Define stable. I found it stable enough, but half my apps didn't work in one fashion or other, it got so hot you could fry an egg on it and the battery life sucked. It also got so slow you had to reboot it several times a day so it was at least usable.

Stable though? Sure.

I would tend to disagree about the apps - mine all work fine, although I suppose it depends on what you're using. In terms of stability, it's so-so. The OS itself hasn't crashed, nor have I required a reboot, but I'm having problems with cellular service; phone calls will regularly cut off and messages will often fail to send. Aside from that - which I am able to put up with in the short-term until the next beta - I've got no problems with it.

Yeah, nothing really drew me in to where I was willing to put up with all the hassles. Perhaps next beta or so...

hmmm maybe I should wait?

photos

have you or anyone experienced any problems with arranging photos within albums? I used to have all the order of pics arranged through iPhoto and iOS4, but now with iOS5 the pics are all out of order.
any ideas?

glad to hear many thumbs up on iOS 5!

I was quite installing it but skype is blocking the green light for me, it's the only app I need to have working full throttle on my 'betaphone'.
Has anyone feedback on how, or if!, is working? Wonder esp. if backrounding is allright with the new notification system.

as always thanks a lot folks

skype app working OK for me on iphone4 running the beta.

camera

i found a handy/fun new feature in the camera. if you swipe to the right your camera roll will be revealed.

also loving the focus and exposure lock on the camera but would be nice to have at least exposure lock for video. and i know apple is a fan on simplicity and is very good at it but that doesnt mean there cant be an option for more advanced users for entering values for exposure and aperture or even lock the frame rate for video.

i tried to report these thing to apple but i havent signed up to the dev program yet as its pointless at the moment as im still trying to sus out the SKD (specifically quartz). if anyone had a helpful link for this that would be great... sorry for getting off topic a bit.

on my 3GS, battery dies so fast. I let it go to zero, sit for a bit, then plugged it in and charged to 100%. After that it seemed to get snappier and not drain as fast. Moved it to my bedroom and then when I woke up today it said 95% - PLUGGED IN. Then it went down to 93%. PLUGGED IN.

The outlet wasn't bad, so I don't know what's going on.

Camera Roll

Hi guys

Not sure if this has been asked in this thread or not (it's 21 pages and I didn't fancy scanning all the pages :) ) but I was wondering about the improvements to the photo app. Since iOS 5 is supposed to be 'PC free' does that mean we can now create folders in the camera roll or move pics from the camera roll to albums on the phone without having to use a computer?

*keeps fingers crossed*

I read somewhere there's now the ability to print from maps. My question is what exactly can you print?

I ask because my mom really wants to go iPad only, and one thing she still needs to do every now and again is print driving directions from Google maps, which as of iOS 4 wasn't possible. So, does anyone know if this is possible in iOS 5? It would be one of the last things needed until she could basically pack up the computer for emergency situations only.

I have a question about Maps. When you go to maps.google.com and you see a business name on the map, you can click on it to get all it's info (number, address, website). I've been hoping a long time it would be like that for Maps, right now the only workaround is typing in the name, which sounds easy but when you are dealing with some crazy business names it can be cumbersome.

This may have been asked already, and I apologize if so. But I was expecting to get a badge on the Reminders icon when I had a task with a due date. Am I missing something or has that feature not been incorporated? It has a badge option in the Notification settings.

I restored to iOS 5 (using XCode) and then set up as a new phone. At that point, I restored the backup files (in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync) from earlier in the day via Time Machine and then restored again (this time through iTunes) and told iTunes to restore data from that backup. No battery life issues for me - it's roughly on par with iOS 4.3.3.

No issues with any apps besides Twitter, which always crashes when I try to access the "My Profile" page. The iOS Settings app is a bit buggy and slow, and crashed once, requiring a reboot (even a task-kill wasn't enough) to fix it. Also, individual app settings are not always appearing properly within the iOS Settings app list.

Additionally, the iCloud/MobileMe migration PDF that Apple posted is resulting in some weird behavior, plus it's sort of useless right now since iCloud won't sync with iCal or Address Book on Snow Leopard, so I've gone back to MobileMe. I've used the iCloud backup for the camera roll/accounts/settings (manually) but I'm curious how often it will back up to the cloud (it says when the phone is locked/charging/on WiFi, but it didn't back up all of last night).

Notifications are amazing. Amazingly, the OS feels just about as fast as stable 4.3.3. I can't wait to see what the later betas (and GM/release) feel like.

There is no badge option in Notification settings for Reminders. I'm not sure where you are seeing it. There is nothing below the "Banners appear at the top of the screen and go away automatically."

Not sure why yours isn't there.
