I really wouldn't mess around with Cydia. Perhaps restoring and re-jailbreaking would be your best option. Or you could contact Saurik and ask him why you aren't receiving the update.

Also? Cydia should have no effect on themes. It is Winterboard which handles themes. Cydia is merely a GUI for dpkg.
ive re jailbroken 4 times now withjailbreak me and im clearly not the only one with the problem. it has to do with the new retina display icon he made for it

Why not just replace the cydia icon thru SSH?
All this restores and rejailbreaks worth it over a minor issue like that?
It will probably be fixed soon anyway.

the problem is no one seems to be bringing the issue to the dev i sent a email to saurik and all and that was 2 days ago, no responce yet

IMO its not such an emergency but it does require a fix.
You know that these people do have lifes beside the JB scene right?

i love how one post about one issue and i complain and instantly i get blamed for making them do it right now this second when i never asked for them to fix it right now, all i asked is someone to send one message mentioning the problem so they know OF the issue they dont necessarily mean they have to do it right now.

You do realize that Saurik gets hundreds -- perhaps even thousands -- of emails a day, right? He cannot possibly respond to all of them, and he surely has to prioritize. Perhaps theming of the Cydia icon is not at the top of his list of priorities? Seriously, this is a tiny issue.

THIS!!....Its just an Icon. I had the non-retina icon or "ver 72". I see no performance issue just the icon display. I fixed it thru ssh. Easy. Its not a big enough issue for the dev team to fix. They cant do everything for us jeez!!

I understand that your issue is very important to you, but it will be way down the priority list for a developer updating Cydia. Best hope would be that it gets included with the next update. I don't see the icon because I'm using a theme (Aqwoah) and haven't seen the Cydia icon for a while.

I'm on version -73 with no other problems at this point.

This has all been about an icon??? I lost that with all the posts.

I didn't think about that. I'm really not sure why he's not getting an update under Changes if he has the older version of Cydia.
I seem to have the same issue. I jailbroke on 4.0 with pwnage tool 4.0.1 and have Cydia version -.71. No notification or anyway within Cydia to upgrade -.73. Anyone know if its possible to upgrade if Cydia isn't telling me I can?

Well i was trying to avoid to give system tool to new commers since they can mess things up real bad, but if you guys want them, here they are.

Cydia is just a front end for apt-get, if you have SSH access, you can do
Code:
apt-get update
to update the repositories.

Edit: ----- NOTE: you cannot run apt-get while Cydia is running ---------

them:
Code:
apt-get upgrade cydia

Reboot

That should bring you to the most recent version available, if after that still doesn't take yo to V73 then you need to wait for the official word from the "man" since that means that they remove v73 for some reason (but i doubt it).

Please do this with care and I take no responsibility for broken systems.

Jesus, I assumed 73 fixed actual issues. Ugh I will just wait until some of the actual bugs are worked out.

I have the iPhone HD theme and I believe it replaces the non-retina icon. Just fyi you can do that if you want a hi-res icon...
