I also got the red SE 2020. I use it all day.
Even without watching videos, I'm charging it 3x a day.
I chose it for the price point & the touch ID.
The camera is decent, & I find photo editing on my SE
far easier than on my MBA.
3x a day? I looked at swappa for one, and this makes sense as to why I was seeing so many se2 that are pretty far down in terms of battery health. I don’t want to charge my phone at all during the day, but once would be my limit. Too bad battery tech is still so lacking.

I bought one last August and love it but when I had the chance to get the iPhone 12 Pro Max I jumped at it. I am keeping the SE as a backup in case anything happens to this one.

Erm so you buy the more expensive phone, then buy another phone so you don’t have to use the more expensive one?
Sort of. My 2nd previous phone was the Redmi Note 10 Pro and Note 20 Ultra... now my 2nd phone just happens to be a smaller device.

Touch ID works fine with Tempered Glass. Have it on both my SE2 and my 8+.

Frank
On my SE its bad. But i get it why. Spigen’s tempered glass is very tight on the Home Button. Thus if i wanted to use FPS i have to really press my finger onto it. I finally removed the Tempered glass.

If you have to get a 2nd phone, then you can't go wrong with an SE 2020. The only thing that sucks is the battery life, but at the same time, it's $399. What more can you ask for?
True. But some people would debate about it as for $399 i could get a mid range Android with “better” specs.

The battery life of my 2020 iPhone SE is about the same as that of my previous, iPhone 8. The only problem I have is Apple's smart charging that stops at 81% in the middle of the night.

As far as Touch ID, do they no longer have screen protectors with the cut out for the Home button?

They do have the cutout. But since the tempered glass from Spigen is very precise and quite thick,i have to struggle to get Touch ID to work. The logic is when i touch the Touch ID, the ring around the Home Button doesnt register as my finger isnt touching the Ring.

er... i just got my phone few hours back but i gotta say it drains faster than my 12 PM. WHICH IS normal i guess since the SE 2nd Gen only has a 1821mAh battery while the 12 PM has a 3687mAh battery.
Haha yeah, those batteries are kind of apples and oranges. But another thing to keep in mind is that there are a lot of background processes (indexing) happening right now since you just got it, so battery life should improve some.

Oh, I never had that problem with the older screen protectors for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 from other companies.

there are little choices in Indonesia. and there isnt any 3.5D curved tempered glass in Indonesia so the closest one is the Spigen Alignmaster(which has black sides to cover the bubbles) and its quite thick if you ask me.Thicker than my 12 PM's Spigen EZFit.

Too bad you don't know someone who could go to Sim Lim Square in Singapore to buy something for you. I've heard that they have a number of shops where you can find almost anything.

I bought the 11 after my 8. A few months after the se2 came out.
I wanted Face ID , but for the rest I miss the 8 formfactor.

I hope in 2023 there is a se3 with the size of the 8. But with Face ID . Touch ID never worked for me, with my damaged bakery hands

It's a great phone.

I personally prefer the 11 pro and 12/12 pro (OLED, Face ID, edge-to-edge, battery, night mode) but i was able to get an SE 2020 for free, and sell my 11 pro and 12 for approximately 1 grand (CAD) each. The free phone plus the just over 2 grand in the pocket has made it entirely palatable to hold on to

I am more than happy to stick with the SE 2020 now as my main phone. It's fast, I don't use the camera as much as I thought I did, and when I do it takes pictures that look just fine when I blow them up on my PC screen or stream on apple TV 4k

I haven't found myself missing the 11 pro or 12 as much as I thought I would, which is a bit surprising. I consumed a fair bit of media on those phones but I found after about a week I adjusted to the SE 2020. The main advantage for me is that it is simply just as fast as the other two "higher end" phones.

I agree completely with you OP including the drawbacks (although I don't use a case or screen protector, I use it au naturale)

For me, the touch ID Has been a surprising benefit. I wear a mask exclusively at work, and the touch ID is super helpful. For extra battery, I managed to snag an official apple iPhone 7 battery case for $40 which extends the life a fair bit when needed.

So far though, no concerns.

I have the SE 2020 also but with my US Stimulus payment and bigger than expected tax refund I bought the iPhone 12 Pro Max. I do like the larger Screen Size on the Pro Max as I use it for You Tube videos and such. I am keeping the SE though as a backup device in case anything happens to my Pro Max.

Haiya same same lah. Hahahaha. In Singapore everything is available. If it isnt then just buy from overseas. In Indonesia max value allowed for free import is USD$5. So buying anything above USD$5 from overseas comes with tax... it used to be USD$50...

Local business? They dont even sell it here, thus many people import... for example the OtterBox Defender Pro. The government just want to tax us. But dont worry those who import usually put a note telling companies to put the price of the item to be $4.99 or $5 on the package 😂

I like mine a lot, especially Touch ID and having a home button.
Regarding battery life, it's not great but generally get through the day. I have a chatty lady friend that calls me a couple of times a week and she can talk for over an hour at times. I put it on speaker and just let her rip while I go about doing my stuff. However, I notice this is a big hit to the battery and on these days I usually need to juice it up a bit to get through the rest of the day. I'd say the battery is mostly sufficient for my needs but if I had to name a downside to this phone the small battery would be it. Everything else is fantastic, no complaints.

I'm still using my Ballistic case for my iPhone 7 on my 2020 iPhone SE. I didn't buy a screen protector at all.

I was close to going to Android (ASUS or Razer) when the iPhone SE appeared for $0.00 per month. The size and Touch ID made the difference for me. Dealing with my new but not powerful Android 10 tablet leads me to think that I was right to choose a phone from Apple again.

ah screen protector... found no tempered glass which can be installed perfectly so yeah my screen is also naked, but im using Spigen Tough Armor. Nice but the cutout is pissing me off -_- but then again the dust found in Indonesia is different to the dust in Singapore lmao. The dust here destroys your phone easy.
