't tested that one yet and am very disappointed it's broken for now. Another broken app that hurts is Evernote. I use that one daily, so hopefully there are some updates soon.

Will there be a way to move the bluetooth toggle (or any other settings toggle), to the homescreen? I know it is a minor thing, but it annoys me that I have to make 4 clicks to turn the thing on and off when I want.

#1 thing on my wishlist. Sucks its not in there.

Installed it on my First generation iPad:

- Music has a new style under iPad. It no longer looks like an iTunes style, more of a jukebox style. No longer when you select a song, the album art takes up full screen.

- Netflix still doesn't work

- Still haven't tested iMessages

- Under mail, selecting "All Inboxes" or any list of E-Mails, it slides out from the side instead of a tab style.

- Newsstand is the same as on the iPhone.

- Safari has tab features

- Notification Center seems empty without a Stocks and Weather widget on stock.

- The indicator on the corner where the Battery level is, for music playing, seems to be missing. I didn't notice I was playing a song until I noticed an album art on my lock screen

- There is a private browsing feature under Safari's settings. I don't seem to notice that on the iPhone

maybe I missed this but will we able to respond to texts right from the lock screen or even home screen w/o opening the "messages" app itself, bitesms style?

Yes, I have iOS 5 beta installed, but hoping for this in the final release.

I've just got a quick question regarding a very minor issue I have currently with iOS.

When I'm composing an email on my iPhone and I begin typing in the "To:" field, a list pops in just below that field with suggested email addresses (email addresses I have used previously).

Is there a way to clear individual email addresses that I have previously sent mail to?

Hopefully that makes sense? :p

No big deal if you still can't remove them, but just thought I'd ask anyway. :)

Thanks in advance!

Has anyone noticed their iPhone is now running much more slowly? With the Verizon iPhone I have noticed screen switches, app loading, and games are randomly pretty hitchy now. Not remotely as smooth as 4.2.8 was.

Also, the notifications and badges don't always seem to work correctly. For instance, I will get a txt from someone, and while I hear the notification, I didn't have a message center or badge show up. But when I go into my txt messages, there it is and it is still highlighted as new.

the only way to delete those e mail address that your iphone collects is to do a restore as new... so annoying

If this is a stupid question, then so be it, but I was wondering if this is still true in iOS 5? : "I love my iPhone 4, but I am not a fan of the stock ringtones. For one, EVERYONE use them, so anytime one goes off, EVERYONE checks their phone. Not cool."

Thanks.

Yes, it is stupid, because you didn't ask a question ;)

Huh. I kinda did, kinda didn't. Anyways, the question was if you could change the stock ringtones and personalize them? Do you understand that quote now? :D

Apple allows you to add ringtones to iTunes and you can select them for your call ringtone. They allow you to select different ringtones for text messages and voicemail, but they are from a pre-installed list, no custom ones as yet.

You've been able to have custom ring tones for awhile now? Am I missing something?

Yeah, you can already do custom ringtones.

In iOS5, however, there is a link under the text tones for "Buy More Tunes". At this point, it just takes you to the regular ringtone store, but it appears the groundwork is in place to be able to add custom tones for Text, Voicemail, New Mail, Sent Mail and Calendar Alerts.

True. But when you goto select tones for SMS and VM, it does not take you to your ringtone library (as the caller tone option does). If it would do that, then the user can have his/her own custom tones....

the place where you select tones now is your ringtone library, but only for sms/email tones, which are a different file format to ringtones (ok the different file format is mostly me applying logic and assumption, but you'd assume there will be a special format for text tones that's limited in length, etc, cos ringtones are just m4a with a different extension).

anyway my point is, that existing menu with the current tones looks just like the ringtone library with no custom tones, once iTunes is switched on to allow sms tones format, you can add them and they will appear there.

hopefully you get what i'm trying to say, been up for over 24 hours! lol

I don't think this has been asked, forgive me if it has. If anyone as the iOS 5 beta and have music on the phone, can you start a shuffle, and then spotlight search any song besides the one currently playing and report the behavior? For a while on iOS 4, it would simply just play that one song and it would end the shuffle. When I wanted to move the next song, I had to start the whole shuffle. On 4.3.1 it would then just play the album that the song searched for was from. Before 4.0 it would simply find the song in the shuffle and play it and the shuffle would never end. The new way sucks. So if anyone could check that for me, I'd appreciate it.
