5 out of 180 closed above $645 and three of the five were over a week ago.

Where are your successful auctions with >$645 bids that closed on the 18th and 22nd?

The 18th 635.99 + 12.36 = $648.35

Last I checked, $635.99 was less than $645. The referenced Feb 22nd auction closed with a high bid of $640, also less than $645.

Might want to work on your reading comprehension.

I said bids, not bids + shipping, because the seller will pay at least $12.95 to ship a USPS medium flat rate box with signature confirmation as required for seller protection. A smart seller would also add insurance, bringing the shipping cost to $21.

The 22nd sale at $640 included shipping, so if you add shipping to the bid it's effectively $627, again well below $645.

27 auctions on just the first page that end for over $600.00 Now stop trolling me. This is my final post.

You're funny. When you sort highest bid to lowest, of course the first page will show the highest auctions. Who is trolling who here?

At this moment, when sorted as "End Date: recent first", there are thirty completed auctions on the first page, between Feb 22 22:04 and Feb 20 15:42. Only two sold for $600 or more. One for $600 + $25 shipping, one for $640 with free shipping.

Two out of thirty is pretty low odds to set someone's expectations on. That is really the point I and others are making; what is it reasonable to expect? Exceptions can always be found, but they don't show the reality.

It's just amazing how many people don't understand eBay and look at a bid like it's an actual purchase.

I hope you I am preaching to the choir when I ask:

Do you know how many people scam eBay on a daily basis and hike up bids with no intention of ever paying?

Do you know how many sellers use fake accounts to hike up the selling prices of their items?

Just because an item sells at an outrageous bid doesn't guarantee the purchaser will ever, ever follow through with making the payment. The media NEVER understands this... but hopefully everyone here does.

Its a good price but people are getting more on ebay. Some peope are getting mid $600s. It comes down to how well you take care of the device, picture quality, extras and original packaging. And Knowing what people will pay. Remember too Apple charges tax.

If you want to be precise, don't forget about eBay tax (9%+3% PayPal). Realistically, $600 is more like $528 assuming you won't lose any money sending it off with all the packaging and stuffs. Not to mention, shipping is a hassle. They even charge fees on shipping nowadays.

*Sigh* with tax it is $670

And like I said when reselling something no one includes the tax they paid as part of the items worth. That's tax it is money you paid to the state , but carry on counting your pennies.

Just sold my Wifi 64gb iPad 2 with Incase back cover and black leather smartcover for $650 today on Craigslist. Seller paid cash and picked up at my office. It was only listed for 6 hours before selling.

I did the same thing with my iPad 1 about a year ago.

We have another iPad 2 in the family but I think I'll keep that one as a hand-me-down for my kids.

So all in all...I 'leased' my iPad 2 this past year for about $5 a month. :)

That still has nothing to do with people are paying and your numbers are off. I would clear $551 minus $10 shipping.

Do your homework. That's if you sell it via Buy It Now. Sell via Auction format and the $528 is correct. How are you shipping for $10? Priority Mail with Signature Confirmation is around $13, add insurance and you're at around $20 to $21 shipping.

Bought my ipad2 at Target and received 5% off the purchase price by using their in-house credit card. Sales tax is 6%. Essentially a wash. Yes, this is an exception and not typical, just like many of the "I sold mine for $xyz posts".

Learn to know what you are talking about. Use a eBay fee calculator. After my final value fee credit I clear $551.00. I ship UPS and with insurance it's around $9.58.

Shipping Priority mail is asking for a world of hurt with a product like an iPhone. They can delay the phone 14 days and lose packages all the time. I don't recommend you use eBay as you obviously have no grasp for optimizing the process.

I don't need home work buddy as I do this everyday. :)
If you don't like the fact I can sell items for more or make more money on a auction keep it to yourself. I will not reply again as its not fair to the OP to liter this thread with your garbage.

I did, two different ones plus eBay's just now in case I was actually wrong. I'm not. FVF on an auction closing at $600 is $54 according to ebay. Take away another $17 and change for Paypal and you're at $528. I used $0.01 opening bid, $600 final auction price, no reserve and no auction add-ons.

Of course, I'm assuming selling as a normal person and NOT as an eBay Store. Perhaps if you do this everyday you're using a store and thus seeing different fees than us mere mortals?

Your UPS tip is good, thanks. I'm a little puzzled though at how you're achieving sub $10 costs; when I tried putting together a shipment on UPS.com going from here to an address I used to live at in another state and declaring a $600 value, UPS Ground is $12.95 and 3 day select is nearly $25.

I don't think anyone really gives a flying flick how much you do or don't make, and personally I know I really don't care. What does bother people is your attitude in telling them their numbers are off and giving nothing verifiable to back them up. Put together a non-store auction in any of the three links I gave above, using $0.01 as opening bid, no reserve, and $600 final auction price. Show how you achieve $551 net using those parameters.

I don't get what's off about my number. It's a fact that eBay charges total of 12% off of whatever your final money AND shipping. I don't get what's so hard to get; number challenged :p?

People buy $100 Walmart gift cards for $110-120+ so nothing surprises me. Look through eBay for Walmart gift cards as completed auctions. Same goes for Amazon gift cards and many many others. eBay is world unto itself.

No wonder the economy is upside down....

Don't forget about ebay fees and shipping costs. I think the biggest factor in craigslist pricing is location. Big cities have more buyers.

I sold my 32gb wifi for $450. Might have been able to squeeze a few extra bucks but it wouldn't have been worth the extra time and effort.

Sold!

Just sold my 32 GB iPad 2 for $480 on CL. Been flipping iPhones, iPads, and Macs for years. So easy! And allows you to keep up on tech for not much investment.

As someone who buys/sells a lot of computer parts online, I am constantly amazed by how well Apple products retain their value.

I put my iPad 2 wifi/3G 16gb up on CL yesterday and i keep getting the scammers that want me to send it to west africa! I'm asking $550 with black leather smart cover, its a lot but i have not gotten anybody else!

I get a few of the "money order/cashiers check for more than purchase value" scammers. I'm surprised people still fall for that trick.

If it helps those of you looking to sell yours, within 3 hours of posting an ad on craigslist I had about 15 people contact me about it and had $540 cash in hand for it with a black smartcover and Belkin shell on the back. I have no doubt had I asked for more I could have got it.

This is in the Los Angeles area.

Good luck folks!

nice, thanks for sharing.

I would sell my 64GB, AT&T 3G with the grandfathered unlimited data plan but I couldn't live without it until they release the ipad 3... I'll probably give it to my daughter for her 10th birthday in September.
